I have a MDE where my daughter, son, and his wife are all in my friends and family. When we get tickets for our upcoming trip, I will link them in my MDE account to make fp etc. I have already added them and made some dining reservations.

My son will be moving to FL soon with his wife so will need his own MDE. Can the tickets be listed under both of our MDE and by managed by both of us?

If so, can someone explain to me how to do this? I have searched the forums but whatever way I word the search is not correct as I am not finding this info. Thanks!

No.

Have your son set up his own MDX for his family. He will need to link his tickets to everyone in his MDX account.

From your MDX account, website not app, go to him and each person in his family and “Update.” At the top of the Update page you can then “Invite” them to link their MDX to yours. The Invite is sent to the email associated with his MDX.

If your son and everyone else Selects “Share All Plans,” you’ll be able to book FPs for all family members.

Thanks....so he will list himself, wife, and me and my daughter to his as well? Then when we link tickets do I just link my daughters and mine and he would link his and his wifes...then we do the update and invite? Just unsure who links the tickets in which account.

No to the bolded statement. You already have your own MDX.

Invite him and whoever else is in his family and you can book FPs for everyone after he accepts the invite via his email.

As hiroMyhero said - your son will not have to add any friends or family to his account - you can invite him or he can invite you to connect via email. Then once you accept his invitation - you will appear under his friends and family. Then make sure you and everyone selects "Share all plans". Then you can make the FPs. I hope that helps.

Your account already contains an identity for you and one for daughter.

Son needs to create an MDE account. That will create an identity for him in that account. He will then create an identity for his wife in that account.

You buy 2 tickets online from Disney. It will ask for your email address. If it's the same email address you use for your MDE account, the tickets will end up in your account automatically. You then go into your MDE account and assign a ticket to you and assign a ticket to daughter.
Or you buy 2 tickets elsewhere, then log into your MDE account. You enter the information for ticket # 1, then assign the ticket to yourself. Enter the information for ticket # 2, then assign the ticket to daughter.

Son buys 2 tickets online from Disney, and the tickets will end up in son's account. Son then assigns a ticket to himself and a ticket to his wife.
Or son buys 2 tickets elsewhere, then logs into son's MDE account. Son enters the information for ticket # 1, then assigns the ticket to himself. Son enters the information for ticket # 2, then assigns the ticket to his wife.
Or you buy tickets elsewhere for son and his wife, and give the ticket info to son. Son logs into son's MDE account. Son enters the information for ticket # 1, then assigns the ticket to imself. Son enters the information for ticket # 2, then assigns the ticket to his wife.
(I'm not sure how it works if you want to buy tickets online from Disney but have the tickets end up in son's MDE account.)

Completely apart from the whole ticket thing: after son creates his MDE account, he goes into his MDE account and sends an invitation to you; you accept. Or you go into your MDE account and send an invitation to him; he accepts. You do not need to have active tickets in your account in order to send and accept friend requests. Both of you check that you want to share information. Then you can book fastpasses for the people in your MDE account and the people in his MDE account. And he can book fastpasses for the people in his MDE account and the people in your MDE account.

Thanks so much for the detailed reply...it helps! I have made a resort reservation already for all 4 of us. I also added his and his wife name to my list of friends and family. The dining reservations I have made i made for those 4people. Does any of this matter or change anything? Specifically that they are already listed in my acct?

No; it doesn’t affect anything.

Dinner reservations can be made by and for anyone. Even if you booked for yourself and 3 guests it’s the same as booking for 4 people with names.

He doesn’t have to invite you to link to his MDX because you are the one booking the FPs. Complete the steps to invite him and his wife to link to your MDX.

Thanks again. I do want him to be able to book fastpass or make changes for all of us as well since we are going on this trip together. I just know he may make future trips without me. Unbelievable that he would go without me I know... haha.

If you don’t want to mess with him having to link you two to his MDX, just give him your login ID.

At least he’ll be set up with his own MDX when they travel by themselves. :)

I thought of that as well. Do you know if you can be logged in to the same acct at same time w 2 devices..so if we are there and trying to book additional fast passes can we both log into my acct from each of our phone at same time and search?

Yes. Having and maintaining 1 MDX is the easiest when traveling as a group.

He can use his own MDX when he travels without you because Mobile Ordering for food will be charged to his linked credit card and not to yours. ;)

Wait a minute. OP, are son and son's wife staying in your room?

Are son and son's wife getting Annual Passes? Or just tickets for the length of this stay?

If they are staying in your room, and if they just have tickets for the length of this stay, then why does son need his own MDE account for this trip? If you want to make all the plans, then for this trip it seems like it would be easier to just continue to deal with him as a person in your MDE account who you manage (like you would a small child).

If they are getting Annual Passes, and they want those Annual Passes in son's MDE account, then that's a different story.

Yes they will be w me. I was concerned if we just use my acct that maybe we couldnt both be logged in at same time to book additional fastpasses. Like at park on our phones.

These are just tickets...not annual pass. I just know in future he will go wo me.

The son is moving to Florida and will be able to take advantage of the Florida resident discounts. He will need his own account with a Florida address. :) If he links his tickets for this trip to his own account then he will get to keep his MagicBand for future trips. :)

But OP already booked a room in OP's MDE account and son will be staying in that room.

The free Magic Band which son gets for staying in that room will be affiliated with OP's MDE account. Son will use that Magic Band to open the door to the room. If son's ticket is in OP's MDE account, son can use the Magic Band to access the theme parks and Fastpass touchpoints.

If son puts son's ticket in son's MDE account, then I don't think the Magic Band which son gets for staying in OP's room can be used to access son's theme park ticket which is in son's MDE account. Son could buy a Magic Band and link it to his own MDE account and thus be linked to his ticket; that would mean son would have to use 2 Magic Bands on the trip (one to get in the room and a different one for his park ticket). Or maybe son could get a hard ticket for his theme park ticket if he doesn't want to deal with needing 2 Magic Bands. Or maybe OP could get a room key card which son could use for the room so son doesn't need 2 Magic Bands.

Also, if son puts son's ticket in son's MDE account, then my guess is that if son wants to make Fastpasses, he cannot do so at 60 days because his ticket is not affiliated with a resort stay.

I'm probably in over my head here.

If the son opens his own MDX account and the OP links to his account via the Update steps I gave her, the MB will be permanently linked to him in his MDX.

That’s why he needs to open his account and list his wife. Then, the MBs are linked to the correct Profiles - they aren’t linked to an MDX.

So are we back to him creating his own acct w his tickets and linking to mine? So using 2 different accounts?

Yes; because then he has his own MDX for his future trips sans you.

Just do the update steps I posted and you’ll still be able to book FPs for everyone and he will have his own MDX. But, if you don’t want to hassle with linking, just leave everything alone.

Then if he ever travels without you, just have him set up his own MDX using his own email etc. unless you want him to be able to use your linked credit card on your MDX.

It is very easy to update the guests on the reservation to the guest's MDE account. I've even switched guests on our reservation when one person cancelled and another took their place. Even if the mom had assigned the ticket to the wrong profile it can be reassigned to the correct one. :)
