We are using ME and will be arriving at MCO at 6:15pm. I know it can take up to 3 hours for our bags to be delivered to our room. Should we collect them ourselves and take them to the bus or will the likely be to our room within 3-4 hours?

You are talking 9:15 for your bags to arrive at the latest (as long as the airline didn't delay them). I would have ME take care of it all. You can check in, get a bite to eat or swim and your bags will be there.

My flight next Wed lands at 5:54pm and I am doing exactly what I said above.... though we are going to Whispering Canyon for dinner at 9:20, so our bags can arrive late for all we care......

Whether you take DME or not, whether you get your own bags or not, pack a carry-on with whatever you'll need for your first day at the parks -- what if the AIRLINE delays your luggage???!!!

I travel this way no matter where I fly, which means I'm totally unaffected by DME luggage taking a few hours to arrive.

In 3 weeks, we'll be arriving around 10 PM. DME will deliver our luggage, and we'll have a request at the resort to hold off on delivering it to our room until morning (so we don't get woken up by a knock at the door at 1 a.m.). It takes up very little room in our carry-ons to have PJs, toiletries, and a change of clothes for the next morning.

It's just a safe, self-protective way to travel. I consider it a sort-of flight insurance.

I finally have the okay to talk about this :teeth: : I have a sibling who's an extremely experienced flyer. The last time this person came to visit, they checked ALL their luggage (don't ask me why  ) Well, in a dispute with the airline over the checkin time - according to a patriotically-named airline, 45 minutes in advance actually means MORE than 45 minutes - so this sibling had NO luggage for about 36 hours. Nothing. No clothes, no toiletries, nada...

Airlines have a cut off time for checking luggage. I would have expected the bags to be on the next flight, with the passenger responsible for getting the luggage from the airport. Something must have happened for the luggage being delayed 36 hours. DME would be a plus. The luggage would just get to the resort later in the day.
