I would check back periodically. Since you can get a full refund on most of the excursions up until, like, embarkation, I'm betting a lot of people booked "just in case" excursions, and may cancel. I wonder if DCL would do a "waitlist"?

Sayhello

Sadly, no I asked. I tried everything. I'll keep trying. Thanks!

Hi everyone! My DH, Jared (28), and I, Heather (29) just booked this cruise last week. We were originally booked for the 4 night Wonder but then saw what great deals DCL was offering for this cruise, so booked it. We have a cat. 12 gty and have the late dinner seating. We're going to be celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary on the 18th.

This is our very first cruise EVER and are so excited. And of course, since we are allowed to book everything starting March 1st, I am in mega planning mode thinking of excursions and Palo, oh, and of course, airfare. There's tons of info to take in here and I'm excited to start with the planning. Any suggestions?

Can't wait to see you all on the cruise!
Glad you will be joining this cruise Prinny! I don't know what your plans are but I booked private excursions, one is for Rome and I have 2 openings for that one. If you are interested in information send me a PM and I will email you all the information.

My DS(9) and I will be on this cruise and are very excited. I finally received approval from his school since he will be absent for 10 days. I booked our excursions on Sunday and the only thing left is the flights. I am just deciding on which airline and will probably book this week.

Interesting - when you check availability for our sailing every category comes up guarantee except for 4 & 5. Looks like they want to have a lot of flexibility when it comes time to assign staterooms. I would love to know how full the ship is since so many have taken advantage of the $999 price break.

PM'd you!

Just want to say Hi and a big welcome to all the New people who have signed up. The days are going fast now :cool1:, so at least you havent got a long countdown.

On a different note I got my $100 credit per person today as well.
It seems that its everyone who booked before Dec 1st so I only just made it :).

That *is* interesting. Just on this thread, I think I've counted between 25-30 reservations done as Cat 12 GTY. Which means at least half those people get *some* sort of upgrade! And we know we're just a small percentage of those that sail. Man, I'd be thrilled just to get a Cat 9...

Hi Prinny,

I am from NJ as well, and we just bought our airfare last week. We are leaving out of Newark on Continental on the 13th. We have 1 stop on the way there and a direct flight on the way home. It was $748 a person. This was the cheapest/best options in our area- I have been looking since December!

Okay, so that's not so bad then. I was hoping we'd find good prices out of Newark and not have to get to JFK! I'm just going to keep looking a few times a day for the next few weeks and hopefully we'll find some good prices!

Just to let you know I booked my flight on Thursday and the same flight went up and is now $827- There are other flight times that are currently $748

Hello Everyone!

We booked this cruise while on the Eastern Caribbean May 2009. My DH's parents are joining us, too.

We are in cabin 7501.

We are David and Kischa with our kids, Cailin and Zach, who are teenagers.

Early Seating (hope this works out OK).

We are planning on flying into London a week prior to departure, spending a few days there and a few days in Paris. Then on to Barcelona for our cruise.:yay:

Hi Folks we are first time cruisers and looking forward to arriving in Barcelona from the UK.

Lee, Adeline and Madison.:surfweb:

sayhello - I'd be floored with a cat 9 - the last time we booked a guarantee we were given a cat 12 cabin. But that cruise was canceled at the very last minute which is how we ended up here.

Personally I wouldnt get your hopes up with a cat 9, although that does seem to be the highest upgrade a typical CAT 12 GTY gets. Having done 2 cruises solo I have only gotten an upgrade to CAT 11 and 10. I have not seen any solo get a cat 9 on these boards. While technically we should have as good of a chance as anyone, I suspect that DCL gives the bigger upgrades to the larger parties. Which I personally dont think is fair as we pay 160% as it! Oh well we are on the ship all the same.

I hear you on that one! This is my first GTY and I bet all of us solo cruisers stay in Cat 12. I've never been upgraded in my previous 3 Disney cruises.

At least Disney is a little more reasonable on the single supplement. I had to pay 200% on RCI. :confused3

That is true I once did the math to compare similar cruises on the various lines when taking the single supplement into account and DCL was similar price plus the rooms are bigger. Personally although I would love to have a cat 9, I booked a cat 12 and I will be fine if I get one, actually I like not having the split bathroom when I am by myself as I have more room, and I'm not sharing it with anyone.

ITA! I've always been in a Cat 11. I'm not there to hang in the room. :) I've always had plenty of space and I'm with you...no need for the split bathroom. Now if I could get the mythical upgrade from 12 GTY to a Cat 6 I wouldn't turn it down. Sorry, just woke up from that dream! :rotfl2:

Sounds like there are a lot of solo cruisers. I'm usually the only one. :)

Really, the only reason I want the 9 is for the window. I *HATE* *HATE* *HATE* waking up in the dark. But I will manage if I don't get it. Still, a girl can dream...

welcome Lee Adeline and Madison

Does anyone know what time we will be able to board the ship, as we have a early flight from the UK and arrive in barcelona at 9.55?
