My husband wants to stay arrival night at the MCO Hyatt which is evening before our cruise. This may be a ridiculous question but does anyone worry about the safety of being in a hotel at the actual airport? If I am picturing the entrance to the hotel correctly it is just off to the side from security at the airport? I'm sure I am being paranoid but in today's world....

I'm not sure what your specific concerns are. But the elevators to the rooms require a room key. So in the event of there being a situation, the hotel itself is not as likely of a "target".

Honestly, the thought has never entered my mind. You have a higher chance of being injured getting to your home airport than some act of terrorism.

My DD and I stayed here in February before our Fantasy cruise. We had a late arriving flight (11:30 PM) and felt staying at the airport was our best option. The hotel itself is very secure and I never felt unsafe. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean and well maintained. If I had any complaints, it would be the families that let their children run up and down the halls at 6 AM.
If you are taking the DCL buses, they are located on the opposite side of the airport from the hotel. They don't start loading the buses until 9 AM but when we got there at 8:15, we found about 30 people already waiting there.

We stayed there for the first time before our cruise this past April. The same thought crossed my mind. But there are so called "soft" targets everywhere-the mall, the movies, everywhere, including the airport you fly out of. Be aware of your surroundings, be diligent and report any suspicious activity to authorities. And relax, it is a lovely way to begin your trip. We had lots of fun there- clean and friendly.

We stayed there once, in order to catch an early flight (Let me see... 2007, I think?) NO issues at all, and it's a lovely hotel.

Similar to other responses, we stayed here the night before our cruise, because we were getting in really late (around midnight). The hotel is great, and I had no safety concerns (even with my two small children with us). The convenience of being right in the airport plus just going downstairs to wait to board the bus to Port Canaveral is worth it. We also used the service where we left our bags in the room and they were picked up and taken directly to the ship. (I was really nervous about doing this, but the woman working the desk assured me that if they forget our bags, they have to fly them to the boat on a helicopter, and it's very expensive - for the hotel - so they don't mess it up). We're going to stay at a Disney World property a few days before our cruise next summer, but then moving to the Hyatt the night before the cruise. It's great!

There's nothing different about today's world than yesterday's world. Or the world of 500 years ago.

If I were scared of something happening at the hotel, there's no chance I would be stepping foot onto a cruise ship, or off of the ship into a port, etc.

Therefore I'm not going to worry about the hotel.

We have used the Hyatt at the Orlando Airport two times, and will be using it again for our cruise in November. We have NEVER felt unsafe at all.

We've stayed there pre-cruise and we will be staying there again in september. Love the fact its right there especially after a long flight arriving after 8pm. Plus I love the fact I leave our luggage in the room and someone comes and gets it (as long as you are on the list when you check into the Hyatt and they will hand you a paper to fill out and give to a CM when you check into DCL transportation downstairs the next morning). Its really a nice hotel and so worth it in my opinion.
