Curling irons/flat irons are allowed. You just can't bring clothes irons. (There are irons in the laundry rooms.)

I can't wait to leave!!!!! I'm so ready to be pampered.

Jill
Small travel clothes irons not allowed ? Darn, the ones in the laundry room get replaced pretty often but seems like when I get there they have already been burned. I usually travel with a compact travel iron that I use when the hotel does not have one in the room but guess that is not an option here.

Nope. I know a lot of folks send their pressing out. Disney charges 50% of the laundry price for ironing. Downey Wrinkle Release is good too.....I think Target has some small travel sized bottles in the Travel section by the pharmacy.

Our suitcases were pulled out this morning and the first thing that went in was the FE gifts. They filled up a whole carry-on size luggage!

Totally off topic but...How much should we tip our Palo waiter? What's average and what's good for exceptional service?

Hey Jeff, The segway tour seems like alot of fun. What tour company did you go thru and how much? My family and I think we might just try that. Plz send me a PM regarding info. Thanks Kia

well i just checked our Delta seats as well and sure enough, most changed. first agent we could not understand each other, next could not do anything for me, finally a supervisor who got things moved around so we are back together on most legs and the msp to atlanta we are in pairs of 2. thanks for the heads up, those things really irritate me when i find out at the airport.

Maybe I will call back. The agent I got was terrible. Wish I could afford the upgrade to Business this trip. :(

Hi Kia, not sure if Jeff is using the same company that I just mentioned in my previous post but here's their website... http://www.barcelonasegwayglides.com/
I think we're paying 60 euros pp. Check them out on trip advisor, they got great reviews. Nancy

me too but i didn't have enough miles to business class all 4 of us and if i did just 2, well you know girls, it would not have sat well.

also Jill, they sent me to the international desk and then finally to a customer service supervisor, she is the only one who was even interested in trying to help out.

Another agent and her manager and no-go. I have to go to the airport and see if they can change it the day of. :(

Yes, the hair dryer is bad. I forgot about that in November and suffered a whole week. I don't really style my hair either but just drying my hair & DD's take a LONG time and the hose sometimes gets so hot I couldn't hold onto it.
OK, looks like, as much as I hate to shlep a hairdryer when there's already one in the room, I'm going to have to bring my own. Thanks everyone, for the heads' up. :thumbsup2

I booked a Segway tour of Barcelona today the afternoon of our return on 5/26. We loved doing the Segway tour in Epcot a few years ago so this should be a lot of fun.

Are you using the same company as us? We are doing our tour on Thursday afternoon, May 13th.....we also had the best time on the Epcot Segway Tour in January. I was afraid that I would make a fool of myself on one but it was much easier than I thought. :upsidedow Frank was really good at it and having so much fun on it that the WDW guide told him he should come work there.
Oops, I realized that I didn't mention the tour company in my previous post about the segway. We booked with Barcelona Segway Glides;rated #1 by Trip Adisor of things to do in Barcelona.:yay:
I did a Segway tour in Nassau (the only good thing about Nassau, BEFORE the ill-fated excursion...) and I really enjoyed it. I was amazed that I totally did not suck at it. But I'm probably going to be too whacked out on the 14th. I probably shouldn't be allowed to operate any sort of motorized vehicle anyways... :confused3 :rotfl:

Hey y'all, if you booked your airfare a while back and haven't checked your seat assignments in a while, I recommend you do so. I just happened to pull up our reservation to show a friend what type of plane we are on, and noticed that our seat assignment on one of the flights had changed, despite choosing and confirming them at booking. My husband was moved across the plane and several rows away from me. Luckily I was able to change it back, but what a surprise that would have been when we checked in! Thanks to my OCD, I'll be checking everyday now.
I always check my seat assignments obsessively. A year & a half ago, I flew Delta to Miami for a cruise, and they changed times, planes and my seats on a regular basis. At one point, they switched planes, and assigned me a seat that didn't even exist on the new plane! They finally changed the flights so much that we only had like 20 minutes between the 2 legs, and I had to get them to re-book the flight. I will never fly Delta again if there's any other alternative.

Yeah, just checked mine and I'm stuck in the middle seat of the middle row of 3 seats! ARGH!!!! Looks like the flight is full so I'm stuck until I get to the airport. Maybe I can beg and get a better seat.

Jill
I would do my begging now! Talk to a supervisor!

Me, too. That's like when I was trying to fly to Chicago, left work super early, only to arrive at the airport to find my flight was delayed by 3 hours, and they never tried to contact me, even though they had 3 different phone numbers for me as well as my email.... sigh...

