In browsing the Vatican online ticket website , I noticed that the regular tours cost 31 per adult or 25 for children 6 & up. Does anyone know how many people are usually in the group tour? There's also an exclusive guide we can get for the Vatican for groups of 15 or less. The cost of the guided tour is 250 in addition to the full entry price ticket of 19 per person or 12 for the reduced ticket per person. Would this mean a more intimate experience? For those who are doing Rome on your own, would you be interested in getting a group together for that?
I did one of the Vatican tours in 2007. The guide was excellent and I believe that we had approx 20 people in our group. She used the headset microphone so we all could hear what she was saying at the museum was very crowded.
The only way you are going to get a really intimate experience is one of the really expensive tours after the Museum is closed to the general public.
