McCain Vs. Obama

McCain all the way. The biggest factor for me is that McCain fought for this country. Obama just scares me. The only positive thing about Obama is his age. That is it. The church issue for me was BIG. Why other choose to sweep that aside is beyond me. I just hope McCain can win in November.

interesting piece...

"Pfleger has donated $4,000 to Obama campaigns since 1995 and his parish was the beneficiary of $225,000 in earmarks Obama pushed through while in the Illinois Senate."

also did you hear that the low life Rev Wright who had the nerve to say...

"NO NO NO not God Bless America...GD America" Got some nice government grants over the years.

“ over the last 15 years, Trinity has received at least $15 million in grants from the federal government — in other words, taxpayer money “

:furious:

.

Wow. Five whole pages of posts, and practically no mention of actual issues at all. Why am I not surprised?

McCain - For continuing the war indefinitely.
Obama - For ending it as soon as responsibly possible.

McCain - Against a woman's right to choose.
Obama - For it.

McCain - For the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy (after he was against them).
Obama - For rolling back the cuts only on the top percentage to help provide relief to the middle class.

McCain - For continued torture.
Obama - Against it.

McCain - For having an Executive Branch that is not answerable to anyone.
Obama - Has, you know, actually read the Constitution.

McCain - "Doesn't know much" about the economy, per his own admission.
Obama - Has a plan to help the economy.

McCain - Has a health care plan that could cost everyone reading this more money.
Obama - Has a health care plan that won't affect most people while endeavoring to get health coverage to those that don't have it.

McCain - Can't tell the difference between Sunni and Shiite without Joe Liebermann.
Obama - Is fine without Jiminy Cricket on his shoulder to correct him.

McCain - Aggressively courted the endorsement of someone that said Hitler was sent by God to get the Jews to move to Israel.
Obama - Had a preacher that said things to make white people uncomfortable.

Now...let's see. We've got a flailing economy, thousands of soldiers dead with no end in sight, a housing crisis that could see thousands of people losing their homes, $4.00 per gallon gasoline at the pumps, the rebuilding of an American city that was drowned on the current administration's watch, a resurgent Taliban in Afghanistan, and a Supreme Court that already leans to the right and has two of the more liberal justices drawing very near to the end of their terms.

But yeah...let's make sure we focus on what happens at Obama's church when he isn't even there.

Sometimes, I think this country deserves another Bush administration. Which is good, because if so-called Democrats go out of their way to make sure McCain wins in November, that's exactly what we're going to get.

I am for Obama because I care about these issues, not the non-issue peripheral b.s. that most others bash Obama for. This country has had republican leadership long enough, it is time for a fresh approach.

A must see: For those who say only Obama has gaffes..or misspeaks..

I don't remember ANYONE on here ever saying that ONLY Obama had mispeaks. :confused3 Everyone has them from time to time, politicians are no exception. It just that the OS are so quick to do damage control, it's laughable. In fact they go so far as to start threads to defend his wife for a video that, as far as we know, may not even exist.:lmao:
I will agree to disagree...at no offense to you....but out of all 3 candidates seems that every time I turn around he is saying...O I did not mean it that way....I meant to say it this way......and it has been many many many times that he has had to say that....

I am not talking about how many times the media repeats the same gaffe I am talking about how many times he himself had to correct himself on what he meant instead of said in the first place...his wife also.
This sounds to me like someone posted Obama makes a lot of gaffes, they didn't say they all make gaffes, it says Obama and his wife make mistakes....no mention of Bosnia and snipers by HRC or the whole Sunni Shia mistakes McCain made...it's just more fun for those who dislike Obama to gang up on him. It's interesting how the HS and the cons are best buds now, I wonder what would have happened if HRC was about to be the dem nominee...would there be this much love between the cons and Clinton supporters? Vast right wing conspiracy anyone????? Looks to me like the only ones against uniting are the HS.

No, the country has not been under republican leadership. There are plenty of democrats in congress that have helped mess things up. I can't believe our generation has let them get away with some of the things they've done - all of them republican and democrats. Also, change and a fresh approach is only good if its good change. I think we all want to see our country get back on the right track, but I don't see any candidate who is willing to do that.

I must disagree....the reps have been in the WH for 8 years, it was only in the past election cycle did the dems get the majority in Congress...so yes we have had more rep influnece than dem.

But I will agree in one sense....you said "No, the country has not been under republican leadership"...you're right, I wouldn't call it leadership exactly....GWB has proven he is no great leader.

