How do we get there and back ?

If we taxi to the Church (from CR) - about how much will it cost us from WDW ?

The how do we get back to WDW (to CR)?
Do we call a taxi from our cell phone # ?
What taxi company to call ?

Not that it's related to your question, but the Shrine is absolutely beautiful. My family and I look forward to going to Mass there every vacation.

DD & I went to Mary, Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, ash Wednesday. There had to be at least a thousand people there. It was a beautiful mass, just so crowed. It took about 25 minutes to leave the parking lot.

I saw people taking taxi cabs.

Happy Easter

Patricia

There are usually taxi's waiting in the church parking lot when mass is over. We got the # of the cab that took us but ended up just grabing one that was there.

Why do you think that there will be no Easter Mass at CR?

The priests at Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine used to do a Mass at the Polynesian Luau Cove. The website for the shrine explains that they no longer do so. None of the WDW resorts have Catholic Mass, since the only Mass I know of was the one done by the priests at the shrine. I know this is the case because we have gone many times to WDW, and attended Mass many Sundays and Holy Days at the shrine. Now, I usually avoid the WDW area around Easter, so I don't know from personal experience. I don't know whether there are any protestant services of any type, however.

I called CR yesterday, 3/14/07 and they said no Mass has been scheduled in a CR conference room as of yet.
I would think with Easter being 3-4 weeks away - a Mass schedule would be out by now.

We are planning to attend the 7:30 AM Easter Mass at Mary, Queen of the Universe Catholic Church. We will use Mears Taxi's.

The 9:30 AM Mass has a choir, as like our own Church, would be packed with people. Then the later Masses will also be packed, because of travel time by people or not being an early riser.

We attend Church every Sunday and on Holy Days of obligation - so Easter Mass is not to be missed while we are in WDW.

Besides - we do not have to be back at WDW till later that AM - we have a noon ADR at Chef Mickey's for Easter 'brunch'.:goodvibes

Pooh - This was a very interesting post, as I really enjoy reading about and seeing new churches. I liked reading about the history of masses at WDW. I am also so impressed with the credentials and accomplishments of the people who participate in the music ministry in locations like this.

I usually don't go to mass on vacation, but I am now very curious to visit this church on my next vacation.

We are planning to attend the 7:30 mass at the shrine as well. I was just wondering when we should plan on leaving All-Star Movies hotel. Does it fill up quickly? I have heard that it is beautiful and I am so exicited to attend. Just think.. to be filled with the holy spirit and then spend a magical day with my family. Life doesn't get much better than that :daisy:

We are aiming to be at Church by 7:10 AM for the 7:30 Easter Mass.
Ask for a taxi to pick up up Easter moring around 6:45 AM.
From EPCOT resorts - it's only 5 miles away (15 minute drive ?)

We plan to taxi there and back - unless the CR does have Mass.

When we were in WDW last week, we went to Sunday mass at Corpus Christi Catholic in Celebration. While their facility is nothing like the Shrine--the parish is so new, they still have to build a church--all of us enjoyed the service in the high school cafeteria. Yes, their weekend services are at the high school, so we were a little nervous about it, but it was a really nice service with a choir and everything. Corpus Christi is also a little closer to WDW property if you're staying in the AK resort area or if you're in an off-property sub-division like Windsor Hills, Formosa Gardens, etc. We wouldn't hesitate to go to mass at this parish again. Plus, there was no one telling us to visit the gift shop after mass. :goodvibes

About 2 years ago we were at Disney for Christmas and we were repeatedly told that there was no mass scheduled on site for Christmas day, or at least not one that anyone seemed to know about. I think it was on the 23rd that we came back to our room and there was a flyer listing the 2 masses at the Contemporary on Christmas morning. We went to the early mass and it was very nice. Just wanted to say don't count out an onsite mass just yet.

I agree with toystorymom.
Last year we were planning to go to the Shrine, but it ended up being at the Contemporary too!
I can't remember how late the decision was made, but I know we will be checking about it as soon as we get there. There are many many people who do attend the Easter Mass.

PS - the Shrine is simply wonderful!

We usually go to the Shrine, but were hoping to stay on property this year and go to mass at CR - I hear it is very nice. I would be surprised if they didn't offer it, since they just had it for Christmas. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, but make plans for the Shrine just in case!

What time were the Easter Services at CR in past years? Do you need to dress up or is theme park attire acceptable?

I don't know about Mass at CR, but at the shrine people generally dress as they would for the day's activities. Most of the people attending Mass are tourists, and they are dressed casually (although probably somewhat more conservatively).

The shrine church is huge. I estimate that it could easily hold 2,000 or more people. When we have gone, it has generally been no more than 2/3 full.

I noticed today the 2007 Mass schedule is posted on the Dis - same as last year. They ask that people not drive, but rather take Disney transportation.
