May at the Poly! Home & catching up on work...TR to come soon!

I think you did a great job with your new camera. They turned out fantastic. I bought a new camera on Sam's Club auctions a couple of days ago. It's a Kodak Easy Share and it only cost $51.00 for the bundle. I figure if I don't like it, I can always pass it along to Hunter.;)

Hi April,
How did you do at Foxwoods? I haven't been there in YEARS....I think the last time was to see a Knight Ranger show... at least 7 years ago because my friend didn't have her kids yet and her oldest is in 1st grade....it was a great show!

We have little to no snow!!! YEAH! If it would warm up past 40, it would be awesome...I hear Thursday will be 60!!

Are all those pets yours? They are really cute....
the pics came out great

Thanks! Foxwoods was fun- we didn't gamble, but we did walk around a bit & order room service. I saw Duran Duran there last year- John fell asleep! It is definitely a fun place! There are SO many great restaurants there now, too. They have really added a ton in the past 7 years. You have to go again- But stay at the MGM Grand. The rooms are so nice.
I still have about a foot of snow in the front yard! I really hope it melts this week.
The cats & the lab (she is 120 pounds!!) are my mom's, but the turtle (there are actually 2, but one is camera shy) and the Dingo (not really, but she does look like one!) are mine. Let me tell you- turtles are A TON of work!!! Someone I work with had them & couldn't keep them, so I took them. Little did I know I needed a huge tank, filters, basking lights, and a dock. The filters have to be cleaned at least once a week or you have a stinky mess. They are a lot more work than I thought! The white cat is OLD, but my parents adopted him this winter. Some lady had him & then just threw him out because he got old. He was starving when my mom got him- he has put on a lot of weight since she has had him.

Thanks! Whoa- you got a great deal on the Kodak Easy Share! I had an early model of an Easy Share from 2002-2007 and I LOVED it! I think you will really like it. Which model is it?

You'd think I'd know the model of the camera I just bought. I think it's an Easy Share 530. My first "real" digital camera was a Kodak and I absolutely loved it. It took great pictures and was easy to operate (an essential for me). I've looked at the reviews, of course, after I had already bought the camera, and I haven't read anything bad about it. Like I said, if I don't like it, I can always give it to Hunter. I couldn't pass it up for the price!

I didn't take the fancy camera with me to Foxwoods, but I have a few photos to share.

It was impossible to get a good nighttime photo because there was nowhere to stop & take it.

I only took one photo in the room:

It is blurry. Sorry, guys- I really dropped the ball as far as taking photos goes.
Here are a few of the lobby:

The following day, John & I went to see "Hall Pass" and we were the only ones laughing in the theater! It is definitely not a movie for people who are easily offended- and I think everyone else in the theater was that type of person. John & I kept looking at each other and asking "How can these people NOT laugh?" After the movie, we went to dinner. It was such a fun day.
As far as my May trip- I don't know if I can do the Wild Africa Trek with my camera. I have to ask & find out. It is coming up SO fast! I'll post more Disney-related stuff soon.
I hope everyone has a great day! :goodvibes

That looks like a GREAT camera! It has lots of great features and it is a 12 megapixel camera! You got a great deal, too- the Kodak website is selling it for 79.99. I don't think you will be giving that one to Hunter! :rotfl: I bet you will love it. All of the different shooting modes are definitely a bonus- plus it shoots video & you can share right to Youtube & Facebook! :thumbsup2

Hi April,
Boo for the snow....I hope it is gone by the end of the weekend..
The MGM grand does look really nice. I will have to head down there.

The poor cat! How awful that people that threw him away cause he was old! My friend is a vet tech, she says that people will come in to put a animal down cause their owner died....at least take the animal to a shelter so it has a chance to find another home. They won't just put a healthy animal down at the place she works...but how awful that people would think it was ok to do that.

My DH had a turtle growing up. Who knew they were so much work...that was really nice of you to give them a new home.

That is terrible that people try to put an animal down because their owner died! You would think they would at least bring them to a shelter.
I'm dreading the snow tomorrow...are they forecasting it for the North Shore, too??

Today I thought I would share some of my photos from my zoom lens. I took a few of the pets & a few of the birds in the yard:

I was caught off guard by a fox running through my yard. I'm so happy I was able to get a few photos. There has been a female fox in my back yard every Spring & she always has at least 3 babies. I can't wait to see them this year! Notice that she was carrying at least two mice in her mouth:

I also took a photo of some photos I took years ago with my film camera:

And my favorite new night light:

That's it for now, but hopefully I will get a lot of photos of the fox in the near future. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

 We got more snow yesterday & will be getting more Wednesday night. I need this winter to end. :headache:

You're more than welcome to hop a plane to Louisiana and visit us. Our temperature is supposed to hit 83 today. It's nice and breezy out which keeps it from feeling too hot. There is a bad side though. The trees and flowers are budding out and all of our cars, bbq grill, porch, etc. are solid yellow from all the pollen.

