MDE accuracy on waits

As part of my 45 ramp up to our trip, I start looking at MDE and see where we will be each day of the week at random times throughout my day. (It helps get me through the tough days.)

But I have been a little disappoint to see wait times up in the 50-60 minute range during typically slower times in the parks....

So is MDE wait times accurate these days.... Because 60 minute waits for Small world at 6:30 is crazy....never mind over 60 for Pirates all day......

They are generally more of a "we think" than the "we know" times they get from the red cards.

Right now, Small world is 20, Pirates is 25 and 7DMT is 30.

Many of the no height requirement rides are busier earlier than later in the day so it's worth tracking times during different hours.

I also tend to think WDW knows it's a slow time, so they don't run as many boats in Pirates and Small World like they do in peak times.

Pirates usually is normally a decent wait any time of year. Unless it's real early or real late, it's rare to see it with a 25 min or less

The big popular rides will have high wait times. Slow times at Disney are very rare, if they exist anymore

I find MDE to be fairly accurate in that the rides with the longer wait times listed are the busier rides. The actual number tends to be overestimated. So if MDE posts 50 minutes, the actual wait is probably closer to 30-35. This is verified (at least in my experience) by the Lines app, which allows me to actually time how long I wait. I'm sure WDW has the waits on MDE conservative on purpose. They'd much rather post it as 50 and have a guest wait 31, than post it as 30 minutes. You know there would be all kinds of complaints if they posted it as 30 and someone waited 31.

It definitely has. Pirates, Haunted Mansion, small world, and sometimes even Living with the Land aren't walk ons anymore.

Your mileage may vary, but I find MDE generally overstates actual wait times in the 5-10 minute range. Maybe even 15 in some rides/circumstances.

HM is one ride we do as many times as possible....

We use an app called Wait Times for Disneyworld and find it to be rather accurate when many others are not.
