We are thinking of checking our luggage (as opposed to carry ons only) and using ME. We are landing at 8:30 a.m. If we do checked luggage with ME, when can we expect to have the luggage delivered to our room?

TIA

About 3 hours after check in. You do not need to be in your room.

last year we landed at 9:50 am and our bags didn't get to the room until almost 6 that night. Don't plan on getting the bags in a timely manner, MAKE SURE you pack what you need for the arrival day in a carry-on. If the bags show up in the rooms in 3 hours, consider yourself lucky. In our experience it's been more like 5-6 hours.

I'll second this. On our last stay it was a good deal later than 3 hours before we got our luggage. I didn't keep track of the exact time but it seemed a very long time.

I don't think I could tell you. LOL, we always plan a full day for the first day. Our morning flight time usually gets us to the resort by 11 am. If our room is ready, we'll drop carry-ons in the room. If not, we leave them with bell services. Then it's off to a park right away. We fly in our park clothes. By the time we get to the room late that night, the bags are already there. Couldn't tell you how long they'd been there, though. That's the magic of ME.

We have never had issues with ME we own at KV so it takes a bit to get home. Normally we get them around 3 hours. We have never not had the room ready. But just in case we bring the DVC bag with swim items.

It depends on the time of year, how busy they are, how full the trucks are, (they don't want to make a run from MCO unless the truck is full), and how busy Bell Services is.

Our average is 4 hours. The only time it took 6 hours is when Bell Services put the luggage in storage instead of delivering it to the room.

I have always gotten my luggage about 2-3 hours after I checked in. I had a problem once and that was when I was staying at Kidani and they delivered my bag to Jambo house. The offiicial DME statement is up to three hours after you check in at the resort. I know there are some hiccups once in a while but that is not the norm.

DME packet info tells us to expect our luggage to be delivered to our rooms up to three hours after resort checkin. I have waited longer than that just one time....I was at Pop, and my adult dd hadn't packed her carryon as I suggested, so we had to wait for checked bags. We checked in around 11am and our bags didn't get to our room until close to 5pm. But, from what I understand, the value resorts tend to be much slower than other resorts when it comes to baggage delivery.

The thing to remember is this....it is not always the fault of DME when bags take up to 5+ hrs to get to us. It would be reasonable to assume that the airline misdirected bags...happens all the time.

If you need your bags sooner than hours after resort checkin, then you may want to leave your bags untagged and get them yourself, at baggge claim, and then bring them to the bus with you.

Also....you should always pack your carryon with anything you may need for the first 6 hrs of your stay...anywhere, not just WDW. That's just in case a bag does get misdirected. I have learned the hard way that this is a must, no matter where you are headed.

So, to answer the OP's question...if you land, ontime, at 8:30am, you should expect to be at your resort checking in, by 10am. Which, in turn means, that your bags can be expected by 1pm'ish...maybe sooner.

But that assumes the room is ready at check in or shortly thereafter.

OP originally posted the question on the DVC Boards, so I assume she is checking into a DVC resort, which of course most reading this would not know.

Check in at the DVC resorts is after 4 pm, and an early landing does not guarantee a room will be ready for you before then. All the more reason to make sure your carry on has what you need for the day.

Yes, thank you. You assume correctly, and I apologize for failing to mention I'm checking into a DVC resort. I decided to carry on anyway. I usually do when it's only a 3 or 4 night trip, so I'm just going to stick with that.

Thanks for all of your input;)

Pack enough in your carryon for the first 24 hours. Night clothes, toiletries, and some fresh underwear (at least) for the next day. As mentioned, what if the airlines misdirect your bag? So, you use a small carryon to handle that stuff and then check the rest. It's also good to have on hand in case you get stranded at an airport overnight.

Also, I just thought about this... you're supposed to get your ME bags ~3 hours after you check in to your resort, right? But what if your room isn't ready 3 hours after check in? Very possible if you are checking in in the morning/early afternoon. If your room isn't ready, they can't deliver your bags.

As the PP stated, she is checking into a DVC resort, so the luggage will not be delivered until the room is ready - DVC resorts don't start doling out rooms until 4:00 pm.

We didn't even get our room assignment until 4:50 pm and our luggage didn't arrive until 7:30 pm, because it was a busy weekend.

(summarizing)
On average the baggage should get to your room about 3 hours after you can.

At the All Stars and Pop Century the hours 10 PM to 6 AM don't count as any of the three.

I'm sorry, but this is not true. We are DVC members and have stayed at each DVC resort in WDW. Only once did I have to wait beyond 4:00pm for my room assignment.

On the other hand, I have also received my room as early as 10:30am on some trips. I think it just depends on how busy it is when you visit.

If you're lucky enough to have a room ready when you check-in, you can go right to the room. This does not always happen, but it is possible.

In short......if you arrive at MCO at 8:30, you can figure that you will be at your resort by 10am. 'If' your room is ready when you checkin, then your bags can be expected in your room up to three hours later.
If your room isn't ready until 2pm, then your bags can be sent right up. If your room isn't ready until 5:30, again, your bags can be sent right up.
Now....I am going to assume that Bell Services is notified as soon as the room is ready, and they will bring the bags up then.