You know- I really need to switch climates. Louisiana sounds awesome! Everything here is still brown, white, gray, & dead. :sad2:

One good thing happened this weekend, though- Did you see the photo of the fox on the last page?? Can you believe we have another one this year? I can't wait until the babies start to come out & play!

I don't know how I missed the post with the bird, pet and fox pictures! You are getting to be a pro with your camera. I'm so happy that the fox is back this year and, like you, can't wait to see how many babies she has.

We have a pasture and woods that surround our house and I saw a fox about 3 weeks ago. I was coming down our driveway and happened to glance over to my left and saw something sitting just outside the underbrush. I kept driving but my curiosity got the better of me and I backed up to have another look. Sitting right there, looking straight at me was a fox. It sat there for a minute and then turned and ran into the brush. It was then that I realized it was a fox!

I said something to Mama about it a day or two later and she said had seen it too! She was leaving our house one evening after it had already gotten dark and saw something run across our yard. She said it was "yipping" (for lack of a better word) and she thought it was an unusual sound but then didn't think about it any more. After I told her I had seen the fox, we put two and two together and came to the conclusion that it was the fox that run in front of her.

Fantastic pictures! You really have a talent.

I hope we get to see little fox babies soon. We have several turkeys in our neighborhood and several coyotes....surprisingly they seem to co-exist.
I love seeing the little coyotes pups as well as the little turkeys....I'll try to grab some pics, but no guarantees I'll get the shot!! LOL

We GOT snow yesterday! it's gone now, but really snow onthe first full day of spring...and for a couple hours in the afternoon it was (almost) white-out conditions

Thanks! Foxes (Is that the correct plural?) do make the most unusual sounds. Sometimes the little ones sound like birds. That's cool that you guys have a fox living on your property, too! You guys have lots of wildlife on your property, right?
I have SO much to learn with this camera! I want another lens before I go to WDW in May, but I don't know if I can make that happen financially.

Thanks! I don't think I have ever seen a coyote! How big are they? Do you have a lot of them? I love turkeys- they are the most awkward flyers, though!
Can you believe that we will be getting more snow tonight, ALL day tomorrow, and Friday?!?!!? :scared1: It makes me want to get under the covers & sleep until May!!!

So...Guess what???? We are getting an "Earl of Sandwich" on Boston Common!!! See article here...
While I am excited we will have it...ummm...do they have to put it in an old bathroom?!?!?!?

An "earl of sandwich" will be sooo cool! I saw that headline on Boston.com, but I had no idea what the 'pink palace' was so I didn't read it!! LOL We will have to plan a DIS meet there :goodvibes

Coyotes look like really skinny German Shepards...at first you probably think its one...then you kind of realize by the way the animal is looking at you that it is 'wild' for lack of a better term...they are really pretty animals.
My neighbor told me that if you feed a coyote, their 'pack' will actually reject them....my neighbor has done some research on them...I guess the ones in our area got a "gps" tag and they were tracked all the way up to Cananda and back...facinating.

I really am not sure that I can bring myself to order food out of a former bathroom! :rotfl: But a Dis meet is a definite in that location as soon as they open!! I love Boston. I'm going to try to get there more this Spring & Summer. There are an endless amounts of good restaurants there! And don't even get me started on the shopping!!
That is really interesting about the coyotes. I can't believe they travel from MA to Canada! That is really far. And that is really weird that their pack rejects them for eating food from people. I wonder if it is because they didn't share it with the rest of the pack.

We have coyotes in the woods around us too. I've seen them before and, every once in a while, you'll hear them howling/yelping (can't think of a way to describe the sound) just outside the fence line of our property. We've called Wildlife and Fisheries to see if they can come and relocate them (they were cutting timber at the time and I was afraid that the puppies would be killed in the process). They told us that coyotes were a nuisance and that we should just shoot them because that's what they would do if they came out. I couldn't believe it!

It is weird that the Wildlife Service & (at least I find that here in MA) the Environmental Police are so quick to kill animals. They shot a bear here rather than tranquilize it a few years ago. It made a lot of people- including me- VERY upset. I am such a wimp- I can't handle it when any animal dies.

That's awful!! I can believe it though... I called once for a hurt swan that was at the pond across from my mom's condo...they wouldn't come...I'm like the swam is hurt and will die!! NOPE, no help.
