MCO Airport

As others have said, at MCO, arriving and departing flights are serviced by "airside" gates located in 4 satellite concourses, further divided into pairs labeled "A" and "B" (orange and green).

When arriving, your plane will pull up to its gate in the satellite concourse, and you will deplane then take one of the ATG's (people movers) from the satellite concourse to the main terminal, where you will pick up your bags at a conventional baggage carousel. Your checked luggage will have been taken directly from the plane to the respective baggage claim areas ("A" or "B") in the main terminal.

Things can get confusing AFTER you've collected your bags in the main terminal baggage claim areas because DME is located on the green "B" side of the terminal while some airlines (like Southwest) have their baggage claim on the "A" side.

It's further complicated because DME is on Level 1 (ground level) on the "B" side, and both baggage claims ("A" and "B") are located on Level 2. If you picked your bags up on the "A" side, you can't simply walk on over from one side to the other. If your baggage claim is on the "A" side, you have to pick up your bags on Level 2, go up to Level 3, walk across the main terminal, then take the elevator or escalators all the way down to Level 1 on the "B" side.

The whole issue lies in the fact that you can only cross from one side of the terminal to the other on Level 3 (ticketing, food court, hotel atrium).

Well according to DebbieB if flying SW, you do need to get your checked bags before traveling on the monorail. That is what I thought we did, but wasn't sure.

Right. But the actual terminals are not where you get your bags. You exit, without bags, go down to get the baggage, then go back up, over, and down to get DME.

Im not here to argue, the OP wanted to know if they got their bags before or after the shuttle train. It had nothing to do with terminal A or B IMHO.
If you are arriving in Orlando, you get off the plane, get on the monorail/tram/train which takes you to either Terminal A or B, then once you are off, you follow the signs to baggage claim one level down where you collect your checked bags. Again, if you are arriving, you get your bags after the shuttle.

Honestly folks, this is the only post I’ve read that makes sense, and spells pretty much everything out in a coherent manner.

Don’t forget Construction for new terminal “C” expected to Open May 2022 ?…
