Maybe not the place, but I just had to share with someone!

I am sooo happy that it looks like DH and I might actually get to go on our first WDW vacation. It started as a whim a couple weeks ago, and we decided that the end of October would be the best time. We both have work issues which we *hope* will be resolved by then. Things were looking good, we both requested and were granted the time off. THEN... my boss makes a general announcement (which included me) that if your staffing issues weren't resolved that no one would be going on vacation.

Huge disappointment. I would think that 3-4 weeks would be enough time to get some people hired and trained, but you never know. I certainly hadn't expected the problems to arrise like they did!! My heart was crushed, so much for a WDW trip, let alone getting any time off before the insane xmas in retail season.

But today I call in (my one day off this week) and find that she has approved TWO new people for me to hire, YAYAY!!! I'm not totally out of the woods yet, but as long as these two stick and we get one more, everything is a GO!

Sorry if this sounds silly, but I am just so relieved. I'm very ready to not stress so much about work and even more ready to finally get to go to WDW with DH (who's been waiting for it longer than I have!). Thanks for listening to my vent/jubilance! Cross your fingers for me!

OMG!!! five-minute-later update!!

Boss just called and approved final person for me!! YAY!! I am thrilled that this is just another one of those (big) things that need to get checked off my list before the trip.

Still crossing my fingers, but I'm one step closer!

Hooray! No, nothing about your excitement sounds silly, vacations are VERY important! Here's hoping everything works out for you--the end of October isn't very far away, is it!

How long are you going for? Are you planning to go to the Food and Wine Fest at Epcot?

I just accepted a new job yesterday and they agreed to give me a couple of days off in November so that DH and I can go to the F & W Fest for a long weekend (we already have reservations for a long weekend in October, too). DH and I are thrilled!

as soon as your trip is firm I would look into buying tickets for that, too.

I hope it all works out for you. I think retail would be one of the hardest jobs for me because everyone I've ever known in that field would have to work the most horrific schedules regardless of the holiday or what their needs were. You deserve a Disney vacation!

(A somewhat delayed but truly heartfelt) Thankyou to all of you for your kind words

And yes, everything has more or less worked out and we will be leaving for our vacaion in 5 days, YAY!

We will be leaving Sunday night, arriving early Monday morning and hoping to drag our tired selves around Epcot for a low key way to start our day and possibly go back to MK for Wishes. We'll stay until Saturday and leave that afternoon. We will be staying at POP, I'm sure we'll have a great time there.

And to answer some of the other Q's, we will definitely be checking out the Food & Wine festival. Most likely using a fair amount of our snack credits on the food samples there, too

We also have tickets for MNSSHP on 10/27 but are still undecided as to what (if anything) we will dress up as.

And being the crazy people that we are, we added the Water parks + option to our tix and will make every attempt to do Typhoon Lagoon for half a day or so and whatever else that option allows us to do, lol.

Anyone else going during this time? I hope we all have a great vacation!
