MDE CC ADR update watch

I know the CC guarantee policy isn't in full effect yet, but I thought I'd start this anyway in anticipation of Friday's implementation date.

As of today, you still cannot book any restaurant that requires a credit card to secure the reservation via the MDE app. That is a huge downside to this new rule, far moreso than the actual cancellation fee, because it puts an end to the ease and flexibility of being able to make dining plans on the fly from within the parks. With all the focus on technology, this puts us back to needing to wait on the line with Disney dining if we decide at 11am to see what is available for a same-day lunch or dinner.

I'm hoping that an update to the app will change that in the near future. Anyone want to join me in checking on the current status and posting about any changes that might come along?

I just booked an ADR for next week at Planet Hollwood through MDE. No credit card was required.....

I was able to book a signature online today but the problem is I could only book one day even though today was my 180 day window. My credit card was on file so that is why I could book.

I had to call for the next 7 days of my trip.

Online isn't the problem - it is the smartphone app that can't handle CC booking. The problem you ran into is one that comes and goes; the system doesn't always successfully connect your room reservation to your account, so sometimes you have to book the +10 by phone.

It appears that, for the moment at least, the expansion of the CC policy has been delayed. The MDE app still cannot search for or book reservations at restaurants which have the policy (character & signature dining), but the restaurants not included under the old policy are still not asking for a CC and can still be booked via the app.

Has anyone out there heard how long this reprieve might last?

Today was my 180th day and was only able to get 5/4/2014 reservations. I called dining and they were able to book all of the days. I was prepared to do CC guarantee but was told that only the Signatures and character meals need the guarantee, and all other restaurants are postponed for now.

It would be great if there was the possibility of booking through the app. But while you are at WDW, the phone line is not the only option; you can make reservations at any park Guest Services, with your resort's lobby concierge, or at the restaurants themselves. and if you have a computer or smartphone or a kindle or Ipad or something in your room, you can go online as usual to book things.

Yes, the rollout of CC guarantees to all restaurants has been delayed. How long? they didn't say.

There's still CC guarantees for the restaurants that previously required them though.

I got the feeling from the gal I was talking to, that they have enough issues to deal with right now with the numerous changes, that CC guarantee for other restaurants is not a high priority to them.

I hope it holds at least a couple of months! I'd really like to do the booking-on-the-go thing when/if DH and I get down there in January. It was such a nice little freedom in what is otherwise a bit more scheduled vacation than I prefer!

My phone doesn't get along with the Disney site so the app is the only way I can book on the go without waiting in line at guest services or traveling from restaurant to restaurant to see what is available, and I hate that the CC guarantee looks like it is going to "break" that ability. I wouldn't even mind not being able to book on the app if you could just search and view available times, because then I could at least call/stop at guest services to book something specific rather than looking to find out what is available at any of several different options/locations (ie, which restaurants in the MK or on the monorail are available for lunch today around 2?).

Anyone been having problems booking non-CC ADR's the past two days on the MDE app?? I've been trying to make WCC for breakfast in Dec but after it gives me the times available it will not let me start the reservations process? Thanks for your help.

There was an update last night that took care of this, you can now make CC reservations with the app. I expect the new rule will take effect shortly since this seemed to be the only obstacle. Both android and iOS were updated to version 1.5
