MDE App Update & Recent “Refresh” Changes Discussion (we’re not doomed!)

You can do it from anywhere. I am constantly modifying mine after I book them.

You can do it from anywhere, but it works best the night before and the day of. I had decent luck getting good FP (but not FOP level ones, think Space mountain) the night before for the next morning, and very good luck the day of getting ones to use almost immediately. I was never looking for super headliners, though, I always got those ahead. I was looking for things we hadn't ridden yet and didn't want to wait in any sb lines for.

The information screen scrolls in front of the Park map. If you click on the map, it will make it full screen.

The home page is dramatically different (see above)

I had to delete and then reinstall the app to see the update.

Ok. So I updated my iPhone and then was able to update to the "real" new version of the app. I booked a FP and started refreshing to find it super slow. I know some others had mentioned this so I'm going to have to go back and see what they had to say but does anyone have any tips to refresh quicker? I tried on wifi and cellular. So far I'm not impressed and regretting the update.

Oh I am sure I know who that person is. Big reason why I left that group and didn't renew my subscription.

Yep. And it isnt even a "hack". Its more about understanding the FP system and how to use it to your advantage. Still, the majority of people wont know how to use it once in the park. Ill have a better idea this weekend if the numbers of people using it have increased or if Disney has changed it and made it harder to do.

Can confirm this worked much better for me yesterday. Was able to grab multiple tier 1 FPs at Epcot later in the day. No second refresh screen.

However, refreshing is still slower than it used to be pre-update.

I can also confirm that things worked much more normally yesterday, and especially today, than Saturday through Monday. We were able to get TSMM as a 4th and 5th FP today. It's just busy, so availability is better later in the day for the evening.

And I think my issue with not being able to check other parks is due to the same issue that did not allow me to make FPs at 60 days (a combination of AP with multiple onsite stays).

Magic kingdom was crazy crowded today but I still got space, ariel, jungle cruise, poc, dumbo, and iasw... between 12-3. We ended up leaving after that.

It’s amazing the people who never recheck- they think they are all gone! I laughed when I overheard people talking.

So, my son also has a Galaxy S4. His app won't update to this newer version. It does have the "+" menu option on the bottom that brings up the menu, but still also has the old interface, which is weird. The newer graphics and ads are not appearing. So, it appears the fully new version isn't compatible with Android 6.0

My app updated this afternoon on my S4.

I haven't been following this thread closely, but thought I would post my experience in case others had the same.

My Pixel updated to the new MDE this morning.... wow, what a strange and terrible home page.... Why should I have to scroll down to the middle of the next page to even see my plans? Who comes up with this stuff?

So just to get familiar with it, I made a FP on POC for later this afternoon for myself and my hubby... (APs), no problem, lots of times available. So then I went in to try to modify to an earlier time. The FP didn't even show up. I refreshed, I logged out and back in, I rebooted my phone. Never showed up... so I got out my old tablet with the old version and could see the FP. So I modified it there, then went back to the phone with new app... still couldn't see it. So I uninstalled the app, and reinstalled from google play - still couldn't see it. So I went back to my tablet, and canceled the POC, then created a Barnstormer. Went back to phone - not there.

So, I canceled Barnstormer on tablet, and uninstalled the 5.0 on phone, and found that my library in Play Story still had 4.19.... which I reinstalled, and now I see matching FPs for the day on both tablet and phone.

Is this happening to anyone else?

But does it have the same graphics and everything as has been posted? Like the new park hours graphics and all the new ads? I literally uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my son's Galaxy S4 and it does not look the same as mine.

OMG!!! I just did my first modify! And got an earlier time on Mine Train! Went from 1:50 to 1:25. How cool is that? I'm trying to get it down to 1pm or 12:45. Pretty cool to have only booked yesterday and was lucky enough to get a better time just 24 hours later.

I scored a great modified time for Mine Train also, for my trip in a month! It had been 5:50pm and got it at 2:20pm instead! So much better because we wanted to take an afternoon resort break and grab a sit down dinner before DAH at the Studios that night. Now we can leave MK earlier!

I understand! I was trying to be out of MK by 1 or 1:30...but for now what I have works. I want to meet Mickey/Minnie, and Tink. I suppose my son and I can work on those when we return that evening sometime around 6 or so. Also, after we tap into Mine Train, I'll see if I can find one as we are heading out the park.
