May Med Magic - May 15 2010 - Meet thread - Part 2

I'm the same...don't feel like i can get too excited until we are actually on the plane!! Think my DH is going to have a heart attack when he gets home and i tell him that we now have 3 suitcases instead of 2....although he should expect it...the last time we went on a cruise(10 yrs ago) my case weighed 60kgs :scared1: Can't believe i was actually allowed on the plane and they didn't charge me any more:cool1:. Don't think it would be the same today!! Anyway hope everyone travelling gets there safe and sound:thumbsup2
So far Air France to Paris is a go...all packed and ready to go. Wish I was there now. I will feel much more settled.

Well, we are all packed, the bags are in the car, and we leave work at 2:30 en route to the airport for our 5:55 pm departure to Madrid from DFW. So far, so good. The flight operated last night, but arrived one hour and 40 minutes late. We may miss our connection on Iberia, but if I'm in Madrid, I'll find a way to Barcelona!

I wish you all safe and enjoyable travels, and I really look forward to meeting some of you at the fountain Friday night!

Pixie dust and prayers!

Theresa

We're out the door !!! Pixie Dust to you All !!! Here's to happy and safe travels !!!!

See you all in Barcelona and the Magic !!!!

Safe travels to all who are traveling today! We travel tomorrow. Will be looking for Jeff and maybe Sayhello. I am hoping and praying everything goes fine with our flights. After more than a year of planning I can't believe I can say.... I'm leaving tomorrow!!!!!!!:cool1::banana::cool1::thumbsup2

Safe and timely travels to all!

We fly out of PHL Thursday evening on flight 068 at 9:15pm. Anyone else on the same plane? It sure can't come soon enough - for some reason the closer it gets the more surreal it seams. Hope that's not a bad omen!!!

In my line of work its pretty difficlt to do the work without access to the files but i guess i could at aleast check drafts from my trainee and reply to client emails. Which might help me not have to use vacation days if i do get stuck.
Don't want to lose vacation days if i can possibly help it.

Yep, that is my plan, client e-mails to tell them I am considering their argument and will rule within 60 days. If we get stuck in Spain on the return I can hold up somewhere with my computer which gives me access to my files so I could write orders from there. :thumbsup2

Safe Travels to all leaving today !

Am having the last of the Iced Tea and DD is taking her last final, both will be done in an hour. Finish last minute items around here and then it is our turn. Positive flight news so far today but was considering rowing to Spain if they don't fly. Wait, with our luck the oil slick would hit the gulf stream and catch me off the coast and I would end up like a oil drenched sea gull. :boat:

There are 2 cops on the current cruise who have notified me that if we are unable to make the flight they would take our cruise for me so I don't lose the room. Now are these great guys or what ? :confused3

For those of you interested in the board games, do you want to pick a time/place to meet on the first sea day?

It looks like we're all in the late dinner seating, so I was considering 5pm in Diversions or the Promenade lounge. However, I don't know if that interferes with a pre-dinner show, or if the lounges are full then, so someone who has more Disney cruise experience than me is welcome to suggest something. I'm happy to play after dinner too.

I don't think our room number ever made it onto the roll call. We're in 2641.

Good luck and smooth, ash free air to everyone flying. We're driving back to Barcelona tomorrow morning.

Safe travels to everyone leaving today! I'm sending out some pixie dust that everyone gets out on time! We don't fly until Friday night at 5:30 on Delta, so still crossing my fingers that they get it together!

We are travelling with 3 suitcases and 2 carryon's, that was after I downsized!! I just couldn't reduce any farther. Safe Travels everyone!

Hmmmm... I wonder if we'll be anywheres near each other in the Terminal, so I can come complain with you guys!

(Of course, as much as I'm dreading a 4-hour layover getting expanded to 8 hours, I'll take it if it means I get there in time for the cruise! Amazing how your priorities shift.)

Sayhello

Sorry apparently my response didnt post or I can't find it :confused3

But, we will be in terminal 7 sometime after 630pm. Our Jet Blue flight lands into Terminal 5 and then we have to take the AirTrain over or maybe we can walk not sure at this point. I hope your flight is ontime but if not I think I can be able to recognize you from your roll call photo.

Don't take this the wrong way but I hope not to see you, because it means you left ontime :goodvibes

Does Disney have the same carry-on rules regarding quantity of bags as the major airlines (meaning one carry on bag and one personal item - laptop bag or purse)?

Both of my kids got home yesterday from Auburn University. My son graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering (woo hoo!). Mike I think I mentioned to you that DD Katy (Zoology/Pre-vet program) had applied for an internship at the Memphis zoo this summer and she got it so she's tickled about that. We'll be moving her over to West Memphis (my mom's), which is about 15 minutes from the zoo, after the cruise.

I'll add the room to the Roll Call today if it's not already there. On the time for the games, lounges and shows, the show for late dinner seating is at 6:30. As far as playing in one of the lounges after dinner, they typically have live entertainment in all the lounges after dinner so I think your suggestion about before dinner is better. You might consider 4 or 4:30 versus 5 pm. I was going to suggest Sessions lounge but DCL uses it for the various wine, beer, margarita, martini, etc. tastings on sea days. We can play in Promenade even if the entertainment is going...just get over off to the side.

No, there are no limits on the number of bags brought on-board.

We went from 2 checked bags for the 3 of us to 5 bags for the 3 of us. Plus our 3 carryons. I think I'm bringing too much, but I feel better safe than sorry. Actually, one bag is for the FEs (if they ever arrive).

Pixie dust to all those traveling. We don't leave until 7 am Saturday morning. I'm really freaking out over this whole thing. My husband says he will drive the 13 hours if he has to so we make it on time. :scared1: Don't know where we will park our car, but I'm sure we can find some where.

My bags are packed, I'm ready to go...... I'm leaving... On a jet plane.. Don't know when I'll be back again! Everybody now...
We are at the tri cities airport about to board our flt to Atlanta. As of now, the flight is scheduled as a "high priority" to depart by delta whatever that means. Anyone have a more up to date report on the ash cloud? I would love to know what I'm flying into. I hope my plane doesn't suck ash.

Latest news on the ash cloud is quite good. The images on iaa.ie (Irish Aviation Authority) show that all is diminishing, and Spain should be clear pretty soon. It's probable that we will have to fly around it a bit in the Atlantic. My flight from DFW arrived one hour and 40 minutes late to Madrid last night as a result of the go around. We did the same thing last Friday from Frankfurt.

But, as long as airspace over our cities stays clear, we should be in good shape! The iaa.ie web site updates every few hours.

It is with heavy heart that we write to say we have canceled this trip. We are not able to get into Barcelona in a reasonable time. We started out yesterday at 3PM from Orlando and flew into Philadelphia. After a 12 hour delay and being on the tarmac for 3 hours US Air Finally officially canceled the flight at 5:30 AM this morning. When called to rearrange flight they said the earliest they could get us there was Sunday. Our flight was canceled due to Operational issues.

I'm so sorry to hear that. :sad1:

Have you tried calling DCL to see if you can catch up with the boat at Malta or Tunis? Or is that not feasible either?
