On our last day I am wondering if I can have my luggage picked up from our resort (POP) by the Magic Express and then proceed to breakfast at Kona Cafe at the Polynesian Resort, then catch the Magic Express from the Poly to the airport. This would save time rushing back to POP after breakfast just to catch the ME to the airport. Thanks.

Thanks. Could you tell me how long it takes to get from the POP to the airport by ME so I know what time to be back at the resort after breakfast? Thanks.

For a domestic flight, your Disney's Magical Express pickup time at your resort will be 2 3/4 to 3 1/4 hours before your scheduled flight departure.

You should arrive at the pickup location at your resort at least 15 minutes before your scheduled pickup time.

If you're going to have your luggage stored at your resort, allow 30 minutes to have it returned to you.

From the Polynesian, you'll need to take a monorail to the Magic Kingdom and a bus to POP. I would allow approx. 60 minutes for that.

In other words, you'll need to plan on leaving the Polynesian about 4 1/2 to 5 hours before your scheduled flight departure.

The bus will pick you up from 2 hr45min to 3hr 15min before your flight time.

They ask you be at the stop 15min prior to the time they give you.

Then Bell services ask for between 15 to 30 min to retrieve your bags for you.

Then give 50 min or more for trans Monorail to MK then Bus to POP

Worse case 5 hour prior to flight time you would have to leave the Poly.

Well HH at least we both have about the same info typing at the same time

Let's say your flight is at 11:00. DME would expect you to be at POP, at the bus stop with luggage in hand, at 8:00. Now, if you have left any luggage with the bell services folks at POP, then I would return to POP about 7:15 in order to have plenty of time for them to retrieve the bags. They could need about 20 mins or so. I'm sure your flight isn't at 11:00 though...just used that time as an example.
But no, you have to have DME pick you up at the resort you are staying in (checking out of). That's what DME bases their buses on...who is being picked up from what resort.

Who would like to speculate on why you cannot schedule your DME from another resort back to the airport?

Is it because such an accommodation would increase the number of degrees of freedom for he-said-she-said screwups to occur?

As in:

DME attendant at Pop Century: "It says here you were supposed to be picked up over at Polynesian."
Guest: "But I scheduled my pickup here at Pop Century."

Whereas with the current more restrictive system there is a concrete reference point, you stayed at that particular resort.

Technically with the one day in advance scheduling, any number of guests could be pre-scheduled at their request to leave any resort for the airport and the chances of no-show are no different.

Your DME reservation is tied to your room reservation. Adding complexity to a simple system is just asking for trouble.
