First time going since ME does not move your luggage. Do I get my luggage before I get on the airport shuttle train? TIA

Baggage claim is on the same side as ME, take the train first. On your way home drop your bags and go through security before the train.

Do side A and side B connect to each other on level 2? This is the first time we have checked luggage and our airline flies into "Side A". Will we have to go down to baggage claim on level 2, get our luggage, go back up to level 3, cross to "Side B", then go down to level 1 for ME? Or can we just go down to Level 2 on "Side A" and cross over to "Side B" to go down to Level 1 for the ME?

You can only cross between "A" and "B on Level 3.

That's what I was afraid of.....blah!

See if there are porters at the luggage carousels. If there are, enlist their help. They work for tips and are well worth it. Then you get your own elevator to go back up and cross over and go back down, because their carts are large.

What airline are you using? I was trying to think the same think about our last trip. For us, it was terrible. Seemed like the walk with luggage was ten times as long.

Not the OP, but my Southwest flights usually come in on side A. Which is ironic since Southwest is the official airline of Disney.

So for SW , which we used, did we have to bring the luggage over on the tram thing? I have no issue walking to ME, but this time dragging about 80lb of suitcases really wore me down.

It's like you pick up that case of water at the store. Sure , picking it up , put it in the cart. No problem . But if I had to hand carry it out the car, I'd be hurting.

Are you talking about the short tram ride to the gate? If so, then no - the tram is after security and brings you to the gates. Baggage pickup is in the main building. You will have to bring your carry-ons over the tram.

In short... if taking DME, you will get off your flight. Take your carry ons and get on the short tram ride. When you exit the tram, you exit the secure area of the airport. Then baggage A will be down to the right and baggage B will be across the lobby and down to the left.

You will have to go down to the right, find your baggage claim, get your bags, then take the escalator or elevator back up to 3rd floor (the lobby), go across the lobby to side B (about 150 feet or so), and back down to baggage claim. There you will find DME at the end of the hallway.

I didn't think of that! Good idea!

Depends on your airline. Southwest is on A, ME is on B. You have to go up to level 3 and cross over to B and then go down to level 1.

What tram thing? Do you mean the thing that looks like a monorail? That's after you check your checked bags. And when arriving, it's before you GET your bags that had been checked. You do bring your carryons with you on it both ways, but not checked bags.

Well according to DebbieB if flying SW, you do need to get your checked bags before traveling on the monorail. That is what I thought we did, but wasn't sure.

Southwest Gates are in the upper right (2). Baggage Claim is A (Orange), Level 2. Magical Express is B (green), level 1. You can only cross over on level 3.

Im not here to argue, the OP wanted to know if they got their bags before or after the shuttle train. It had nothing to do with terminal A or B IMHO.

The OP mentioned luggage collection and DME, depending upon which airline they are flying, the A/B is simply more useful information.
