A beautiful, gracious and heartfelt speech. The best I have seen him give. I do feel for him and his family. He fought very hard and is a true Patriot and Great American.

I know that he will continue to work hard for our wonderful country.

Agreed. I didn't vote for him, but I think that if he'd just been the same guy he was all along instead of turning into something else altogether, he would have done much better.

John McCain's speech was total class. I've always liked McCain, I would have voted for him over Gore in 2000 if he had won the nomination. I didn't vote for him this time around because I think Barack Obama is an extraordinary candidate. John McCain is still a United States Senator, however, and I urge President Obama to work closely with him for the good of the entire country.

It was a good speech. What I found interesting about it was that he'd memorized it. You could hear the phrasing he'd practiced. It made me sad for him. The other thing that makes me sad is that he and Cindy never touch. The Obamas and the Bidens are always hugging, kissing and putting an arm around each other. The McCains and the Palins not so much. My husband and I don't often show public affection either so it's not a bad thing, just an interesting side deal.

It would be interesting to see what the outcome would have been if Obama had not broken his promise about the campaign financing and used public money OR if McCain had rejected public money and went to donations like Obama. Might not have changed results at all but would have been interesting to see a more balanced political race.

He discouraged the booing right away when he congratulated Obama. And he looked truly annoyed when he heard it.

I don't think that this was the campaign he wanted to run....not at all.

I hope he remains a senator and returns to the maverick I know he is....

this always makes me made it is alright for oboma to talk about african american but not McCain when he is just stating the same thing every news channel did about him being the first african american to be president it is always one sided he might be a good president but i did not vote for him because i will not vote for somone that will not put his hand over his heart for the pledge and dose not like the national atheum and i belive that every persident should have served in the military if they are going to be commander in cheif and have the say so on the military buy the way i hope the lawsuit with his birth certificate goes through and he will be striped of the election he has till Dec 1 to prove he was born in hawaii. McCain had to prove he was born in us because he was born in the panama canal zone sorry if i make anyone mad but enough is enough when you have to always say african american. who cares about race sorry if i made some people mad

John McCain is a class act. He realized that the majority of Americans chose to go in a different direction and he acknowledged that. I'm sure some of his supporters also feel this way. Heck, even Fox News seems gracious in defeat this morning. Maybe it will rub off on the rest of them....

He did not say Obama won because he was AA--which would be a ridiculous statement on its face. He just noted the historic nature of Obama's achievement.

It was a gracious speech, and I hope he means what he said about finding compromises. We can use his help.

I'm Canadian, so didn't vote, but my vote would have gone to Obama over McCain. However, I watched McCain's speech and I really was impressed. It was very, very classy and I have a lot of respect for him in how he handled what must have been a huge disappointment.
