Thanks for your answer. Can you add us to your roll call?

Me -Cindy 43
DH -Andy 45
DD - Skylar 8
Main Seating
celebrating DH 45 birthday and 16th wedding anniversary
we currently live in Belgium (I'm in the military and stationed @ SHAPE)
we have a room in Cat 6, GTY is our stateroom? (we got a really good deal for this cruise on 15 March, otherwise we would've never been able to do this trip)
56 days and counting:banana::banana::banana:

Cindy, would Skylar like to meet up with my daughter and have a playmate at the kids club? On our last cruise, we met up with another family with an only daughter the same age and they both end up enjoying the kids club, pool, etc. a lot more with a "friend". We'll be traveling with another family, but they have two boys...

Hmmmm.... interesting development (or DCL site bug) I just went to check if the Cat 12 GTY rooms were back available for our cruise, and they are now listing the lowest available category as Cat 7!!! So is our cruise that sold out? Or are they just messing with stuff in preparation for upgrades????

Sayhello

I hope it's not sold out because our chances of getting upgrades won't be as good!

Some of the folks on the 5/5 cruise are starting to get upgrades from the 12 GTY's. I saw one person who went from a 12 to a 8!

Hopefully they get to us soon!

Jill

Welcome to the cruise Ashley and Ricky!

Wow! Planning a wedding and the honeymoon cruise to the Med at the same time. Unfortunately, all the private tours I know about with vacancies left have only 1 spot each. I'm going to put up on the website a listing of private tour providers by port that others are using as well as providers that are highly recommended on cruise critic and/or trip advisor. Is your stateroom a guarantee category or did you book something specific. Also, early or late seating?

Edit: I added private tour providers that I had at hand under the "Private Tours" button on the Excursions page. Just click on the provider's name and it'll take you to their web site. Note ask about tour discounts from providers if you use them for multiple ports. Can save you $$.

Hi Jeff! Thanks for the warm welcome! :) I'm wondering if we're a bit too optimistic in expecting to pull together plans for the wedding and this cruise with just over a month left, but here's to hoping! :) For a little more info about us though, we booked a Cat. 12 and are "GTY" right now. We also have late seating for dinner, and the only Disney excursion we've booked so far is the "Sidi Bou Said and Carthage" one in Tunis. Also, thanks for giving us an update about the tours and tips on getting discounted ones, as well as all the info you put on the website! Thanks so much for putting that together! We're thinking of spearheading some more private tours at different ports... specifically an Amalfi Coast/Pompeii tour in Naples, an all-over tour in Rome, and perhaps a tour to Cinque Terre from La Spezia (or a Pisa/Florence one). Just wanted to get a feel if there was any interest from other people who are perhaps still looking for open private tours...??? If anyone is, just let us know! :) Well, thanks again for the updates! We look forward to meeting everyone onboard! Blessings...

You can do it Ashley! (think of Rob Schneider) ...especially given you're an experienced traveler. On the tours, there will be interest soon if there isn't now. A lot of folks have already booked private tours that have been on the thread for months but we've been adding people daily so I'd bet $$$ in the next 2 months there will be plenty of others coming on board. If you post the specifics of what you've booked or email me I'll put it up on the website so people can see it without scrolling through 80+ pages of the thread.

Hello Dopeyfan1966 and welcome to the cruise and our DIS thread! :yay: :disrocks:party:

Obviously, your focus should be on accommodations in Barcelona if you haven't already booked them. Airfare as well. Other than that, in terms of the DCL excursions, cruise ports I'd suggest you check out our website. There are links on there for most everything you can think of. Other than that, you can read back through the thread to get to know a bit more about your fellow cruisers.

Thanks Jeff, we are flying down to Girona and renting a car to Barcelona. We are flying on Ryan Air. We will arrive at BCN around 1130 - 1200, then catch the Disney Transport to the Port. I've been reading your webiste, just haven't had a chance to do it all yet.

