In browsing the Vatican online ticket website , I noticed that the regular tours cost €31 per adult or €25 for children 6 & up. Does anyone know how many people are usually in the group tour? There's also an exclusive guide we can get for the Vatican for groups of 15 or less. The cost of the guided tour is € 250 in addition to the full entry price ticket of € 19 per person or € 12 for the reduced ticket per person. Would this mean a more intimate experience? For those who are doing Rome on your own, would you be interested in getting a group together for that?

I did one of the Vatican tours in 2007. The guide was excellent and I believe that we had approx 20 people in our group. She used the headset microphone so we all could hear what she was saying at the museum was very crowded.

The only way you are going to get a really intimate experience is one of the really expensive tours after the Museum is closed to the general public.

Up to 40 people per tour group.:jumping1:

Updated the web site with some new photos on the Roll Call. Also, added a link to Tom Ogg's Eport Reviews. There is great information there for folks interested in Do-It-Yourself port excursions.

Not too late at all. Sign up deadline is 15 April.

Have to admit i went the ebay route for my FE and just bought a standard one (not even a handmade one like gradysmommy makes). It does the job and has Mickey on it - cost about $5 including postage.

Where did you find the standard one you are referring to? I was looking into gradysmommy and they are quite expensive. Anne

Quick question... I see there will be a pirate night soooooo will there be fireworks as well? Also has anyone ever tried the tux rental before and if so would you recommend it?

I sure am hoping there will be fireworks! Fireworks off a ship sounds so cool!

DH bought one from Ebay, ended up costing the same as the rental.

Hello Friends! Counting the days for the trip!!! :woohoo:
Here you have our info for the FE List;

Dad G
Mom B
Our Son Age 10
Our Princess Age 7

Stateroom #7514
We will be celebrating our 11th Anniversary on May 21, and our Son's 10th Birthday.

Looking forward to meet you ALL!!!!

XOXOXOXOXOXO

:cheer2:

Welcome!! I am glad to hear that there will be another family with a baby!! My daughter will be almost 1 year on the cruise!!

And I see that we are confronted to the same interrogations as you. :rolleyes1
Normally, we will use a significant part of our luggage for diapers and baby food. :rotfl:
Then we will have enough place for our purchases during the travel. As we will not bring enough clothes for all the cruise duration, we will use the laundry in the ship.

As my wife don’t like the idea to let our baby to the nursery, we will do excursions by our own and at our rhythm. For places like Valetta (Malta) or Ajaccio (Corsica), we will visit the city by walk; to join Rome from Civitavecchia, or Pompei from Naples, we will take the train.
It means as also and unfortunately, we won’t go to Palo for dinner.

DH used the tux rental last year. It was fine, the tux and shoes were delivered to the room during the first afternoon.

The price was cheaper than buying a new tux and we also had luggage issues (our cruise was tagged ontot a work trip of mine so i had a lot of work related leaflets and clothes taking up luggage space).

This year i think DH will be having his own tux (or at least will take his black suit that can resemble a tux when coupled with a bowtie and cumberband)

i searched for something like disney pocket hanger. disney pocket storage

I can't remember exactly but something like those.

Thanks for the replies about the tux rental... I will more than likely go that route just to avoid having one more thing to pack and lug around! :)

As possible excursion from La Spezia, the territory of 'les cinq terres' looks like wonderful :sail:

Sorry, this link is in french, but it can gives you some ideas of the villages which can be reached by train from La Spezia:

As I have not enough message posted, I cannot yet give a link, then I must split the adress :confused3
cinqueterre.fr (preceeded by www)

Here is some information about how to move by train in 'les cinq terres' and from La Spezia (in english this time :) )

Yes, there will be fireworks (weather permitting). Nothing grand like you'd see at one of the Disney theme parks but pretty cool considering we're on a ship in the middle of the Med. On the tux, I take mine so no help for you there. Again, most men actually wear a dark suit versus a tux on formal night so don't feel compelled to wear one.

Will add you to the list.

Please add us to the FE list! We've been debating, and have decided it will be exciting for the kids to drop off goodies to other cruisers.

Details:
Hilari - 31
Jason - 36
Peyton (DS) - 9
Ashlan (DD) - 4
Room: GTY

Now onto Ebay to order one!

Thanks!
Hilari

Sorted :thumbsup2

For the FE particpants - does anyone have a feeling as to how many we should have taking part before splitting into two lists?

I'm conscious some people will have fairly restrictive luggage availability so don't want the numbers to spiral out of control. I want it to be fun for everyone, not a hassle in planning and space management.

Confused on the formal night. Which route are most of you taking:

Dark Suit or Tux. :confused::confused:

My DH has neither, don't really want to put him in a Tux, but if it is the norm for the men to be in a Tux my husband would be very happy to just wear a suit.

Thanks for your input.

Thanks for the info. Would the cruisline mind if I use a "hello kitty" FE? I couldn't find any cheap disney ones, but did find that one for $8 incl shipping. We are still debating whether to join the FE list. Will let you know soon. Anne

I don't think the cruiseline cares what you use as long as it is "family friendly" :rotfl2:

My door magnets include non-disney stuff e.g. sports team logos/photos and even a picture of a raving rabbid (from the Wii video game) and no problems there.

A suit is perfectly fine. My experience has been the majority of the men wear suits, or just a sports coat with a tie. DH wore a suit for the past 3 cruises before deciding to finally wear a tux for this cruise. He's doing it because he thought it'd be fun, not because he has to.
