May Med Magic - May 15 2010 - Meet thread - Part 2

I made it to Barcelona this morning after a very smooth travel day. Met Mike and family and Blake in Atlanta. I survived the dreaded middle seat but will be glad for my window seat on the way back. I did ok with luggage but remembered that I forgot to pack my Fish Extender after I was already at the airport! Doh! I do have my FE gifts (that caused me a secondary screening at security!) but I will have to rig up something to hang on the door.

I braved the rain today to visit La Familia Sagrada and the HOHO bus. Saw the Dragon house (sorry can't remember the name!) and walked Las Ramblas where it finally stopped raining!!! The market was amazing. Came back to the hotel and took a little nap as the lack of sleep was catching up with me. I missed the Fountain meet as I woke up with a horrible headache/upset stomach from no sleep, no food, and too little water. I'm good now but can't sleep!

Sorry I missed all at the Fountain tonight, I looked and did not see anyone so we we on the steps about half way up to get a better view. See y'all tomorrow on the ship.

First, I want to apologize to the group that met at the Eurostars. I ended up doing dinner with the Spencers on Las Ramblas, and we took the Metro to the fountains straight from there. i'll see you all tomorrow on the Magic!

arrived a bit later than planned. Due to a flight switch Iberia did in Madrid. by the time that flight was landing, I was feeling seriously yucky. crowded, suffocating flight with your knees & nose pushed into the.seat in front of you. I ended up taking a taxi to the Eurostars, and collapsing into bed. water &food helped somewhat, and I went for a walk on Las Ramblas. a bit after I returned, Jeff called to say they were headed to Las Ramblas. so I joined therm for some tapas. met lots of folks at thee amazing fountains, I'll report more on that later. had a great time. I'm fading here, so I'd best post before I get really incoherent!

I'm sorry to have missed that now. It's 2:45 AM and I still can't sleep! What time are people getting to the port in the morning? I need to get onboard first thing to change my Palo reservations.

Ok, that was creepy. The 666th post on this thread was my 999th post! It's only fitting that post #1000 is sitting in my hotel room in Barcelona waiting to get on the Magic tomorrow.

We sail today!

Official sweepstake results is 45 pages as of now (i did say when i got up on Saturday). And the winner is.... sarahgirl

Prize is a packet of Jelly Babies (peterpanstout inspired me when asking what they were). Will hand these on at a meet or deliver once i have my luggage onboard.

I'm heading to the port at around 10 - see if there's any upgrades available - hopefully see some of you there.

I'd like to accept this award for all the posters in my life who made this possible. My family and friends who made this possible, and never stopped believing in me.... Ok that enough for now.

The fountains were a ball, I went with HappyMoney and Pixiedust families from Eurostars, and made alot of great friends. I can't wait to get onboard. It's 8AM and all I want to do is go to the port around the corner! I will see you guys then.

I think I'm doing ok, I conked out around 11:30, and woke up around 6:30, and could not get back to sleep. Biggest problem is one I for see having a lot: breakfast was a buffet only, and I ate too much. . Oh, well. That's what Pepcid AC is for...

We just got up after finally getting more than a few hours sleep. We're going to grab some breakfast and head to the ship. Here we come Magic!

We're onboard. Took us just under 30 minutes to board from the time we got out of the cab. Time to get in rooms is 1:30. We spent 60 euro on breakfast at hotel and now we're not hungry for the free Disney food. Not terribly smart on our part.

Thank you Carol. For those cruising after us, the muster drill was changed to 4 pm instead of 5 pm and the sailaway was scheduled at 4:30 but occurred at 4:45 because of a light shower. The DIS meet in the Prominade Lounge was great. We had well over 100 show up!

Didn't check back while in port but it's about 5:40 pm on our first sea day. We (DISers) had fun with our wine tasting and stateroom crawl. Thanks again to all the stateroom hosts who graciously allowed the rest of us to roam through your rooms.

Weather has been sunny and warm today. Seas have been 8 to 13 feet so the boat's been rocking since last night. Things seem to be smoothing out a bit.

Those on the first two cruises recommended avoiding the steak on night 1 - we'd agree. Not the best cut of meat so consider the seafood risotto (very good).

Oh, and anyone considering blogging who uses blogspot.com it is a fact that the maritime satellite link they use blocks blogspot. They will only allow you 60 minutes connection time to such spots, which screws me up because blogging is why I bought the 500 minute package. I can still email posts to blogspot, which is what I guess I'll have to do.

I don't know why DCL keeps telling people there are two semi-formal nights because there hasn't been. Seems to be a waste of packing.
