McCain or Obama ?

and I think faith has a lot to do with the Presidency. In the Pledge of Allegiance, One Nation, Under God.

the "Under God" portion was added less than 50 years ago (or close to less than that). It wasn't part of the original pledge. Infact, we didn't have a pledge for about 100 years. It was only around our centenial that one was introduced at all.

Personally, as somebody who doesn't believe in god, it bothers me that I'm supposed to believe in the idea that we're all united under him. My teachers don't care that I don't stand for the pledge or that I don't recite it. They're all pretty laid back and I like that. I shouldn't have to pledge myself to a nation I've lost my faith in and a God that I have no love for.

My aglebra 2 teacher told our class that she wants us all to stand up for the pledge. She doesn't care if we don't recite, we just have to stand up and put our hand over our heart.

I'd probably do the same thing.
You don't need to say the pledge, but it's like, would you not stand for the national anthem? It's your country.

I stand, and I put my hand over my heart. But some kids just wouldn't get up so my teacher said something.

They normally stand, I think they were being lazy.

I couldn't imagine NOT standing for the pledge or the national anthem. I don't agree with everything in this country but I am VERY proud to be an American and I respect our country.

Exactly.
It's like a disrespect to not stand up. You don't need to say the pledge if you don't believe it, but at least stand up and show that you have pride.

I actually think it's pretty disrespectful when a person doesn't stand for the pledge. Regardless of your religion, there's no reason not to honor your country.
Also, I understand not reciting the pledge, one religion I know doesn't do it. But why instead just not recite the "Under God" part?

I don't believe in this, but do you think racism will play a part in the election?

Yes. Completely. Definitley. To be honest, I don't think Obama has a chance, because he's black. Lil' Wayne had a point when he said that Obama doesn't have a chance because of that. As much as I'd like to beleive he has a chance, he doesn't. It kind of saddens me when people at school say "Obama's gonna win" because I know he's not.

obama is an international superstar.

while race will keep some rednecks from voting for him, i dont think its goign to have an overal negative roll on OBAMA.

mccain however, i believe will suffer.

obama is getting a lot of votes strictly because he IS black.

mccain doesnt have a minority aid, unless we're counting women as minorities now?

i really hope obama wins.

You gotta start sometime, doncha?

Sometimes rookie's do quite well, maybe even better then veterans.

You don't start at President of the United States, thats for sure.

The way I see the war in Iraq is the same way we went in and tried to get Hitler out of power.
Saddam Hussein was killing his people, just like Hitler was killing people.
We went in to help the greater good in both situations. Now that he's dead, we have to help rebuild. Doing damage, that in my eyes was helpful, and leaving without rebuilding is irresposible. As a bigger and powerful nation, i do think we should help out.

And sitting down for chats is definitely not going to help. Its actually laughable. You need substance and power to back you up, not you way with words.

And it really annoys me when people are asked why they like Obama, and all they say is CHANGE!
he's going to get us in a whole lot of mess with inexperience.

sooo.
MCAIN ALL THE WAY!
plus, I love Sarah Palin.

i really dislike sarah palin's views on the enviornment. she wants anwr drilling, she wants to legalize arial hunting of bears and big game (which alaskans voted down 2-3 times with her in office), she refuses to even learn about bear viewing, which pulls in more than 100,000,000 dollars to alaska every year.

i dislike her. i dont want that in charge of my country.

To clairify, I don't choose to not stand out of disrespect or laziness. I don't stand because right now, I am not proud to be an American citizen. It's a personal opinion that several of my classroom peers share. I am very ashamed of the current administration. I am embarrased by our government's choices both at home and overseas. I will not pledge myself to a country I have no faith in, no love for, and no pride in.

I will stand for the National Anthem, but I would stand for any country's anthem out of respect for that nation. To me, the Anthem is completely different from the Pledge. It's not asking me to give my allegience to a country. I also don't remove my hat, but that's just ettiquitte. It's written fact that at sporting events, women don't have to remove their headwear during the national anthems. In case you really needed to know that.

Sarah Palin isn't experienced either. She's been governor for what? 1 1/2 years of Alaska? She has no experience either.

And I don't believe we should be fighting in Iraq. We've been there for 7 years. I'm sure Iraq wants us out, they don't want us rebuilding the country we destroyed. America wouldn't want Cuba in here or China trying to rebuild and force stuff unto them. Yes we need a peace treaty, 7 years, 4,000 + American lifes lost, and billions of dollars spent in Iraq is enough. McCain will be another Bush.

You don't start at President of the United States, thats for sure.

And he isn't. He started in the senate, where most US presidents have started.

Sarah Palin doesn't have the experience necessary in my eyes. She has never had to deal with the demons in washington in a large scale. And, I hate to say it, McCain is old. I know that he's extremely healthy for his age, but what happens if he does suddenly kick the bucket while in office? His VP choice alone would be enough to sway me to Obama if I didn't dislike McCain already.

At least Obama picked somebody with experience for his VP. So he can always ask for advice in situations. He's got a record I agree with in the Senate- and he's tough on drugs. Yes, he's a semi-supporter of the war, but wants the current administration to tell the truth to the American people about how much it really costs and how long we're going to be there. He does support the realigning of Iraq to form three separate ethnic states to try and ease conflict. Which is something I'm iffy on. He opposes ANWR drilling and supports government sponsored research into alternative energy- two big points with me.

Who are we to decide what's wrong or not for another country? It was absolutely none of our business to go into Iraq. We had no right to meddle in others affairs and act like the "peace maker" when we didn't even have our own country settled at the time. I can't blame other countries for hating the US, we're nosey as heck.

I'm going to have to go for McCain.
I just don't feel good about someone with less experience to be president.
Maybe in a few years when Obama has more experience.
