May Exercise Challenge- 38,344 minutes!!!

Got lots of exercise in this weekend at Disney - including "running" the 5K and scavenger hunt after.....will try to make send of numbers and post later to my total.

5/4 - warm up/sculpt - mostly working legs

5/5 - the weather canceled my plans for a walk :( so I did a HIIT - Hi intesity interval workout, only 18 minutes, but killed me! Had planned to do some sculpt after, but needed a break first and just never got back to it.

5/6 Beautiful weather, finally got my walk! 97 minutes, 5.9 miles, had I known how close I was to 6, I would have gone to the next mile marker. Also not much running cause my knee started to bother me into mile 3. 10 minute stretch/yoga after the walk. 8 minute stretch/yoga again at night.

5/7 - 8+12+5+10 morning yoga/stretch + evening: arms, abs, yoga/stretch

New total - 253/1200

May 7 - 60 minutes Bob Harper Yoga for the Warrior
5 minutes strength training with 10 pound free weights

Thanks Keenercam,
may 1 six and a half mile walk to work 118 minutes
bike (with accident oops) 15 minutes
may 6 half mile on crutches 20 minutes
may 8 half mile on crutches 20 minutes

total minutes 173/1200
You have to love the city:confused3

5/7: 20 minutes treadmill
5/8: 20 minutes treadmill

I just have to, have to, have to mix it up when we get back from vacation!! I want to try Jillian's DVD again, but I can't make myself push play on the darn DVD player! :rolleyes2

Good for you for doing the treadmill on vacation! I had to :rotfl: about the not being able to hit the play button!! Been there, done that.:rolleyes2

This morning I did 30 minutes of wt machines (just couldn't do the extra 10 today) and did 45 minutes cardio.

300/1200

235/1200 50 on the elliptical this morning

Took 3 days off though yesterday I was cleaning all day. Hoping to get another 50 in tonight. I only have 1 or 2 days left to use the elliptical in the early morning. Have to figure out when to get in my workouts!

TTFN :tigger:

I keep telling myself I am going to start using the myriad DVDs I have at home, but never seem to have the discipline to exercise unless I go to the gym.

Check my math/color changes on your totals, everyone. Hopefully, you are getting the credit you deserve in the first post.

I think this will end up being a rest day for me. I have to be up at 5 tomorrow (a little earlier than my "normal") to have my first session with my new personal trainer (his name is Kyle). He specializes in working with individuals who are recovering from injuries or who have chronic or permanent conditions that limit them. I am hoping he will have come up with a plan that lets me strengthen my knees/legs without any further impairment/injury. Depending on how things go in the morning, I may still try to make it to the gym tomorrow night after work for my deepwater aerobics class.

Ok, so here I am after my weekend at Disney.

Thursday, 5/3 - Walking around resort and DTD, total of 2.56 miles = 60 minutes total
Friday, 5/4 - Tour of MK (all walking), walking to Contemporary, around ESPN and then back to MK, total of 6.58 miles = 120 minutes total
Saturday, 5/5 - The Day of the 5K! Walked around Hollywood Studios, plus the 5K, plus the Scavenger Hunt, total of 8.91 miles = 180 minutes
Sunday, 5/6 - When I should have just taken it easy, but walked the Flower and Garden Festival in some wicked heat, total of 6.17 miles = 120 minutes

So this brings me to 480/1000 so far!!!

5/7 - my allergies were bothering me, and i didn't want to go outside for a bike ride, so I did 45 minutes of Wii Fit/Active. I forgot how much that makes me sweat!

220/875 for the month.

Does anyone bike much? Any recommendations on padded bike shorts..i would like to go further than the 5-6 miles I have been doing, but, man, is my bum sore!

thanks!

5/08 - 10 minutes ab workout, 20 minutes treadmill (30 minutes total)

May Total: 190/600

I have got to get some good shoes. :worried: I have a lump forming on the back of my left heel that is so sore! Couldn't walk my full 35 minutes on the treadmill today, it was so sore. I've tried literally 5 different pair of shoes ... Skechers, New Balance, Avia, Saucony, and Nike. They all aggravate the bump - they're just not fitting the back of my foot properly and they rub up and down ... thus causing the lump, I figure. Can't figure out where to go from here. Any advice/suggestions? The New Balance I've been wearing were professionally fitted at a running store ... they seem to be the worst of the bunch! :rolleyes2

Oh no! I hope you feel better soon! You're a trooper!

Sounds like fun! How did you like the EEC? DS and I had a blast (it was hot though!)

Cam, good luck with your new trainer!
BearcatsFan, I have no advice, other than to perhaps pose the question on the general WISH board. I hope you find shoes that work!

My motivation for this week is to work off the food I ate in Disney this past weekend

I did 100 minutes at the gym (run/walk/stairs warm-up, upper-body and core weight machines, elliptical)

Brings me to 374/1200 for today.

Thanks for the concern, I sprained my ankle last week but it's healing fast. Hopefully I will be off my crutches by thursday and fully back into my training program by the end of the month. Untill then I'll do what I can.:)

It sounds like shoes that are too big. Do they feel loose at all when you are just walking around in them? Not on the treadmill, just regular walking?

I got in 45 minutes today. A 30 minute walk in the rain. I was actually quite nice. 10 minute ab workout and 5 minutes on arms. 5 minutes does not sound like much but my arms aren't much! lol. Using 2 pound weights for now. I'm thinking this will be good for my non-C25K days. I'll try to add to it gradually.

295/1000 :cool1:

I did the 30 Day Shred this morning. I'm on day 7 of level 1 and I'm finding a huge difference since day 1. I am able to get through almost all of the workouts without collapsing! I'm also seeing better strength and flexibility. My only problem is I keep thinking "I've only got 3 more to go until I have to bump it up to level two!" and I'm scared! :rotfl:

I also did a 20 minute yoga workout. I haven't done yoga in forever, I forgot how much I enjoyed it. I was feeling so calm and relaxed. You know how they say dogs are attracted to good energy? Lets just say my dog came in and laid down beside me while I was doing it. :lovestruc She's my little yogi.

I have a narrow heel. A woman at the running store showed me how to lace them to tighten up the heel a bit. Maybe that will help.

LuLu - Thanks for posting that. It's what I was going to suggest, as well, since I have a narrow heel. Lacing it like that "locks" your foot back against the heel of the shoe so that it doesn't move. I can't do any distance without lacing my running shoes like that.
