So, I am not quite sure where to post this, but since we are DVC members, and our december honeymoon is based on our points, I figured this would the place :cool1:

Bottom line: I am SICK of hearing people in my life, ESPECIALLY co workers almost snarky comments of how /when/where my fiancee and I choose to vacation.
So what if we are going on a two week honeymoon?? We work hard, and are fortunate enough to have bought into DVC. This is our only real extravagence, so why do I feel like I am constantly justifying our plans?? Furthermore, why do I care?? :sad2:

I don't walk around talking about it, unless someone asks, and even then I am vague. I dread even telling anyone about my honeymoon! (work wise)
Vent over!

Both of my Sons went on a two week Honeymoon. Don't worry about it. Sounds like some jealousy to me. I wish I could have taken two weeks. Congratulations!!!

My husband of almost 7 years and I were not making hardly anything when we got married and went on a 10 day honeymoon to WDW. We scrimped and saved to do it because that's what we wanted to do!! So sorry to hear that your coworkers are not excited for your upcoming nuptials and instead are being sour grapes. I think it bothers you because most people are excited about this sort of thing and they are just being, well, not very nice!! :) Have fun and come tell us on the board all about your plans, honeymoon or wedding ,and we will all be very excited with and for you!!

The "venting" time is up...........go and enjoy life. Dw and I have been enjoying it for 42 years today May 4th 1968. WOW!....... LIFE IS GOOD.

Just 2 weeks? Many on this board spend a month or more every year at Disney.

2 weeks at WDW sounds perfect and is a small part of what a lot of people spend on the wedding itself. Have fun and enjoy yourselves, and if you really want to make them made have the wedding at WDW.

There will always be people with snarky comments on ANYTHING you may do. Some people are completely ignorant.

Good for you taking a two week honeymoon! When I got married (in the 80's--now divorced) we went to Acapulco and I was bored. I found that after the hustle and bustle of wedding planning, going to a place to relax was just too much of nothing! I needed to slowly decompress and a trip to WDW would have been perfect. Lesson learned.

All the best to you....:lovestruc

I think it's the little green eyed monster JEALOUSY! My friend and I both love Disney and when I told people I was going back in August and she told people she was going back next year, you should SEE the look on their face, like "what are you rich or something??" People just don't get it. It's your life, it's your honeymoon, just smile and say "Yes, we are going for two weeks, it's going to be great!" :goodvibes People are so rude I just can't believe it sometimes.

The world would be a much better place if people learned to mind their own business. I really don't understand why some people feel they are justified in telling you how to vacation and how to spend your money. You even see it on these boards whenever the topic of financing DVC comes up. Just tell them to "Have a Disney day!"

Enjoy your time at Disney. The only people you have to justify things to is each other.

A couple of years ago, my stepkids went on a 2 week vacation out west with their dad. My wife and I wound up going to WDW for a week by ourselves without kids. We got some odd looks and comments from certain friends and family. But you know what? We enjoyed ourselves a ton and that's all that mattered.

And to Husurdady,

Congratulations on 42 years!!!!!

First of all, Congratulations!! Secondly....I would LOVE to be able to spend 2 weeks at WDW!!

Forget everyone. As long as you and your fiancee are happy that's all that counts!! People are idiots sometimes and should learn to follow the old saying "if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all".

People always give me "the look" when I tell them where I'm going on vacation. Do I care?? H#LL NO!! This is MY vacation (our vacation :)) and we go where we want! That's it; discussion closed.

Concentrate on things that are important; like your up comming wedding and that WONDERFUL HONEYMOON IN WALT DISNEYWORLD!!! YEAH!!!!

Go enjoy and don't give a darn about what other people think. Tell them to get a life and stop worrying about yours;)
Happy planning

I TOTALLY understand where you are coming from. My mom and I bought into DVC and since I am moving this year and we have extra points we are doing a blowout vacation since I don't plan to return for a year or two:sick: I work in a bar and people always make smart comments about how can I afford to go every year and that they are apparently "tipping me too much"(as if). I just reply in the sweetest way possible that I am a saver...I don't smoke and I don't drink and if you think about how much money you spent a year on these two things...well you could go to Disney too!! I see nothing wrong with smoking or drinking its just not what I like to spend my money on. Disney is my vice:laughing:. And yes they are probably jealous...I'd be jealous too!!!! Snarky...no...jealous..uh yeah!! Have an awesome trip!!!

What an awesome honeymoon! Congratulations and enjoy!

In my office we have one guy who owns a condo in Vermont and goes there almost every weekend, another guy who rents the same beach house every year, and someone else who never goes anywhere on vacation. But every thime I go to WDW, I hear all kinds of junk from the peanut gallery. Some people just don't get it.

I too get looks from people and the comments "Disney World again?!" Whilst I think most people understand, there is a minority who say things like "Sounds like hell on earth", "It's only for kids!", "It's all so false" etc. etc.

But the annoying thing is most of them haven't even been!! Indeed, the worst ones are those who would rather spent their summer holiday in a 18x10 caravan in a field (which in our climate isn't a lot of fun and I use the word 'summer' loosely).

Another gripe of mine, is people saying "Universal is better than Disney"!! Ahhhhhhhhhh!! Are they mad!! Don't get me wrong, I don't mind US, but there is no way on earth that it's better than WDW!!!

End of rant!!

To the OP:

Are you planning anything special for your honeymoon, like Victoria & Alberts?

Talk all about your honeymoon here! We understand....

Agreed. Please talk all about it here; DISers love, love the details.;)

I get that kind of attitude a lot from friends, co-workers and family. However, it usually turns out that none of them have ever been to either WDW or DL. So they just don't understand. There are others that think a "stay-cation" is just fine but I don't criticize them for that. Still others feel they can't afford a vacation yet think nothing of driving an expensive car, eating out at least once a day and carrying a Coach purse.

My DD is almost 14 and her dream wedding is a Disney wedding with a Disneymoon, staying on our DVC points.

Ditto. Initially I found my dander up and the need to be on the defensive. Now I just smile and say, "Have a Magical Day!" They don't get it, I don't care, and I can't wait to hear those two wonderful words, ":welcome:HOME!!" And all is right with the World.
