May Exercise Challenge- 38,344 minutes!!!

I realize too late to join the May challenge, so I was wondering if there is going to be one for June? I am new here and really looking to get involved in something to keep me accountable. On my own this past year I have lost about 30 lbs, still have lots more to go though. It is very hard to do without support, was hoping to find that here :)

107 minutes of running (8.0 miles - new long run!)

1549/1600 for the month.

Ted

Took too many days off last week - just not feeling up to it or motivated. :confused3
I have actually been better with the walking though, and have stopped any running for now due to joint pain.

Mon - 0
Tues - 40 - sculpt
Wed - 71 - walk (4 miles)
Thurs - 9 - morning stretch/yoga
Fri - 0 (no time since I needed to go grocery shopping and was not motivated after dinner).
Sat - 118 - Walk (6.7 miles) & stretch
Sun - 27 - 20 tai chi, 7 abs

Total - 1015 / 1200

I was interrupted this morning or I would have done a bit more. Might continue this evening.
I was planning to garden today but the heat was too much and I gave up. If it doesn't rain I may try again later. I have way too much work to do in the yard. :worried:

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

Yay! 90%!!

Continuing the walking/running plan, just trying to stay in my HR zone for as long as possible to build up endurance. It's getting hot here in the Deep South, so good practice for power walking around the parks.

We like to say that where we live has five seasons - Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall, and the fifth season - Hades.

I can so relate to you! I'm still trying to figure things out, but isn't it great to be able to come on here, rant all you want, and get such great support? I don't have any words of wisdom to add, but just am in agreement that you are doing a great job. Forget the scale! Each day you're getting stronger and no matter what the scale says, you are succeeding in ways you don't even know right now. Keep up the good work!

As for me, I woke up in such pain (hate the fibro!) I didn't go to the gym. I'm feeling better now and hope to walk with DH when he gets home today. Everybody have a great Memorial weekend as well as a safe one!:goodvibes
Thanks for the kind words, this place rocks, so inspiring and motivational, no matter what mind frame I'm in!
Fibro = fibromyalgia by any chance? My mother was diagnosed with it and I have all the same symptoms she does but have never seen a doctor about it. If that's what you mean, I literally feel your pain!

Don't give up! :thumbsup2

Remember, you want to stay healthy even after you lose the weight you want to lose - even if the numbers aren't going down yet, you're establishing healthy habits for the rest of your life. That's something to be VERY proud of, and something that doesn't necessarily show up in numbers to everyone else or even you. Every time you eat a healthy breakfast, or drink water, or exercise (even just a little bit without a huge calorie burn) you've made a point that you care about your health. Don't let yourself forget that!

Also remember that if you're building muscle and losing fat, the number might seem to stay the same.
Thanks for the support and encouragement :goodvibes You're right of course, my lifestyle is better no matter what the scale says. :thumbsup2 I was having a hormonal day! :rotfl2:
-------------------------------

I've been busy and a bit behind on updating but I've been exercising!

Friday - 30 minute bike ride (first time I took my dog biking, she did great!) and a 20 minute walk
Saturday - 50 minutes of yoga
Today - 30 minutes 30DS (I haven't given it up, I just do it less often and my wrists are thanking me for it!) and 50 minutes of yoga.

New total:

1220/1400

So happy tomorrow is a no work day!

5/26 82 minute 15!! mile bike ride
5/27 40 minute 7.1 mile bike ride

949/875 - so i exceeded my target, which in hindsight, i should have set higher, but i know now for future months what i am capable of!

It is always wonderful to see new challengers here. :welcome: I am sure there will be a June challenge. The only question is who will host it. :)

--------------------
Hi, everyone! It sounds like everyone has been very active over the past several days. How wonderful! :thumbsup2 I'm sorry I have been MIA, but we've had a very busy few days. I am going to catch up on everyone's updates in the first post (including mine). My activity the past few days:

Friday 5/25 - walking to and from court in heels with a heavy briefcase for two separate hearings - 40 minutes

Saturday 5/26 - 20 minutes rowing; 30 minutes bike; 30 minutes strength, core and set of 6 intervalled excercises

Sunday 5/27 - 90 minutes half- marathon walking training session

My new total is 1785/1800.

Oh WOW!! Super cool! You guys have to go check out the first post. Look at all those color changes! It's so pretty! Lots of turquoise and red and lime green! :thumbsup2

You guys are totally rocking this challenge this month!! :cool1:

I am so proud of everyone who joined this challenge and just so impressed with how hard everyone has worked. I hope you are all having fun with it and that you have found that being part of this challenge thread has motivated you at least a bit more than you might have been otherwise. I've loved being part of this! :grouphug:

So, June is fast approaching, my friends. Some WISHers have expressed here and in PMs a desire/willingness to host the June challenge and I am glad to defer to someone else.

So, who wants to do it? Whoever that is might want to start the thread in the next day or so, so that people will hit the boards posting on June 1. Just post here to let us all know if you are going to host it, and we'll jump on board on your new thread as soon as you start it.

If I can answer questions for someone about how to do any of it, I'm glad to, though as you can see it is pretty simple. [oh, and none of this is to say I don't want to do it, but I definitely want whoever else wants to host to do it and I didn't want to be so presumptuous as to just start the new thread, since whoever starts it is the only one who can edit the first post.]

945/1200 80 minute walk around my little town!

OH jeez, gotta love those days!!

30 day shred and some walking today. We leave for WDW on Saturday!!! so I think I'm going to try to do weights in our hotel room every other day (our hotels don't have fitness rooms!) before heading out to the parks.

CC we should try to get together at least once and go for a walk or run or something in June.

Sounds great!

What is up with the heat around here? I'm in northern CT and fans are on throughout our house.

:woohoo: on your half! Definitely looking forward to the Summer Challenge! Thought I'd post here that I'm taking ideas for Healthy Habits themes for the Summer Challenge. Please, though, PM me because I want as much as possible to be a surprise. :cool1:

ETA: I should probably updated my exercise minutes. :rotfl:

Saturday: 24 min. recumbent bike
Sunday: 15 min. walking
Monday: 32 min. recumbent bike

455 + 24 + 15 + 32 = 526/900.

I might make my goal. Going to really push myself to get in another 100 minutes before June 1.

Have a great week everyone!

Mostly walks, but I did run Saturday for the first time in 2 weeks! I don't know why but I did my long (3.27 mile) route. I didn't die, didn't have the slowest time ever, and am not too sore so it all worked out!

I am counting 5 minutes of exercise for cutting a branch off our apple tree! Don't know how long it really took, but know I had to take some breaks. The branch was a bit above my head (because I was too lazy to drag the ladder from the garage!) and my arms got tired. But glad to have it gone.

Since today is a holiday I didn't have to chauffer anybody anywhere and walked to my girlfriend's house so we could do our 3 mile walk. That added 15 minutes each way! The dog is very tired!

Hope everybody finishes strong this week!

35 minutes. C25K W5D1. I am felling better and more confidant with every session.
I broke my second goal! Next month I am going to have to step it up even more!

1425/1400

So far behind this month. :guilty: It's so easy to get into the pattern of "not having the time" to exercise. Time for me to get moving! :yay:

5/27 45 minutes; stretch, strength, cardio

30 minute run - with a gully in the middle, so there were hills coming and going! :rotfl:
