We will be staying at CSR next trip and plan to eat at Maya Grill, which looks great for myself and DH but can't see anything on the menu that DD would like - would it be frowned upon if we got counter service from the Pepper Market for her and took that in with us, so we can all eat together? She will be 14 so I suppose she could eat alone in the Pepper Market, but it would be nicer to eat together.

We will be on the Dining Plan so we would use 2 TS credits and DD would use a CS credit in Pepper Market - would this make any difference?

I don't know if they would allow it or not, but honestly I think it would be rude to the Maya Grill. I just wouldn't feel right about bringing food into a restaurant. That's just me and my opinion.

I would think if pepper market has it, Maya grill could get it if you just ordered it from there using a TS credit for her. I agree with shellybaxter and think it wouldn't be right to bring in your own food.

Well usually there is always a kids menu, but generall if the CS kitchen is close enough, they can get you something from there. Trust me I understand, my room-mate thinks the highlight of Disney is Mac and cheese and cheese burgers. We went to the Canadian restaurant just to have cheddar cheese soup (waited like 10 months get reservations), and we both ordered off the kids menu. But don't feel embarrased or anything, cast members generally don't care.

I believe that it would be frowned upon to bring your own food into any restaurant, whether at WDW or not.

That would be a better option in fact - our main concern was just finding something she liked on the menu rather than saving a TS credit. I remember when we had dinner at O'Hana one time, they brought over a kids meal from the Kona Cafe - this might open up a few more options for us - thanks.

I am curious, have you had your daughter look at the Maya Grill menu? it may be there is something she would like. At 14 I would think she would like ordering something in a nice adult restaurant. She may surprise you.

As long as you are using her "adult" DDP TS credit, most places are more than willing to let a 14 year old "adult" order off of the kid's menu. :thumbsup2

Unfortunately in the case of this restaurant, there is nothing for a girl who is extremely picky and a vegetarian so I was thinking of something like pizza from Pepper Market menu instead.

If she is 14 let her get food from the Pepper Market and eat int he room while you enjoy Maya. She's a teenager probably not adverse to a little time away from the units!

I think this situation calls for telephoning the restaurant directly; ask to be put in touch with them when you call the reservation #. You know better than we do what your DD will or will not eat, and the restaurant knows better than we do what kinds of things they can serve up for her.

I know the online menus for MG say "ask for vegetarian options", which infuriates me because if they have those options, put them on the dang menu! I don't like going into a restaurant blind; I don't know if the place considers decent vegetarian food a salad and some bread.

You may well be right there.

Also Laura, I agree with you - if there are 'vegetarian options' then they should be listed - but it may be worth ringing them in advance to find out what those 'other options' are.

Great idea! Have a great time! Let us know how you like CSR too. I'm staying there for fist time upcoming trip:wizard:

We will be on the dining plan in October. My son is a very picky eater, unless they have pizza or pasta and butter, I will either bring a pizza from a CS restaurant into our TS restaurants or let him eat before we go. To be honest, I really don't care if it looks "tacky", I'm paying a lot of money for the dining plan and I'm sure there are many people walking around WDW that are parenting in ways I do not agree with. I don't think feeding my son when he won't eat anything on a restaurant menu should be frowned upon and if it is I'll frown back. Linda

To the OP:
I wouldn't leave your dd in her room because someone thinks she old enough to be left alone. I would call the restaurant and ask if they can make arrangements for a different menu offering, if they say no ask them what are your options when your daughter will not eat any menu items.

Then why not go to a different restaurant where your son will eat what is on the menu. Disney is very good with picky eaters, and it shouldn't be a problem, but if it is, you might not want to eat at that restaurant.

My advise: Call when you get there. We just returned from CSR (has a blast by the way) and another couple in front of us were discussing the same thing. Due to health department codes, Maya Grill MAY not let YOU bring in a meal from Pepper Market, but MAYA GRILL should be able to get the meal for you. Have a great trip.
