What are the chances of WDW having another May 4th celebration this year?

With the success of last years event and with it being a week or so before the kick off of Star Wars weekends, I can see it happening.

Has anyone heard anything?

Don't know the answer to this, but I will be there that same week, so I am curious!!

Was that the night of the Star Wars fireworks for Limited Time Magic? If so, I think LTM is over.

I am curious about this as well. We will unfortunately be missing SWW this year, will be there on May 4th.

We are planning on going to HS that day decked in our finest SW gear.

Even tho LTM is over, I would think they would do something to recognize this day.

With them doing special fireworks on the 1st for the 25th anniversary not sure how much they would do a few days later on the 4th.

DD4L, what are these special fireworks you speak of?

We will be there from the 28th to the 5th, and I haven't seen anything about special fireworks.

Magic Kingdom was open for 24 hours on May 24 last year (not May 4).

My sister was there on her honeymoon. I told her about the event beforehand and she said she'd check it out. They were somewhere else that day but went to MK around 1 or 2 AM. She said it was a madhouse and she was surprised at the number of families dragging their little kids around at that time. Obviously, this is secondhand information. But I've been to Disney 5 times myself as an adult, and I can believe her.

DHS turns 25 on May 1 and will celebrate with a special fireworks show at 9:30 PM.:)

I don't think it is going to happen especially since Disney is going to show "Symphony in the Stars" every night of SWW.:)

I just can't se them doing "May The Fourth Be With You" again this year-I think that will turn out to be a one time event, but you never know with Disney.:)

So they are going to do "symphony in the stars" every night during SWW !!!!
We have gone for many years and wished and wished that they would do this during SWW's but they never did ... Are you SURE ???
I do not want to get everyone excited over nothing ... We are doing a BIG Graduation Trip this year bringing lots of people to celebrate our youngest graduation from high school !!!!

I was talking to a friend who's part of JTA for SWW and he said that they're definitely going to be doing something, as "May the 4th is their baby" so I'd expect at least something to be happening!

Two things that I seem to remember from last year:

Adults were able to participate in JTA

SW Characters were randomly walking around and riding stuff

I'm just wondering if any possible SW stuff on May 4th will be limited to HS?

May 4 was packed last year and tons of fun. I'd be surprised if they don't do something similar this year.

That being said, May 25 is the REAL Star Wars Day. :)

This thread has me freaking out a little! For months, I have been planning on making May 4 my DHS day based on it being the most recommended day on Josh's EasyWDW site. I have all my ADRs lined up and it would be hard to change anything at this point. I had never heard of "May the 4th be with You." It scares me that this date was packed last year. I am worried that even if there is no official Disney event, more people may come to DHS expecting an event like last year. I definitely DO NOT want to be there on a packed day. Yikes! :worried:

May the 4th is a play on the famous Star Wars line "May the force be with you."

Star Wars fans celebrate May the 4th in a variety of ways, but of course, it's "extra" special at Disney because of their affiliation with Star Wars.

Thanks, but, yes, I am familiar with the Star Wars line and I comprehend the play on words. The part I did not know was that this was made into a big event last year causing the park to be packed. Josh's service is free and helpful, but I will still be really disappointed if he was wrong to recommend DHS May 4 this year,, as the last thing I want is to maneuver with small kids and elderly grandparents through a packed park. :-(

I was there May 4th last year. It was a big deal because of the Limited Time Magic promotion, and Disney announced special events beforehand, like Star Wars characters and parents doing the JTA too, I think. However, I think if they were going to do anything for it, it'd be well publicized, not a surprise pop-up thing. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it :) and if worst comes to worst, changing things around wouldn't be that bad. I make a lot of random day trips and never have problems getting the ADRs I want, and so far have only had minor problems with FP+ the day of.
