May be old news, but thought I'd mention it--AP Rate E-mail for all of 2011.

I just tried and was told no. The CM said I had to have a AP Pin code, just having an AP wasn't good enough.

This is correct. These AP pin code offers are very random. I've been an AP holder for 15+ years and have only gotten a pin offer for AP holders TWICE. It's been 2 years since I've gotten one and it was for the 40% off all resorts on selected days. I did not get this last one and haven't seen one for a long time. We are a family of 2 AP holders, both cards are registered and throughout the years other members of our family are AP holders (they let them expire and get a new one). I too have written letters about how I don't feel the love for passholders. I've even gotten calls back, but no change and no promises. When I HAVE gotten pin offers I write positive feedback/letters telling them what a great offer it was. About 3 years ago I got a Minnie stay and shop holiday pin offer. I got 50% off at A/S Sports (the only resort available) and a 35% shopping discount, WDW wide. I booked a 3 day trip and took advantage of this offer. I wrote back and told them that this offer did exactly what they wanted. They got me to book an extra trip (I had already gone 5 times that year and was done for the year.) I spent 1K shopping for collectibles and shipped everything back. I've never seen an offer like that again! Though I'm not sure I could afford it if I got it too often!!

So for you NEW AP holders, these random PIN offers are truly random, so don't buy an AP if you think you will get these offers as you will be disappointed. Even us veterans don't get these PIN offers on a regular basis. The only thing you will get is the offers they release to all passholders. BTW -- the website is always out of date! (passholder since 1995)

I'm wondering - is the point of the AP Pin to book your trip earlier than if you had to wait for AP discounts to be released? Or does this imply that there will be NO AP discounts for the dates that are blacked out in the Pin e-mail?

If it looks like the latter is going to be the norm, then I don't know if we'll renew our APs.

I'm feeling a bit frustrated that Disney is changing their discount offers more randomly than I would have expected. No bounceback, blackouts on AP rates - they certainly don't want to reward frequent visitors in any way, then.

I love my Disney vacations, but I'll have to adjust my attitude about them. I am the one who preaches that a Disney vacation doesn't have to break the bank but now maybe, it will!

I would be willing to bet your guess is as mine or anyone else. Disney is not consistent with much of anything when it comes to the discounts, AP or otherwise.

Even though I received the AP pin, I'm not at all happy that they are offering the discounts in this way. I have always been a proponent that AP rates, in a certain quantity, should be released at the beginning of each fiscal year just as AAA rates, etc. Then, if need be, more could be offered in each season based upon need to fill the resorts. Seems much simpler and would tend to keep the passholders happy.

So, have any of you written to the passholder section of WDW to tell them about your concerns? Just wondering. I did it last year when the GP got discounts on their rooms before they were released to passholders. They called me and said they were trying different ways to release discounts and trying to make it "fair" to all visitors. The CM said they hadn't really heard many complaints about the way they release discounts! So please, don't just complain and vent to each other, let WDW/passholder section know how you feel.

I wrote to the "regular" WDW guest relations (the "Contact Us" page on the website) about the AP PINs, not to the passholder section. Is there a different "contact us" for passholders? Can you post the link or e-mail address? Thanks.

I contacted the website and used the "AP section" of the drop down menu. I received a response saying that the AP Pins are random and they are first come, first served. I think that it is totally unfair that not all AP holders get the Pins, and I feel that Disney does not care. I now regret renewing.

I am slightly frustrated with this as well. I know it is up to Disney to decide how and when they release discounts and I am thankful that they even off them. With that said though I will not be renewing my AP if that is how they are going to be released. In the past the AP was useful because with the discount I could justify at least 2 trips a year. Without those discounts we will only be traveling once a year or maybe not at all. So I will not be handing over money up front to disney in hopes that I might randomly get an email with a pin. I actually think if this practice is continued that Disney will lose alot of AP holders since people will not be able to justify paying the extra money for multiple trips.

The last time I wrote, I did a "real" letter. This is the address I used. They will call you after they receive it.

I understand sending pins randomly to people who plan on the website. But I also do not think it is fair to offer the code to only some AP holders. Since I have an AP, I am going. Why would Disney prefer that I stay offsite or at the SoG instead of one of their properties? I just checked for 1 night in April (no discount) $190 for POP. Sorry, I am definitely staying someplace else that night.
