McClellan bashes the Bush Administration!

Too funny Clarke is even mocking on McClellan.....(he's probably jealous of McClellan's book advance $$$)

from www.cnn.com

Clarke left government in 2003. The following year, he accused President Bush of ignoring warnings about the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington and of using the attacks to push for war with Iraq.

But Clarke gave McClellan little credit for speaking out now.

"I think the difference with McClellan's book is he's now telling us something we all know -- that the war with Iraq was a disastrous war [and] was sold with deception. It's a little different when you say something as I did and a few other people did four or five years ago, when the war was popular and when we were unpopular for saying what we said."

You don't think the media can put pressure on congress to do something?
Based on your theory, why even bother voting, nothing will ever get done in Washington? :confused3

What??? How does the media putting pressure on Congress to "do something" equate with citizens voting??? I do not understand that logic, at all.

I never knew the media helped "get things done" in Washington to the extent that you believe. You think that if the media said GWB you are a liar he would have been impeached? What can the media do that produces real results??? Also what side of the political spectrum will the media fight for....should McClellan have taken his concerns to Fox News??? Would they have worked hard to expose the lies of GWB???

This morning on the Today show Katie Couric was on the program and said that after 9/11 the WH told NBC that they did not like the questions which were posed to the president in an interview and said if they did not change the questions they would be denied war coverage access...so who has the power here...the media??? I don't think so!

If anyone could actually come up with any real evidence of these lies, the media could put it out there and the pressure for, at minimum, an indepedent counsel to investigate (a la Ken Starr) would be unbearable.

(Thus my earlier 90s reference)

Was not the media the impetus behind the resignation of Richard Nixon? Woodward and Bernstein anyone?

I'm saying if McClellan has something to say he should have gone to members of the Senate and House and the Media if he felt there was something so horribly wrong with what he saw working in the WH. I'm sure NBC and MSNBC would have talked to him in a heartbeat to get his story out there. But no, instead he chose to make (possibly) millions $$$$$$ off of a book deal selling his book to people who never liked Bush in the first place.

So, regardless, do you believe him?

Brian Williams said the same and I think Charlie Gibson suggested they were pressured too. Remmeber back before the war those of us opposed were called unpatriotic and this was while the country was still in blinding grief and fear over 9/11.

This is good news indeed, but while the messenger may be a surprise, the message is not. The Iraq War has been a foreign policy disaster, clear for all the world to see. It has been poorly managed and has caused far more problems than it has solved. Only two countries have benefited from this war---Israel and Iran.

I disagree. Iraq has benefited, the Kurdish people have benefited, the middle east will benefit, and eventually the world will.

I'm sure Bush's legacy will be a dismal one and more and more folks will be speaking the truth about the ruthless and vindictive things that have happened behind closed doors. McClellan had to wait until he left the position before speaking the truth because we all know what happens to those who disagree with the president. Ask any of his military leaders that disagreed with him and ended up demoted and had their pensions cut short.

Name them please - those military leaders who got demoted and had their pensions cut short - I don't recall any that happened because they disagreed with the president.

I am so curious to find out all of the little dirty secrets of the Bush Administration as time marches on....I think GWB will not be remembered well in history once all of his lies come to light. Really I believe McClellan's book is the tip of the iceberg....once GWB is out of office, I expect to hear many more of his associates coming forward to discuss what went on behind the scenes of the administration....probably in an attempt to distance themselves from what they rightfully see as a president who led us into a complete and utter mess. GWB has the lowest approval rating of any president in history... even John McCain would not allow any cameras at the fundraising event held last night so he would not be photographed with GWB....to me that speaks volumes. GWB will go down in history as one of the worst presidents ever.

Obama does not allow the press/cameras at his fund raising events either. The little clip about "bitter white people who cling to their religion and guns" was snuck out on a cell phone.

Who knew?!

I just had to use the Fox News link because there are folks out there that think any other source is "naturally/unnaturally" biased against the conservatives.

If it was soooo important, it could have been made public without making money from a book.

I put little or no stock in tell all books that makes $$$$ for the authors.

The almighty dollar is a bigger incentive than the truth.

It has been made public, over and over again. This is not new news, it's just another person confirming the truth that is already known.

I agree with Richard Clarke. Just because McClellan's come out with this tell-all book now, long after his speaking out could have done a bit of good, he still gets zero honor points from me. As far as I'm concerned, now McClellan's not just another liar from the Bush Administration, he's a gutless liar from the Bush Administration.

Ditto.

Does anyone care that Bush % Co also get no honor and should be prosecuted???

You said Military Leaders and provided one name - hardly seems like a lot to me. Your original post was misleading, you should have said either military leader or Gen Riggs. See how easy it is to spread propaganda, both sides are really good at it.

Off the top of my head, I can easily think of a couple who were forced into early retirement because of whistleblowing and/or disagreement with the Bush Administration, Maj. Gen. Taguba and General Shinseki.

For some reason, many Americans just don't have the stomach for upholding the honor of the office of the Presidency and holding it accountable for it's illegal actions anymore...unless of course, if it's for lying under oath about getting it on with an intern, then, the gloves come off.

Again, if there were really any proof of illegal actions, it would be out there already, and the pressure for something to happen, anything, would be unbearable.

Also helps to have the Justice department in your back pocket, 6 years of a rubber stamp Congress and another year and a half of a Congressional Republican minority who's only self described purpose is to block all Democratic legislation so that it can run solely on the platform of *****ing about a Democratic do-nothing Congress come November. Hell of a party you guys have...no wonder the Republican "brand" is in the crapper.

That is entirely nonresponsive. And be careful who you are calling "you guys."

Oh for Heaven's sake. Like the Democrats are saints. The parties are so similar sometimes you can't tell the difference.

In my wildest dream someone would have the guts and resources to make a viable Independent run.

Maybe Hillary could pull it off? :duck:
