May at the Poly! Home & catching up on work...TR to come soon!

Hi April,
We did have some melting...and the mounds of snow at the end of every street have gone down a little...it was around 40 degrees yesterday and about the same today....so maybe the snow will be gone soon :rotfl2: Don't think so!!

You will love Via Napoli is you like thin crust pizza....I loved it...yummy!

That vegan bakery you mentioned - Baby Cakes...is that at DTD?
I hope you get to go cause I can't wait to hear that review! :yay:

Don't you love that the downgraded the forecast for tomorrow?? And they say next Monday & Tuesday will be 40 degrees!! I can't wait for that. The middle of this week, though, the lows will be in the single digits.
I LOVE thin crust pizza! Does Via Napoli have a good variety of topping choices?
Baby Cakes is in DtD- but I didn't look hard enough to find it last time I was there. I am definitely going to find it this time & I will let you know what they have & how the cupcakes are!! I eat sweet stuff maybe twice a year, so I'm looking forward to that place. :)

Those of you who know me know how easy it is for me to start feeling really down- especially in the winter. Well, today, I was feeling pretty awful. My co-worker asked- "Aren't you going to Disney soon?"- I told her it wasn't until May. But then I thought- I could use some shoes to wear to dinner in May. I got an e-mail for a $50 discount at DSW AND I had a bunch of DSW gift cards. Needless to say- 5 pairs of shoes will be coming my way later this week!! I only spent $27. :woohoo:
Plus the last bit of good news- 99 days from today, I will be in WDW!!!

This snow is making me insane. I have an hour commute to work (one way) and any snow can turn it into 3 hours. Today I woke up to find 3 inches of snow on the ground & completely untreated roads in the city where I live. I was pleasantly surprised, though, that all of the highways and the roads in the Town where I work were just wet- they kept up with plowing & salting. This is a view outside of the building that I work in:

On to day 5…May 21st:
Now, I haven’t been to Star Wars Weekends since 2004. I remember it being very crowded & very warm. I have a few photos from that trip. I was MUCH thinner then and it maked me ashamed of myself to see how much weight I have gained since then! I cropped my friend out of the photos because I’m sure she doesn’t want me posting random photos of her online.

I have to say that I wish I was more prepared for it. I’m going to do my research this time & hopefully get there early & get some autographs. I have to ask around for some tips and advice about how early to get there & how everything is organized. I am a complete Star Wars nerd. I freely admit it. My favorite characters are Chewbacca and General Grievous. I love the fact that General Grievous is in one of the promotional posters this year!!! They are all here: http://www.starwars.com/fans/events/2010swwposters.html

So, on day 5, I plan to get to DHS frighteningly early to get in line. If anyone has been before or can offer some advice, please post. The only other thing I have planned that day is dinner at California Grill. MK is open until 11pm that night, too, so maybe I’ll head over there after dinner if I’m not too tired.
Day 6…May 22nd (Last day!): I plan to go over to Epcot for a while & wander World Showcase (I want to get an FP for Soarin’ at some point, too). I’m saving some money for shopping this time, so we’ll see how much damage I can do. I want to start my holiday shopping SUPER early! I plan to end the day at MK for Extra Magic Hours. I didn’t plan a dinner because I really love Cosmic Ray’s & Columbia Harbour House. I want to stay until park closing.

The next day, I leave for the airport at 9:30am. I will be sad to leave, but at least I’ll get in some good park time. I’m beginning to change my mind about renting a car. I really want to go to Universal & IOA, but I may skip them. Don’t worry- I will change my mind 47 times before I leave.

Have a great day, everyone!

Sorry your feeling blue...keep your countdown in mind....99 days will be here before you know it!! :goodvibes
5 pair of shoes for $27.....that's awesome!!! I'm jealous There is nothing like a new pair of shoes to make you feel great!
and it's truck day at Fenway...that alone will cheer you up!

We lucked out here this morning, not much snow or slush on the ground...this morning we mostly got a very light rain...
untreated roads are awful...

