Sorry I have another question now = i have got so much great advice from here!!

We are currently planning our trip which will be a 7 night Western Carribean cruise on Disney fantasy and then 8 nights in Disney World and then some time in NY.

We had originally planned on going in September especially because it seemed the crowds were smaller at this time of year at Disney World and the weather was still nice and hot for my nephew to swim!

However after doing some research it seems that it rains a lot in the month of September and also worried about it being hurricane season when we are on the boat.

So now we are thinking of going in May which seems like a great month to go however it seems to be busier in DW during this month and the weather is not as warm.

Can anyone please give me advice as to what month they think is best May or September or any experience you have with these months!!

thanks so much!!!

BobbyRach - I was lucky enough to get to the World in both May and October in 2010. Feel free to check out my TRs, the links are in my signature below.

May was a nice time to go if you can avoid the US holidays. Problem is that the different states start holidays at various times. May also used to be a nice month to go because there were "lower" crowds...but it seemed like in 2010, the word had gotten out and a lot of people were planning holidays in May thinking they were going at a less busy time.
We were there for 2 weeks and the first week was madness and the second week was great. It was hot in 2010, so we were using the pools at the resorts we stayed at. It is also the time of the Flower and Garden Show at Epcot; so you might want to see if this is something that appeals to you and your travelling party.

September/October are the preferred times to go for many Aussies. It seems to be less busy, Food and Wine is on at Epcot and Halloween at MK. Like you've pointed out, it is hurricane season but then you'll never know when a hurricane will strike or not.
If the hurricane and rain worries you, then May would be better. But Food and Wine and MNSSHP are major drawcards.....and Disney have traditionally offered 'free food' during this period to entice more visitors.

I can't say which month is better to visit the World. It just depends on what your interests are and what you want to do. I love gardening and I love food; so for me....I had a ball on both trips.
I would say pick the time that best suits you and whichever festival you prefer to see. Afterall, you are on holiday and at the World....you'll enjoy it either way; irrespective of the weather.

hey

my 2 cents worth...sept/oct...awesome time and all the little people are back at school....food and wine festival, MNSSHP, cheap airfares..need I go on???:goodvibes

and the more aussies there, the more at home I'll feel:thumbsup2

We went mid September thru to mid October last year and had no problem with the weather. We never saw any rain during the entire trip.

We did the 4 night cruise and it was fine except for the last nigth was a little rough.

Whilst I have not been in May the beauty of September assuming it is mid to late is Halloween. We took our 2 DD's to MNSHP and it was great. The show and parade were fantatsic, the theming around the park was fun as was the trick or treating the kids did.

Schools in the US also go back in the first week of September as well so the crowds are down.

My vote is also with September.

It may look like it rains every day if you look at the statistics but that's not ALL DAY every day. Because of the tropical climate in Florida an afternoon thunderstorm in not uncommon. But it only lasts a little while, and clears up pretty much immediately afterwards.

Having said that, have been there in Sept/Oct for the last two years and not much rain at all. Most days it was sunny all day and even on the days we did get rain, it came and went pretty quickly, and most of the day was otherwise fine.

Crowds were low.

In May (though admittedly it was 1997, so a long time ago, and no FastPass back then) the crowds were huge and lines were long.

I can only speak about May but it was a nice time to go. The Flower & Garden stuff pretty nice and the weather fine. It hovered late 20's to early 30's and it only rained twice the whole month we were there. Even that was only in the late afternoon for an our or so.

Thank you all so much for your replies.

I think we have decided on September now!! Now the planning can start.

Trying to find airfares for a reasonable price will be the first step. I have prevously only flown Qantas but starting to think VA will be a better option.

Thanks again!!

re airfares, consider Air new Zealand as well...they have great deals, although they do stop off in Auckland there and back.....

so V australia, ANZ, Delta and even Air tahiti are good....

so many choices, so little time:thumbsup2

also, whatever airline you decide to fly, join their frequent flyer program, the miles really add up syd-lax:cheer2:
