McDonalds Cake

I had a party there as a kid but did they have the b-day cakes back in 1989 I was turning 4 at the time

I remember McDonalds birthday parties being popular when I was a kid, although I don't remember what the birthday cake tasted like. Probably standard cake.

I always wanted a party there, but mum said no

Those cakes are just fine! My son is going to have his party there again this year.
I think I brought a choc cake to go with their vanilla one.

Haha, oh wow I remember many birthday parties when I was a kid in the 80s that were held at either McDonald's or Burger King. It was the thing to do back then because it was cheap and McD's/BK took care of all the food, cake, decorations, and entertainment. But back then, the cakes were shaped like giant hamburgers!

I remember the cakes always being chocolate...not bad, but the icing always had a very distinct fake buttercream flavor.

Let's see I am 41 years old and I had one when my Mother had a Birthday Party for me at McDonalds when I was 7...so...no I don't remember what it tastes like!

I was 7 anyway, every cake tastes good then!! LOL

I thought the OP meant the pie that is birthday cake.

It tastes like a warm crunchy sugar cookie on the outside and inside, like sugar cookie pudding, I guess.

They are pretty yummy.

I've had many, many McD's birthday cakes. They are pretty good imo.
To the pp's questioning it's a regular, iced cake. I've had both vanilla & chocolate.

The last one I did was a few years ago but if I remember correctly, they also served a happy meal with the party. Then came cake and ice cream for dessert. By that time, the kids were full from the happy meal and hardly ate any cake and ice cream. You get to take home leftover cake.

The little ones I hosted for are not gourmet diners but looove McD's so they thought everything was just wonderful!

DIL loves these cakes! She gets one every year for her birthday and sometimes in between just because she likes them. She's also not much for sharing her cakes either! She's in her 30's and has had them like this her entire life.

I do kind of like them though, especially the chocolate ones with the white icing. (That's her favorite too)
