May attendance

We will be there the first week in May and are SO glad we changed our trip from the last week in April, when we were originally planning to go.

Maybe its because I am used to June and July, but when I was there last year May was like a dream to me. The first two weeks didnt seem bad at all with very little wait times and easy movement around the parks.

I was there the first 2 weeks in May 2010 also and I didn't think the crowds were bad at all. The heat was worse than our prior 3 May vacations but the crowds were fine.

I've been on a solo trip during the first week of May and the crowds were very low- good luck!!

Here's a pretty good calendar for May Disney World crowds.

Crowds do pick up a bit at the end of the month.

We've been heading down to WDW every May since 2004 and have been during the first part of the month, the middle of the month, and the end of the month. Unfortunately we have seen a very steady increase in crowds each year no matter when we go. I really think that with all the discounts available, there really isn't a slower time at Disney any longer.

You need to remember the Flower and Garden Festival is on until May 15th, then Star Wars weekends start the weekend of May 20th for 4 weeks - both of which bring crowds to the parks.

Touring Plans says that the Cheerleading championship and grad nights are the first week of May. While it may not make the parks anymore crowded, it could make the resorts more annoying (the cheerleading part, anyway). Personally, I'd do the second week just to avoid that!

Keep in mind that on Fridays in early May you will get local school field trips. Last year on the first Friday of May we were at Epcot and it was crazy crowded with school kids from local schools. That night was much better however. I spoke with a CM about it and he said that it happens every year on Fridays in May. He said that after 3pm it would be better and it was!

Well I'm going in early May, but can't get that Free Dining pin to save my life. Since it's not announced to the general public, crowds might not be TOO bad. Then again, with my luck ...

As happy as I am getting the FD pin, I understand what you mean about the crowds! We chose the QSDP because I do not want to fight for ADR's. I truly hope May has medium crowds, not too hot weather, not too rainy weather and please no more fires!

How do you get the FD pin? I thought pins were usually just sent to AP holders.
