I've been checking car rental rates like crazy - plugging in all the different codes off of Mousesavers or wherever else I can find - and decided I can't be the only person checking these things and thought we might work together. For those of you who are also going during this time, what car rental deals have you found? And if you find something new, please post here and help out your fellow Dis'ers!

We're going May 27 - June 5, but only really need the car for our off-site days of 5/27-30.

ETA: I just booked a Thrifty "hot deal" for a total of $110 on a mid-size car. No code or anything. I'll still be on the look out for something better, though!

I have been checking also for the 2nd half of June, hoping for a good minivan deal. Haven't found anything great yet. Still hoping.

I got a compact at Dollar using a city special for late June. The price was good, and has gone down twice since I booked. If you go with Dollar, make sure to get the Dollar Express. Really shortens the wait time in line!

The entertainment book has a double upgrade coupon on their internet site. I booked a midsize for June 1-11 (10 days). With the double upgrade coupon, I got a full size car for about $260.00 for the 10 days. I think that is a good rate. I may try price line as the time gets closer.

I'm an EC member so I'm interested in knowing if anybody starts seeing National's rates dropping (IF they ever do) for June/July (dates are 6/29-7/6). Minivan's are STILL quoting for over $600/wk. (no code) which is just ridiculous. I check daily, and it's been stuck on this price since I booked our trip in May '08. I expected these inflated prices when I was looking at it a year ago, but sheesh...our dates are less than 5 mths. out so it's making me nervous. And I guess it doesn't help that we're travelling during a holiday period, but I thought booking Tues to Tues would help :confused3 .

Everybody-air/car/me-is being so tight  .

I've been pulling my hair out trying to find a decent rate for 05/27-06/04. The best I've gotten is $170 through Alamo, which I guess is pretty decent at this point. I'm going to keep checking.

Hello all I thought I would share my info with you. I booked Alamo for May 28th - June 9th for the rate of 307.00. This price is with all taxes and fees. I had two codes that they let me use one was for 25% off and one for a 1 car class upgrade. So I booked a compact and ended up with a Malibu (Mid-size). I was told that it would hold 5 people and 4 lg. suitcases. Happy hunting to all!

I've been looking for June 18-25, and couldn't find a base price under $200 for the week. So I had booked a 3 day for a total of $97.46 - staying at Kidani at AKV, so I wan't thrilled to only have the car part of the time. I decided to check Hotwire and Priceline. Hotwire was giving me a mid-side for a total of $171. I tried Priceline a couple of times ($10-$12 per day) and was rejected. I tried Priceline this morning at $13/day and was accepted - total with taxes/fees for the week is $157.

The rental is through Hertz, but I don't mind the shuttle to save some money and be able to have the car the entire week (I was going to have to shuttle to the Alamo car center during the week to return the car I oringally reserved).

Go to Alamo.com, use id #7014627 and cpn#AU2649JDK (double upgrade), reserve a compact (will be upgraded to standard) the total comes out to $249.XX for your time period (with additional driver for free). I just plugged in the dates with noon as pick up/drop off times.

THANKS! I just canceled my other reservation and used these codes to get a standard, 6/21-6/30, $188.xx! (my canceled ressie was for a midsize, and $204.xx) :cool1: $16 saved!

Can you tell us where this is from? Don't want to be caught without a coupon should they ask for it. Costco has a 1 car upgrade available thru the costco web site. Double upgrade would be even better. Thanks!

The ID# is Costco and coupon code is thru Entertainment book online. You can get Costco id # by looking at costcotravel.com.

Thanks soooo much for this info I rebooked today and went for the full size car and Im still only paying 268. Again thank you sooo much for your time.

We are looking at a one way from FLL (May 22) to MCO (June 6). We currently have a rate through Alamo of about $390 using the Entertainment double upgrade. Today the rate more than doubled. Had we been doing MCO to MCO, our rate would have dropped, glad we booked when we did though.

Where do you get the double upgrade coupon? Do I need to buy the Entertainment book?
Thank You

I got it online. I do have an Entertainment book, but it's an unlimited use click-thru coupon from entertainment.com... .

So if I were to buy a book, I would also get this coupon? I'm thinking of getting a book, but not sure if there are enough coupons that I would use.

Do you need a print-out of the coupon to show at Alamo?

Sorry for all the questions, thanks again!

It is unlikely that you will be asked for the coupon. If you know someone who has a book, just borrower their card. You do need to know the codes that are only available online to those who own books.
