McDonalds

I guess you won't be watching the Supersize Me movie? :rotfl:

I totally agree!

The information is readily acessible online and in the store. I don't need it on the box too!

Fannie May Candy started doing that several years ago. You open your box of candy, and on the little tissue layer, before you can even get to the candy, there's a full nutrition card. I didn't want to know that!

I smoked for 20 years with stupid warnings on the box. The trick is to not look at them. :)
:rotfl2: I'll have to keep that in mind!!

Planogirl.... skip the fries???? surely you jest!!!! :teeth:

I agree when you eat it occasionally it really isn't that bad. Truth be told...my cooking is way worse than their food! At least theirs isn't usally burned!! :rotfl:

Adiensmom...i don't eat many salads but those look good!!

What really ticked me off was the new nuggets. I mean, come on! All white meat? Baked??? :sad2:

:rotfl2:

I only go to McD's a few times a year and I sure as heck don't want those dried out nasty nuggets anymore.

Same with movie popcorn. I liked it so much better in the past when it was unhealthy.

This must be a female thing...there is nutritional info on everything at the grocery store...do you not eat any of it?? What is the big deal? I guess as a guy I can eat a Big Mac and not feel the least bit guilty. :teeth:

hehehe

I don't look at those labels either! :rotfl: I try and eat healthier at home and so i do pay attention to that information. What I don't want to look at is how really bad for me the junk food is.

And no TIG I'm not gonna see that movie!! hehehe

What? They changed the nuggets? Wasn't it bad enough when they stopped frying the pies?

I will be ignoring my McDonalds wrappers...as I haven't seen these as of yet...thanks for the warning!

Have you seen the new McD commercial??

The Mom is waiting for her little girl to get dressed and the Dialog goes "It's more important What goes IN her tummy than on it[See child dressed-up in missmatched clothes and a boa and crown].

Next scene they are at McD's eating!!! What?? Kid has a happy meal?? Oh, hmmm, thats really making sure the child eats right??

It is such a self righteous commercial!!

Ya, we all get our kids Happy meals, but not for there nutritional value as this McD commercial would have you believe. What a joke!!

blahhh i hate that too!!! DH tears them off before he brings the tray to the table! hahaa!!! :)

Kind of off-topic, but I love it when someone at McDonalds (or any fast food place) orders a double-quarter punder w/cheese (or something of the like) with a large order of fries with an apple pie and an extra sandwich.......and a DIET COKE! Ha!

my theory is since diet coke has zero calories the 'exercise' of lifting it and sipping it through the straw and swallowing burns calories so you end up with negative calories that balanced out against the burgar, fries and pie result in lower caloric intake :teeth: (not sure if it works but it's the excuse when i do it).

as long as taco bell does'nt jump on the bandwagon i'll be o.k. (i don't want to know how bad all that stuff i manage to buy for less than $5 is).

the nutritional information is on all the rest too. If you drink a can of Coke, it tells you how many calories you just had. I don't see why this would cause such a problem for you now that McD's does it too.

OP, I get where you're coming from! I'm on WW, too and had a similar revalation with Hardee's. DH and I used to get Hardee's thickburgers and curly fries about once a week....that is until I worked out the points and figured out the one meal wiped out all my points for two days! :scared1: :faint: :scared:

I am one of those strange people that look up the nutritional information online. I think it's good that McD's is printing the information. There are still some people out there that don't realize the fat and calories they are consuming. I mean they know it's bad, but they don't know HOW bad.

Oh and I love the movie Supersize Me! I haven't touched fastfood sandwiches and fries since. I stick to salads and I don't use the high fat dressings that come with. I usually just use some vinegar (I don't want the High Fructose Corn Syrup that is usually in the low-fat and non-fat dressings).

I used to think it was funny, too, until I met my DH. He switched to diet sodas a long time ago and got to the point where regular sodas tasted bad to him. So just because he's drinking it, doesn't mean he "thinks" he's on a diet or anything.

Also, from being on WW, I learned that I'd much rather EAT my calories than DRINK them. So I might get a diet soda and then blow all my calories on something really fattening.

So, not everyone who's doing that is stupid.

I love the McDonalds around here. We have the Bistro Gourmet McDonalds so I can get something semi-healthy like a turkey wrap or a club sandwich while my kids can indulge on their cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets.

Wow!! lots of people responding.

As to why now that McD has this information this is so bad....because I know its bad for me and I don't really care to know just HOW bad it is! :teeth: I doubt there's a reasonably thinking adult in this country that DOESN'T know that fast food is bad for you (note i said "reasonably thinking" ).

When I did WW a few years ago and looked at all the nutritonal information I did make better choices if I was going to eat there. But I knew the info before I got my big mac not after. So now if I go to McD and order a big mac and then look at the nutritonal information...can I take it back and tell them i don't want it because it has too much fat? it's a little late at that point to be finding out the nutrional facts.

I do look at the nutritonal info in the grocery store when I buy things because I try and eat healthier when I'm at home but when i go out I don't expect the places to cater to me. Yep I know the cokes have the info there and I've learned to tune it out! But this also leads to...

I order Diet coke with my McD food...as a previous poster said once you start drinking it you really can't go back! Heck I even get a diet coke when I order doughnuts at Krispy Kreme! :rotfl:

I also think that commercial with the nuggets is a bit much!! but then again my kids wouldn't eat a salad if I put it in front of them at McD!!!

This must be a new thing, or maybe a regional thing? Because a few weeks ago when we flew up to visit Gramma Gloria and the gang in MI, we stopped at McDonald's after our flight up. I didn't notice any nutritional information on DH's burger wrapper or on the bottom of my Happy Meal box. :confused3

We usually don't go to McDonald's because it's too far away, but that's about to change because they are building one within like 5 min of my house. When DH told me that, I was like, "Hey, at least it's not another liquor store!" (We have two within a 5 mile radius)