I hope you get some good tips for Star Wars weekend...I've never been

I thought Via Napoli had good pizza choices...if your not sharing, the individual size is good for one person...it's not tiny by any means...I got the Margherita...yummy, yummy!

I couldn't get a link to paste in here, so here is the pizza menu:

Margherita - tomato, mozzarella, basil
Quattro Stagioni - eggplant, artichokes, parma cotto ham, mushrooms, mozzarella
Pepperoni - spicy pepperoni, tomato, mozzarella
Carciofi - artichoke, pecorino, mozzarella, truffle oil
Prosciutto E Melone - fontina, mozzarella, pecorino, prosciutto, canteloupe
Quattro Formaggi - mozzarella, parmesan, fontina, provolone
Mushroom - portobello, crimini, tomato, mozzarella
Ortolano - tomato, mozzarella, vegetables
Piccante - Italian Spicy Sausage, brocolli-rabe, tomato, mozzarella

Way to go on getting a great price on 5 pairs of shoes! You know I love a bargain!

The only real tip I have for Star Wars Weekends is to show up really early so you can get in line for the Fastpasses to meet the various Star Wars stars/actors/creators.

OMG...pecorino is cheese, right?? If, so, I'm all over that Carciofi pizza! Thanks for the menu!
I didn't even remember today was truck day at Fenway. I'm determined to go to a game this year.
I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that my ride home is not too bad.

I can't believe I bought 5 pairs...I'm feeling guilty about it now. That might fade when they get here in the mail, though. :rolleyes1
Thanks for the SWW tip!! :chewy::ewok::darth::yoda:

Hey April . Sorry I am sooooooooo late to the party :sad2:. Your plans look great!! One day I will stay at the Poly, don't know when that day will be, but ONE day........:lmao:.

Oh! my Via Napoli sounds like something Danny would just LOVE!
now, I thought I had my five picked and will have to re-think something...:rotfl:

can't help with the Star Wars info our 2009 trip we were there and tried to be sure to avoid DHS those days as Danny and I are not big fans (seen the first two movies as a little kid) sorry! But, from what I remember Lisa mentioning sounds like a lot of fun if you are a fan.

Sorry, to hear you are starting to feel down...hopefully the sun:sunny: and warmth will start to make its way your way soon. But, wow! on the shoe purchase...

 Connie

That's ok! I started this PTR late, too- AND I even skipped a December TR! I have only stayed at the Poly once before...it was SO quiet- I loved it! This winter is killing me, so I figured that the Poly would be my reward for just getting through this winter. Right now it is a balmy 7 degrees with a windchill of -10! Ugh. :headache: How's Niko, by the way??

:rotfl: I am a SUPERNERD when it comes to Star Wars. I tried to resist, but it just happened somehow. I'm really looking forward to going to SWW.
Doesn't Via Napoli sound good???? I will give a seriously thorough review to let you know how it is.
Thanks for the positive outlook- I can't wait for Spring!!!

Call me crazy, but I added a lunch at Le Chefs de France on my last day. I thought about it & decided I couldn't face my last day with no ADR. Remember how I told you I would change my mind 47 times before I left about renting a car & going to Universal/IOA?? Today I'm thinking I WILL do both of those things. :upsidedow While it is so cold here, I can't help but think about being in WDW. One thing may stand in my way- I have jury duty on April 7th- what if I get chosen & have to sit through a trial???:confused3 The reason I know I have jury duty is because they scheduled it during my December vacation. I postponed it, but you are only allowed to postpone jury duty ONCE. I really hope I don't have to sit through a trial!!! Which brings me to 3 completely unrelated questions for you:

1. If you have ever been chosen for Jury Duty, how long did you serve?

2. Star Wars weekends tips?

3. Has anyone ever encountered bedbugs at a WDW resort?

And just because I love my doggy....

O my goodness!! the 'baby' picture of Isis is beyond adorable!!!

