Well my ME info and tags didn't arrive (leaving in 3 weeks) so being the curious type I called MS and inquired. They said ooopps sent to the wrong address and info was returned to Disney. They corrected the problem and are resending (in theory). My question is this, CM said o don't worry if it doesn't come (now I'm starting to worry again). At airport just give a desription of your bags and your luggage receipts and all will be well.

I have travelled enough and had enough baggage not show up for days to start to wonder about this process. Anyone tried the ME "Backup Plan" before?

We haven't but a couple in front of us 2 trips ago did they put 2 different color ribbons and had a pic. of their bags . We ran into them later that nght on the bus stop and they said their bags arrived a few hours later.

Me is fine tuning an already good system and it seems to just be getting better.

You could pick up your own luggage, and carry it to ME, just to be sure. :)

That's what I was told to do also! :thumbsup2

I agree pick it up and take it to ME.

Last November our tags did not arrive...We double checked with a phone call that we were registered. We just picked up our bags and took them with us on the ME bus. I actually prefered this to the other option. We only checked one bag for each of us and this meant that we had everything with us...it seems that once you ride over to the other terminal in MCO and reach the luggage carousel you don't have to wait very long for the bags to start coming out.

The most important thing is that they have you listed.

Once DH missed our flight. He had car reservations, all I had was the WDW information. I did get my bags, and then, I went to the ME people explained the problem, and they took me to POP where we were staying for the night. So, I think that if you don't get the tags, carry your bags, and all will be fine.

See I was trying to eliminate having to wait for bags..... Im just lazy or just in a hurry to get to WDW. :cool1:

Thanks everyone for there posts.... If I dont get my tags I will pick up my own bags and bring them to ME. At least Im not the only one who is concerned about lost luggage! ;)

Hi - I took a very sudden trip to WDW with my two year old son in March - just the two of us - he is a flight risk, too. :rotfl2: We didn't reserve in time to get tags sent out. Picking up our suitcases to bring them to ME ourselves sounded about like scaling Everest under those circumstances! So I packed a change of clothes in our carry-on/diaper bag, and when we checked in at the DME counter, I told her what kind of bags and what color and she took the little claim numbers (which I have never had any use for before) from when I had checked the bag and she sent us on our way! I don't know exactly when our bags arrived, but they were there when we returned from our AP/DDE/Dinner collecting expedition that evening, absolutely no problem.

I can't say that I didn't worry about it a little, but I also had strong reasons for not wanting to wait for the luggage and transport it myself ,and I was pleased with how the service worked, even without the tags. For me, it was such a delight to travel to the hotel unencumbered, it was worth the little bit of seemingly unfounded worry.

If your bags do not have DME tags on them they will be put on the luggage carousel. They will circle around the carousel until all passengers from your flight have claimed their bags. Then an airport/airline employee will remove all unclaimed bags from the carousel and set them aside. Some time later, a DME employee will come along and look through the unclaimed bags, matching up the claim check numbers to find the bags belonging to DME passengers who did not get their tags.

DME has been doing this since the program started in May '05 and it seems to be working OK (or we'd be hearing more reports of lost bags). Personally I'm not comfortable with the idea of my bags just sitting there next to the carousel so I would get them myself and take them to the bus.

Good luck! I hope your tags arrive in time.

Our tags didn't come in time either. I called and was told not to bring my bags (of course I know others have and do) but to bring my claim tags to the counter that I was in the system. I left my bags for them to claim and they showed me a bunch of pictures of different kinds of suitcases so I could show them the type we had. They took my claim check numbers from off the tickets and that afternoon our suitcases showed up in our room, no problem!

We never received our tags before our trip this past January. No problem. When we arrived, got into the ME line, when my turn arrived a few minutes later, I just gave a description of our bags to the CM along with the claim numbers, he gave me our vouchers for our return trip at the end of our trip, and off to the bus we went. After a wonderful evening at MK that same day, we returned to our room to find all of our luggage in the room. I worried many, many days just like all of you for naught, ME came thru just like they said they would. So no need to get your own bags if your tags don't arrive, just follow what the CM's ask you to do, and your first day will be fine. :thumbsup2
