I have read that tank tops are not allowed even on cruise casual nights. But I have also read blogs where people say they wore tank tops with no issues. Do women have to wear tops with sleeves or are nice dressier tank tops okay to wear? I am asking because I live in Key West and my entire wardrobe consists of only tank tops. If I cannot wear that to dinner I will need to make sure I find some more appropriate tops.

The term "tank top" is generally felt to refer to the underwear-type shirt that men typically wear (sometimes called "wife beaters").

Not the dressier, more fitted jersey shirts worn by women.

You may want a shawl or light weight sweater. I find the dining rooms cool even in the heart of the summer. Also for the Walt Disney theater and movie theater.

I like the oversized scarves for the summer, you use them like a shawl.
I will definitely have to find something, all I have are zip up hoodies

I agree with all of this, and I use a scarf as a wrap, too!

I've seen people wear literally everything you aren't "supposed" to, and nobody says a word or even bats an eye. If its in good taste then it probably won't even be noticed at all. Especially since you are even asking this question, i'm sure it will be in good taste. Times have changed since Titanic.

It's always nice when your table mate, whom you never met, comes to the table with their arm pit hair hanging down, especially women from foreign women.

Like I said, if it's my table mate, I will say more than a word. It's not in good taste to have your arm pit hair hanging!

It's not a significant issue in many countries. Very few cultures have the absolute horror of body hair Americans have.

In Cameroon, female body hair is considered sexy.

Please allow women to make their own choices and acceptance of their bodies and their naturally occurring body hair, and do not treat it as though they need to groom themselves to please your conception of beauty.

I will no longer post on this thread, yea :yay:,
Let me know when you're next cruising, I'll start growing it now especially for you!
Your so funny -

I will plan on bringing my dull hedge clippers - before I get banned, my last post on this thread.

I don't understand how the man's shirt is inappropriate but the woman's is. It's the same cut, same fabric, same style.... :( Just the bumpy bits are in different places....
I believe it's because that term was originally put on the dress code during a time when those items were men-only wear and were considered "underwear" and usually only worn alone during exercise/work time. They probably felt it wasn't "nice" clothes for dinner wear.

Only later did women's wear start making "tank tops" for women (usually "nicer looking") and those became more daytime wear on their own.

Now it's a bit dated, but still on the dress code. Perhaps they should say "undershirts" instead of "tank tops".

Don't start learning about school dress codes. Your brain will explode.
A subject in which I have a massive amount of "argumentative" material to debate my points towards equality. It's a hot-button topic for me. :( Thankfully it hasn't come up with school admin yet.

It's fine as long as he shaves his armpits. :)
*sigh* wish it wasn't an issue for so many!

People are people, they look like people, people all look different, just enjoy the differences between people. Sheesh...