I was once on a jury...The trial I got picked for lasted 2 days. They actually didn't end up seating us until after lunch the first day and then they told us to go home and come back tomorrow. We were all mad, cause they could have started the trail that day at 1pm.....
The second day, the testimony only lasted till lunch, then we deliberated and we were out of there.
If you get picked, chances are it will at least be 2 days, unless you get seated early in the morning and they start the trial right away.
Now that was at a Criminal Court....I once got called to a court in Newburyport that was not a criminal cout, it was a cival court. If I got picked that trail was already scheduled to last at least 2 weeks...cause they were only holding court for that case 3 days a week or something silly like that. I didn't get picked for that one.

Awwwwww, look at itty bitty Isis! So sweet!

Well, I've never been chosen for jury duty. I've received two different Summons but then they won't let me serve because I work so closely with the attorneys and the courthouse staff. One of the things that I have heard that works well to get you dismissed is to ask all sorts of questions. If it is a criminal case, when they question you, state that you are all for punishing those who commit a crime. The defense attorneys will want to throw you out immediately.

Thanks!!! That information definitely helps. I found a website, too that has all sorts of FAQ's. They really are serious about making everyone serve- they practically say that unless you're in a coma, you have to show up. I'm hoping the weather is ok & that my car doesn't break down or something. What I REALLY hope is that when I call the day before, they will say they don't need me. I wish I could go to a Newburyport court...part of why I'm dreading this is that they are sending me to Fitchburg of all places! You know that will mean a criminal case. I guess I shouldn't complain...Springfield would be worse.

My goodness- Isis was a holy terror at that age. She was literally out of control until she was about 3. She still has an attitude- especially when I mention "toenails". I can't cut them for her at all. It takes me, the vet, the vet assistant, and a muzzle.:scared1:
That is a good tip for jury duty!! I'm not sure if working closely with the police & my Dad being a former Corrections officer would make a difference, but I will mention it. This is the third time in about 8 years that I have gotten a jury duty notice. One time, I went in & waited all day. I was a few people from getting chosen, but they got all the jurors they needed before they got to me. The next time (which was a Federal grand jury) I called the day before & they said I didn't have to go. Thanks for the tip!!!

Hi April,
Happy Friday! We went a week without snow :yay:

Thanks!!! I am SO happy that we didn't get snow this week! I think a little may be in the forecast today & tomorrow- but it is supposed to get up to 50 by Friday!!! :woohoo:

Day 4- May 20th: I have nothing planned for the morning. I was thinking of maybe going to Downtown Disney or just hanging by the pool and having a lazy day before EMH at Epcot that night. I have an early dinner scheduled at Via Napoli. I’m dying to try the food here- I could eat pizza 24/7. I love Epcot at night.

I plan to be at EPCOT on this day - maybe we'll run into each other.

1. If you have ever been chosen for Jury Duty, how long did you serve?

It’s different in each jurisdiction. When I was summonsed for jury duty everyone was assigned a juror number. We had to call an answering machine every evening after 4 to see if we had to report to court the next morning. That lasted for 2 months. At the beginning there was a sheet that everyone filled out and you could list days you were unavailable (travel, vacation, medical, etc... the judge excused all of those absences for those time periods but you still had to report all other times)

I had to go in 5 times, 2 times we were all dismissed b/c they settled that morning. The other 3 times we were called to a court room, the judge read about 20 questions, we answered as a group (raise your hand for yes) – if you answered yes they would ask you to elaborate and then either keep you or dismiss you. When it was time to select the jurors from those remaining they just had everyone line up according to number and selected numbers at random – never asked any questions directly. I was never selected to stay - in fact they never got to my number to even pass judgement on me - they always reached the 15 they needed before it was my turn so I was excused every day by 11.

It is a definite possibility! I'm going to try to remember to get some green mickey heads from home depot to pin onto my camera bag with my Disboards user name on them.

Just checkin' in on you. How's the weather? Any more snow? I hate to post this but it's supposed to get to 73 today. I can tell we're in for a hot Summer if our temps are this high in February.
