No parks the first night. Arrive at WL via Tiffany Towncar. Flight was late, luggage was later....but we made it. Complimentary upgrade at WL to a very pretty view. Room 3156 overlooking the quiet pool and a wooded area. We had bunkbeds which seemed a little weird to me. The bottom bunk is very close to the top bunk. Watch your head! And besides that there is no light down there (I like to read in bed in the evening). You couldn't even watch TV if you were laying in the bottom bunk. All in all a good room - I guess I'm just not used to bunk beds. Also - the 4 of us are going to be cramped for 4 nights. Is it my imagination or are the rooms at PO actually bigger? But then again, we had 2 rooms there for the 4 of us so I'm sure that had something to do with it!
Dinner is a treat at Whispering Canyon. I ordered a chicken pasta dish & an apple martini. My sister ordered the tuna steak special of the evening and a pina colada which came w/ this huge hunk of pineapple in it (in keeping w/ the theme of the restaurant being a bit obnoxious on purpose). My brother-in-law ordered a steak which was "neither the best nor the worst" he had eaten and a very fun drink called a mudslide. It was like an adult shake w/ vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce and something intoxicating. Alissa - 11 year old grandniece - ordered chicken tenders (big surprise!) and a rootbeer. She got about a dozen straws tossed at her by the waitress. No ketchup jokes, but we still enjoyed the ambience and especially the food.
We hit the monorails and explored Poly, GF, and Contemporary the first night. I tell the troops to sleep hearty b/c they are going to see rope drop at MK the very next early entry morning!!!!

I just love Whispering Canyon. Our waitress was Headda Lettuce and she was great! Sounds like you had a nice day after the few delays. Cant wait to read more.

my 4 year old hit his head while staying on the bottom bunk. He is not used to benk beds and 2 or 3 times during the first night knocked his head. I do not know how an adult could sleep on the bottom bunk!@!!

He figured it out, and I was still glad to have the bunks so my boys could sleep separate.

P. S. yes the rooms are smaller, but I still love WL