Maybe I will call back. The agent I got was terrible. Wish I could afford the upgrade to Business this trip. :(
I wish I could afford the upgrade, too. I am *NOT* looking forward to this flight. The wonderful cruise at the other end is the only thing that's going to make it tolerable. Of course, I won't have that incentive on the way home.... :confused3

Sayhello

85 % of the flights into and out of Minneapolis are now Delta since the Northwest merger so we are stuck. If we fly another airline we have to go through either Chicago or Denver, the flight is long enough already.

Are you using the same company as us? We booked with Barcelona Segway Glides;rated #1 by Trip Adisor of things to do in Barcelona.:yay:

Yep, same company for the same reason. :)

Checked our flights/seats on AA.com and everything is just as I booked it.:cool1:

Totally off topic but...How much should we tip our Palo waiter? What's average and what's good for exceptional service?

Tipping questions can be tough. Personally, for Palo, we figure about what the meal would cost elsewhere and then tip the server based on that and the quality of service, which is almost always excellent.

Has anyone booked a reservation at the Adventure Park in Corsica? Tuesday I sent an email on their website requesting a reservation for 8 and so far nothing :confused3 Not sure if we can just show up and hope for the best or try to confirm the reservation. Thoughts?

Tracy

Thanks to the fantastic board here we have it both by e-mail and phone that they will be open. My family is going and hope to be there when it opens at 10:00. The plan is to stay till noon or so then drive our car north along the coast and see what we see.

Started packing tonight!! Just the formal and semi-formal wear at this point but will start working on the rest of it soon. This makes it oh so real.

We were going to do "Florence on Your Own," through DCL and then do the "Hop On, Hop Off" tour. Now I'm thinking of doing a private tour in Florence.

This is what I've looked into, (this is a Florence only excursion, it does not go to Pisa)

You'll be chauffeured about 1 hour, then you'll reach Florence. (Total time is 9 hours, getting us back around 5pm)

First of all your driver will take you along the Viale dei Colli, we reach the marvellous terrace called Piazzale Michelangelo (named after the artist who sculpted the original David statue). Here you'll have one of most beautiful view of the city. Nearby you can also see the white and green marble façade of the S. Miniato al Monte church - an example of the Florentine Romanesque style. After leaving the church, we follow an uphill road, bordered by the ancient city walls, until we reach Forte Belvedere , built around 1590 by the Grand-duke Ferdinand to protect the Medici villas. From the Fort Belvedere we'll drive true the old gate of the city - Porta Romana, we come to the imposing Pitti Palace , which hosts many galleries and museums (Gallery of Modern Art, Costume Gallery, Palatine Gallery, Royal Apartments, Coach Museum , Silver and Porcelain museums, etc) and a magnificent park called the Boboli Gardens.

Then we'll drive to the city center, to Piazza della Repubblica , surrounded by the historical literary cafés, where, long ago, important intellectuals gathered together. Following the Via De'Calzaiuoli, which connects Piazza del Duomo (S. Maria del Fiore, the Baptistery, Giotto's Bell tower) to Piazza Signoria (Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi , loggia dei Lanzi) you will be able to admire the best masterpieces of Renaissance art, breathing in the magical atmosphere that only Florence can offer.

Our driver, completely at your disposal, will be more than happy to take you to Piazza Santa Croce to visit the Santa Croce church, where many famous Italians are buried, and then take a must-deserved rest. For those who would like to shop or the hungry soul, there are also many shops and "local trattoria" to dive into, so everyone in the group can satisfy their desires whether it be a leather jacket or a scrumptious plate of pasta! Shopping, can be a unique experience in Florence . Walking through its ancient medieval streets, exploring the city's renowned tradition of crafts and family-run businesses. Few cities of comparable size can boast of such a profusion and variety of high quality goods with Italian design. The most important street for shopping is Via De' Tornabuoni with designer boutiques like, Gucci, Prada, Ferragamo, Armani, Vuitton,Valentino , Cartier, Trussardi, Eleuteri, Buccellati, Coveri, Versace, Tiffany, YSL, Zegna, Desmo, Chopard, Tod's, Cavalli etc. We can also see what the local craftsmen have to offer in the small local workshops in the Santa Croce or Santo Spirito neighbourhoods, or practice your bargaining skills at the San Lorenzo outdoor market.

At this point, you could choose to visit the Academy Museum to take in the original David statue by Michelangelo (the David statues found at Piazzale Michelangelo and in Piazza Signoria are both copies and pale in comparison!), or ride up to visit the ancient Etruscan town of Fiesole above Florence to admire another view or explore the old Roman Amphitheatre.

Is anyone interested in this tour? It will cost 600 Euros for 5 - 8 people, and there is 3 of us. We have space for 2 - 5 more people. So if anyone is interested please pm me or send me an email at cindy_perrier@yahoo.com.
