ME? Do you need to return to your resort?

Our flight does not leave until 7:30 pm which means a 4:30 pick up. We are planning on spending the day at MK after check out at AKV. Do I need to return to AKV to board the ME bus or can we catch a bus at Polynesian? I'd love to book a late lunch at Kona before we leave. TIA.

As far as I know you have to go back to AKV.

Sorry but you have to get the ME bus at the resort you check out of. Remember that the time you will get for pick up is the time the bus LEAVES the resort, be at the bus stop ready to go about 15min before your listed time.

Why not switch your schedule around for the week. Spend the extra day at MK on the day you were going to AK(if you were going there of course), then spend your checkout day at AK.

There's not much to be gained by that.

The OP would still have to take a bus back from a theme park (MK or AK) to AKV/AKL.

The drive from MK is longer than from AK, but MK bus service tends to be more frequent. In either case, I would be at the theme park bus stop at least an hour before the scheduled DME pickup.

Thanks for the advice. I've done nothing BUT mess with the schedule the past few weeks. MK has 4 EMH am & pm my week and I'm trying to avoid them so Friday would be out (leave Sat 8/14). I'm going to book the Plaza instead. I'm thinking if I leave MK by 3:30 we'll be okay to catch the ME bus at AKL @ 4:30 right? or is that pushing it?

We are planning on doing the same thing our last day, we too have a 745 pm flight, we have and early ADR at CP so we can get in before the park opens, then we plan on leaveing around 1 pm and return to AKL get something to eat at Mara's pick up snacks for the plane and walk around perhaps taking more pictures until time for ME pickup

Don't forget if Bell services are holding any carryons for you , allow time to retrieve those items too before ME Pick up.

If it were me, and it is many times, I would leave MK 90 mins before your pickup time. If you leave an hour before, this is the time the buses will run slowly, and you'll just miss a bus, having to now wait 20 mins for the next one. And that one will be delayed for some reason. Then, once you get back to AKL, you're going to want to use the restrooms, gather your belongings, and arrive at the DME bus stop about 15 mins before your pickup time. The time you are given is NOT the time you should be arriving at the bus stop..it's the time the bus is due to depart the resort.

If you have a 4:30 p/u time, I would plan on leaving MK no later than 3, maybe a bit before.

If your flight departure is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., you DME pickup time will be APPROXIMATELY 3 hours before that.

Normally, each resort has two pickups per hour, if there are resort guests heading to the airport who have reserved DME. With a scheduled for 7:30 p.m flight, plan on a DME pickup time of 4:15 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Because you're flying so late in the day, there may not be another DME pickup after your scheduled pickup.

If there are guests at your resort with flights at 7:25 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 7:35 p.m., and 7:40 p.m., they don't send a four DME motorcoaches. They would all be scheduled for the same pickup, perhaps 4:35 p.m.

Then, if nobody has a flight around 8:00 p.m., there won't be a DME pickup around 5:00 p.m.

Leaving the MK at 3:30 p.m. would PROBABLY be okay. But the consequences of missing the DME pickup are such that I wouldn't risk it. I would leave the MK earlier.
