MDE App Update & Recent “Refresh” Changes Discussion (we’re not doomed!)

How can you tell which version of the ap you have? I have a Galaxy S7. I installed the ap over a month ago, but I'm not noticing anything different. Should I reinstall it?
Look in your settings under APPLICATIONS or APP MANAGER - scroll until you see the DISNEY WORLD with the Mickey head icon. Select that, and it MAY show right away under the app name but if not, scroll to ADVANCED, and then at the bottom of that page it tells you what version you have - that's what I see anyway

Or try the google play store. Select the hamburger menu (the three little lines), choose Installed and look for My Disney Experience. Mine shows the date last updated.

I am not having the exact same problem, but similar. When I look at my app, I can only see the fastpasses attached to my magic band. The fastpasses assigned to the rest of my family aren't showing up at all. They are all visible when I log onto the website, though. Not very convenient for our trip! I called Disney and they put in an IT ticket to try to fix it, but the CM couldn't tell me when they would be able to get around to it. I've never had this issue before!
I have the same problem. Very frustrating!! Let me know if you find a solution.

Help/about menu option.

I don't think it matters if you update it yourself, or wait for it to autoupdate. Outside a different layout, I haven't read of a single difference between the two versions.

I feel like this should be obvious to me but, how do you refresh the app?

I said the same thing several months ago when I started reading about it here. @JETSDAD is the refresh guru! I kid you not!

Anyway...it's very easy! Pick the FP you want to update and click that button...update. If it's a headliner and it's open, it will show first the moment you get to the screen with the times. That's what happened to me when I bumped my Mine Train FP from 1:50 to 1:25. If you are in the park or it's the day before, keep hitting the time you are wanting till it or something close to it shows up. I'm told sometimes it's immediate or can take up to 30 minutes or even longer. Well do you have an Android phone....because hitting the time is how I do it on mine. On the website, I click morning, afternoon, or evening to get the refresh. Also if you're looking for say 11am but only 12pm shows up, take the 12pm. The objective is to grab it and keep refreshing till you get what you want. Better to have that late time than no time at all! I hope I've helped! Let me know! :P

I turned the automatic update feature off my newer LG when this glitch first happened and am afraid to update now because of the people whose FPs aren't showing up. Is there any disadvantage to staying with the 4.19 version of the app?

I haven't been following this thread closely, but thought I would post my experience in case others had the same.

My Pixel updated to the new MDE this morning.... wow, what a strange and terrible home page.... Why should I have to scroll down to the middle of the next page to even see my plans? Who comes up with this stuff?

So just to get familiar with it, I made a FP on POC for later this afternoon for myself and my hubby... (APs), no problem, lots of times available. So then I went in to try to modify to an earlier time. The FP didn't even show up. I refreshed, I logged out and back in, I rebooted my phone. Never showed up... so I got out my old tablet with the old version and could see the FP. So I modified it there, then went back to the phone with new app... still couldn't see it. So I uninstalled the app, and reinstalled from google play - still couldn't see it. So I went back to my tablet, and canceled the POC, then created a Barnstormer. Went back to phone - not there.

So, I canceled Barnstormer on tablet, and uninstalled the 5.0 on phone, and found that my library in Play Story still had 4.19.... which I reinstalled, and now I see matching FPs for the day on both tablet and phone.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Replying to my own post as an update.

Yesterday, I allowed the new app to update my old one again, and it seems to be working fine now. Not sure if it was my phone that was glitching, or the new app itself, but all seems to be working as advertised on the new app.

And now, with the new features such as being able to filter only resort reservations (something I really wanted to do!) or other specific items, I actually like it. I don't have a trip until September, so I don't know about the FPs for that, but since I'm and AP holder, I practiced again with making, modifying and canceling FPs within 30 days, and it seems everything I tried is working.

Time will tell, of course, but so far, so good,

Excellent rundown by @Tiggerlover91

For Android just keep hitting the same time over and over. For iPhone switch between 2 times.

thank you guys so much! Tiggerlover91, it's beyond sweet of you to write all that down!

I do have an Android so it worked perfectly. I haven't been to WDW for over 15 years and A LOT has changed. Its so much more complicated and stressful now. It makes me feel bad for the people that just show up with no fastpasses or ADRs.

Oh please! Wasn't nothing to it! Thank @JETSDAD that I was able to do that! :-)

It's only stressful if you allow it to be. That's when you step back and take a deep breath and go, I'm in Disney....relax! I don't feel bad for those without FPs at all. It's all over the Disney website and on park maps and signs throughout the park. I cannot understand how they don't know about it.

But again....you are MOST welcome! Enjoy your trip! When are you going?

We're going May 13th to the 18th. We just booked it a few days ago so I was worried we wouldn't get anything. So far I've gotten all the fast passes I want except FOP and we're going to try and rope drop that. The times weren't great so I'll keep checking using refresh! Lol

Have fun! So glad you got what you want! I'm assuming you're on the resort since you booked FPs. Because 30 days out for offsite would be next week and you booking your FPs. Just remember for FoP to be at AK, through the security check and turnstiles ready to enter at least an hour prior. I believe that's what I've seen from other DISers who RD FoP. Also...getting in line at the end of the night is said to be a good idea for that one. But unlike SDD....FoP seems to pop up much more on day of using refresh!

On rope dropping FOP... We arrived just as they started letting people into AK during our last trip (2017). We walked with the masses to FOP, got in line and were thru the queue and off the ride in 45 minutes. Not bad at all!

Of course, that was 2 years ago...things may have changed. I just don't think you need to arrive an hour early and stand around.

The main reason to arrive an hour + early isn't just to ride FoP, it's where you are heading afterward. For example, I often rope drop FoP and then hit NRJ, and then hop to a different park. Others want to book it over to Everest for example, so it just depends on your plans.

Finally got the upgrade last night as when I opened the ap today it let me know it was "new".....bla...bla...bla.....

Other then things rearranged around, seems like it is close to what it was, no biggie as it still works good, so far for me and now I can use my fingerprint to sign in.....
