ME to MCO for rental car??

If you rent from Alamo or National, you can choose to pick up your car at the Magic Kingdom Car Care center. They will send a free shuttle to pick you up at your resort.

We did this in 2007 and it was very convenient.

Did you get a special airport rate? Many companies have facilities on site and as mentioend will pick you up and drop you off. We used Hertz for a couple day rental.

Okay...DME is tied to your reservation BUT..you can use it to get back to MCO at any time, during that reservation. But, you won't be able to go back to MCO using DME at the end of your stay. But that is probably a moot point since the OP is most likely returning the car at the end of their stay.

Also...there have been times when it cost me substantially less to rent from the airport, vs the CCC or Dolphin. You really have to run the numbers to see how it works out for you, each time you go.

You are allowed 1 trip from MCO to WDW and 1 trip from WDW to MCO "during" your stay. It doesn't have to be on your check in or check out day.

I am guess OP wants to take ME to the resort on check in day, but then have DH go back during the trip to pick up the rental. I see no issues with this as long as they don't want to use ME at the end of the trip. My guess is they would use the rental the rest of the trip and just drop off at MCO. There should be no problem at all with this. I would just set it up with ME after arriving (at least 24 hours in advance). Have a great trip!

I did get a cheaper rate @ MCO. We will not need ME to airport since we will be on a disney cruise after our stay at WDW :cool1:. I called WDW and they said I will not be able to take ME to MCO just to pick up a rental car:sad1: . Our plans were to have my husband take ME to MCO after our ADR at Ohanas. But were staying at the ASMu. Don't know if we can do that either????:confused3

Don't listen to Disney. Listen to kaytieeldr. Not simply because I'm (almost ;)) always right, but because I did this exact thing a couple of years ago (goofy4tink - 2008? 2007? by the way, I offered to pick her up at the airport, but in the interest of research for this forum about which she cares so much, she opted for the Mears Shuttle).

Each Guest with a Disney resort reservation is entitled to one DME ride from the airport to their Walt Disney World resort on or after the day their reservation starts, and one ride from their WDW resort on or before the day their resort reservation ends. Period.

So, yes, the OP's husband can ABSOLUTELY use Magical Express to get to the airport to pick up a car. I did. The same category car that would have cost me $250 onsite, was $84 at the airport. Now, I was able to make my DME return reservation when I checked in at the Welcome Center for my WDW-bound Magical Express trip.

But - while being truthful would be best, less confusing for the CMs would be for the OP to simply find a flight that leaves MCO about three hours after her husband plans/wants to pick up the rental. Call Disney. Use that flight number and information for your husband's reservation. Voila!

Do you mind if I ask - did you call Disney (e.g. resort reservations, travel company) or did you call Magical Express directly? The toll-free phone number for DME reservations is in one or both of the Magical Express "sticky" threads at the top of this forum. I never remember the number, but the area code is 866.

Man, I hate saying this....but...Disney is wrong, kaytieeldr is right. Man, that hurts.
In any case.....what about this scenario....the family arrives at Disney on Friday, mom, dad, the three kids. They happily take DME to their resort. But...dad has to leave for work on Wednesday, rather than stay for the entire week. So, he can take DME back to the airport and fly home. Disney and DME have yet to have a problem with that....never. My dh has done that several times to date. He just doesn't love WDW as much as dd and I do, so heads home early in most cases.
When you are at the resort, go down to the front desk the day before your dh wants to go to MCO. Tell them your dh needs to get back to MCO the next day....if they ask for a flight number, give them one....find one before you go. Find a flight that leaves about 2 hrs after the time you need to be at MCO...if your rental car pick up time is noon, then give them flight info for a flight that leaves at 2-2:30. That would mean they would put you on a DME bus that leaves at about 11ish.
Now, they may not even ask you for flight info, but it's good to have it just in case.
I myself have taken DME back to the airport in order to rent a car. It's just not that big a deal.