All of your information so far has been very helpful. Thank you again.

Skylar would love to have a new friend. She gets pretty lonley/bored when we make trips like this with her. Now I won't feel so guilty leaving her alone in the club every now and then. :cheer2::woohoo::wave2::jumping1::dogdance:

See you on the cruise.

Morning gang. Hope everyone is well.

I'm just putting in a plea and reminder regarding the FE.

If anyone else wants to join up - let me know and i'll add you to the list.:thumbsup2

For those who are participating. Let me know your stateroom once it has been assigned. I will hassle you if you don't let me know! ;)

If you are thinking of upgrading at port, please also let me know. I am planning on running a mini-meet on embarkation day where upgraders can let me know their new room number (I'll arrange to be in a specific place at a specific time) and i'll then distribute a revised FE list on the first evening.

I am planning on trying to upgrade so figure a new list may be required onboard. On my last cruise there were a couple of people who upgraded and it got complicated because they didn't tell anyone until after the first few FE deliveries had been made.

Can you also make sure that all relevant info regarding your group is in the FE list details on page 1 of this thread - if not please let me have the following:

  • Numbers (and preferably gender) of adults and kids in your group.
  • For kids an approximate age (so gifts can be tailored if appropriate).
  • Adult ages are optional.
  • If your group is multiple staterooms - are each room participating separately or are they taking part as one group - which room will have the extender outside if combining. It is normally each stateroom separately - but combining is ok aswell
  • If you are celebrating a special occasion (birthday, anniversary etc.) some people may tailor gifts accordingly
  • Anything that you really can't receive (e.g. due to allergies or chewy candy because kids have braces)

Hello all!! You have all been busy! I haven't checked in for awhile and there are about 10 new pages! LOL!

Welcome to all the new cruisers! And I am keeping all my fingers and toes crossed for everyone's upgrades. :yay:

Thank you for posting that the Blue Grotto was back open! Got it booked for our travel companions!:banana::banana:

BTW, Dopeyfan careful with your luggage and Ryan Air. We took the Disney trans-Atlantic Cruise and flew back to Germany, we are stationed in Stuttgart, and they wanted to charge us over 400 Euros for extra luggage!

We did Port Adventure on the way back from the TA also, it was so great!

Jill congrats on the new car!!! That calls for an extra Ritter's!:cheer2:

Thanks, we have flown Ryan Air before, went with no luggage, came back with a suitcase full of souveniers. They charged 25 Euro for that bag. For this trip I prepaid for 2 bags at 30 Euro each way. Hopefully we won't have any issues.

Hi DopeyFan1966,

I won't be the only one coming from Belgium for this cruise :thumbsup2

I live at around 20km from the Shape.

For my part, we will fly with Brussels Airlines and will arrive at Barcelona late the 14th and stay one night at an hotel nearby of the airport (Tryp Barcelona Aeropuerto), before joining the cruise.

Hi guys

Do you think you have more chance of a upgrade if you are a castaway member?

how many cat 12 cabins does the magic have?

I think the upgrades are really random. Some people feel that if you have cruised before with Disney (castaway member) that they already have you as a repeat cruiser and then they sometimes give upgrades to new DCL cruisers as they want them to become repeat cruisers. Who knows how it really works. I do know there are only 13 cat. 12 cabins all located on deck 2. They have sold many more so at least after the 13 everyone else gets upgraded. Keep your fingers crossed! Good luck, we should be finding out soon.:)

Hi tripodjw!

Please can you add us to your FE list. I've been toying with the idea for ages but have tonight explained the concept to my DS and to say he is excited is an understatement!!

I have just ordered a FE & Personalised Pillowcase off Ebay so hopefully they will arrive soon!

See you on the cruise.

:goodvibes With an only child, I find that I'm always helping her make/meet new friends. My experience has been that she's more willing to go to the kids club (or even look forward to it) if her "friend" is meeting her there. Hopefully, they will hit it off!