So, the dems have only had 3 1/2 years to help mess things up :rotfl: . I understand we're on opposite sides here, but my belief is that things have been being "messed up" for much longer than Bush has been in office. And I think I agree with you that he has done his share of the damage too. If I think too much about what our so called leaders have done, I feel literally sick to my stomach.

Dems have not had the majority for 3 1/2 years!!! Just since the last election cycle, not the last presidential election...and not by that much!!

All that stuff aside....you are right, dems and reps have had a hand in messing things up!!!! And both sides of the political spectrum have had some pretty pathetic "leaders"...on that we can certainly agree!!!!!:hippie:

I am for McCain because he offers common sense solutions to healthcare and the Iraqi War situation. He won't tax our britches off, and he is neither a liar or a socialist. He has not spent his adult life trying to associate himself with people who hate the very nation he is running to be president of.

John McCain also has a good idea regarding immigration control. I know many GOP disagree with McCain (and me) about this, but his way makes more sense to me than any other right now. He stands for public education, but he also supports parents' rights to seek out the best education for their children in other ways as well. He vows to appoint conservative judges, and values the lives of unborn children.

I do hold his silly "cap and trade" green policy against him though.

:rotfl: Oh man! You're right about the election cycle. What a blonde moment that was! Its good to be able to discuss this. My sister and I used to fight about certain issues and actually stopped talking religion and politics for a long time. Lately, we are able to discuss it by being very carefully respectful and adding some humor now and then. Often the bitterness on both sides is too strong for reasonable conversations.

Thanks for not rubbing my mistake in too hard!

I agree with most of this. And I hate the little I know about the cap and trade policy.

I can only speak for myself here but I can honestly say that there would be this much love if Clinton were the nominee. For me, it is not just about the nominee but the supporters of the nominee. To me, the Clinton supporters tend to be much nicer and much easier to discuss issues with. With the Obama supporters, all to often they get nasty and argumentative. It is hard to discuss things with them because they tend to come across as bullies. So IMO I would still like the Clinton supporters this much if she were indeed the nominee. I think that supporters really do tell a lot about the candidate.

Here's the thing: you guys have raked HC over coals for her couple of misspoken words but you are over the top defensive if it's perceived that someone is accusing Obama of having misspoken words. Dawn posted a link a couple of weeks ago (before Obama's Memorial Day gaff). The man has made plenty of mistakes but it all becomes a non-issue with you guys and you dismiss it and then drag up old stuff about Hillary and go off on that.

I know what annoys me is not that Obama has misspoken. It’s not that Hillary has misspoken. It’s that the OS continually flaunt a couple of mistakes Hillary has made to the HS but refuse to admit that your own great leader has made some pretty stupid mistakes himself. That's what I get upset over.

I will admit Obama has made mistakes or gaffes. I feel both sides have been quick to jump on each other's chosen candidate when they make a boo-boo, it's not exclusive to OS only....IMHO. Getting together will require more understanding from all sides. Each side is passionate about their candidate.

Actually that makes the most sense to me....I can see if you feel personally that certain people who are HS are friendlier and nicer to you then you are more willing to listen to their side. I just think it's funny that conservatives most favorite target (the Clintons) would be in with rep folks...but your response I feel is more honest and on a personal level.

What bugs me is how some people seem to get written off because people know they are OS. For example, I responded to a post once, of course I can't remember the thread, but the next poster basically said well I am out of here since an OS is posting here....the issue didn't even involve Obama, it was more of politics in general, and they're bringing up Obama and OS for no reason, that's why I feel like it's open season on OS. I was basically giving an opinion and not stirring the pot, in fact I felt my post was kind of dull....not really saying anything monumental!!! But my point is those of us who support Obama are not :furious: people.

Well, I was just graduating High School when Clinton was elected so I really did not care back then about politics and the Clintons. So when *I* get told that all the conservatives attacked Clinton and now we are all buddies, it really gets to me since I was not a Clinton basher to begin with. So there is where I am coming from on this issue. If I were someone who constately was on Clintons case about things for all these years and now I liked them, then I would be guilty of what people are saying. But I do enjoy several of the Clinton supporters and enjoy discussing issues with them, regarless of who they support.

As far as OS go, some people on this board are really harsh so it really puts a bad taste in people's mouths about OS. Do I think they are ALL OS evil? Heck no. My sister is one and I love her dearly. What was said to you in that thread was wrong and rude. You should not be told your opinion does not matter because of who you support. But that is how I feel when people write me (or the rest of us conservatives) off just because I am a conservative and say rude things about that. And it just so happens that those people are usually OS.

I think that we are on the same page here, just on different sides of the isle with it. Does that make sense? I know that not all OS are mean and evil. But not all conservatives are ignorant, Bush loving, non-feeling people either.:)
