My brother inlaw works for our local McDonalds and he just told me that they are now currently charging for condiments. I can understand charging for extra BBQ sauce or the like but they are charging 16 cents per packet of ketchup. Are anyone elses McDonalds charging for condiments or is ours just a test resturant?

Wow!!!!! If this is a trend my family is in trouble... I consider myself a bit of a sauce "w&*%$" (well that's what we jokingly say anyway) I love my sauce...ketchup, sweet and sour.... the more the better!!!! :lmao:

I'm guessing the owner/operator is doing this themselves. Sauces I've heard of but ketchup packs? that's getting extreme.

Though not something they are doing locally. I can see the waste involved though, I'm sure it adds up. Drives me nuts they give you about 10 when you ask for 1. (and you get wierd looks for handing a bunch back...)

So true! I will ask for chiptole or buffalo to dip my fries in and i get three packs. I take what I need and give the rest back, You'd think my hair turned rainbow and my teeth fell out with the looks they give you! Just a very confused huh?

Google "McDonald's charging for condiments". You'll find lots about this subject.

Just another reason for me NOT to eat at McDonalds. :rolleyes1

Just at my local McDonald's today. Took my meal to go. No charge for the ketchup. They gave me 3 . Perfect!

That would really irritate me. I hope they abandon this concept quickly!

As someone mentioned before, this has been the norm in Europe for as long as I can remember... at least 15 years.

The local ones here in LA all seem to have been kinda stingy with them for a while now anyway. We can get meals for two people, ask for ketchup and they give us 2 packets total. On the other hand Jack in the Box will give you a whole handful when you ask for it. Both are a little extreme. :confused3

When we went to London almost 20 years ago, we were quite shocked the first time we went to a McDonald's and were charged 5p for a packet of ketchup! I have appreciated free ketchup ever since because I'm one of those that like some fries to go with my ketchup!

I guess this will cut their costs due to the people who are getting condiments at fast food restaurants and stockpiling them for use at home or on vacation--or in kids lunches? :confused3

What really irritates me is the Chick fil a --I know you should use the smallest bag possible but when I can't even pull a fry out (not the bag of fries a single fry to munch on) without ripping the bag you are using too small of a bag. Althoug kudos to Chick fil a for supplying purell wipes outside the kids playplace now.

Not charging here either - maybe independent owners can decide? I know we get charged for extra dipping sauces at some locations but not at all of them, and it's been that way for a long time. Oh well - I don't eat ketchup anyway - DH will be the one who suffers!

The McDonalds near me has a sign that says that they are charging for extra condiments. They give you a few with your meal, but if you want more, you are charged for the extra.

Our McDonalds eliminated the dollar menu. Double Cheeseburgers, even though advertised for a 1.00 locally as recently as 5 minutes ago, are 1.29. Sweet Tea went from 1.00 to 1.63.

I just go to a McDonalds with a different owner/operator if I am thirsty now.

Our local McD's has the ketchup pump if you eat inside, so definitely no charge there. Ive never been asked about ketchup or other condiments when I order drive-thru, so I guess they don't charge. (I assume you would have to be asked if they were going to charge for it...)

I did not find anything on Google indicating they are charging for ketchup just extra sauces.

I live in Kansas and they will only give you ketchup if you get chicken nuggets and order it as a sauce. You are charged for it if you get it for your french fries - crazy. I agree - another reason not to go to McDonalds.
