May 9, 2012: 5 Night Bahamas Cruise on Disney Magic

Hi everyone!!! I hope the weather is better when we cruise! I will be so sad if we miss KW & CC! Those are the 2 I am really looking forward to. I still feel like I have a lot to do. My goal this week is to finish my FE gifts and my magnets. I REALLY want to start packing but my dogs will freak out if they see suitcases. I dont want to deal with that for 12 days!

Playing musical hotels here! I still have the reservation in place at Residence Inn ($99), but found an even lower rate ($83) for the Radisson. Since we need to have the car at the port (due to my need to hightail it to Orlando for the conference as soon as we set foot off of the ship), I don't need a park and cruise package. The only drawback is no breakfast included at Radisson. We really aren't big breakfast people though, so I'm thinking we may just go with Radisson. What to do, what to do!

Finished my FE. I made it all myself, without sewing. It isn't perfect but I really like it.

Looks great!! Are those iron on transfers on the pockets? That worked perfectly!

Hi everybody!!!
Just to tell you that it's only SIX days to start my trip!!! On Friday I take off to Naples two days and later 9 days to WDW!!!! until our Dream Cruise I'm looking forward to meeting you!!!
I'm soooo excited!!!!
Just hearing that you're going to Naples is enough to make me jealous, then to WDW. :hyper: Have fun!!!

Can you get breakfast for $16.00 or less? If not then I'd stay at the Residence Inn just for the convenience of having the breakfast right there. One less thing to worry about. Otherwise you have to get ready, pack then drive somewhere to pick up at least a small bite to eat before you head to the ship. Having said that we have stayed at hotels that offer breakfast, and they are so crowded that we've gone somewhere else to eat anyway. :rotfl:

LOVE the FE!!! I think I'm going to use those iron on's for t-shirts.... did they do ok? Did you get them from Millipie on 4Shared??

As for hotel.... the difference would be breakfast, no? I personally would like to have the option of breakfast but if you don't.... save the cash for a drink on board ;)

I am glad I am not the only one who hasn't finished the FE gifts yet! I have to do it when DS is at school or asleep (along with a few other things with those same rules) and now that I am past procrastinating I am having a hard time getting it done. I bought cute cellophane bags and stuff's not fitting, so you guys get Ziplocs! At least you'll be able to use them for other things if you want? :rolleyes1

Could you pick up a pack of muffins and a few bananas to keep in the room or something? We've done that before when we had an early morning or didn't want to wait in line for a big breakfast. That said, it looks like the Magic is the only ship in port that day so maybe it won't be too crowded? I think at $16 there probably isn't a bad choice. :)

I couldn't see the FE yesterday but it's working now - SO CUTE!

I am also jealous about Naples - haven't ever been there. We're doing a beach day pre-cruise and then 4 days with the in laws in Sarasota after the cruise, so I guess I can't be TOO jealous :)

Ok, sticking with Residence Inn. We always love staying at RI's, plus the convenience factor for breakfast is a plus (while not big breakfast eaters, I'm certain we will grab a bite of something). Plus having a nice, little kitchen is a huge plus as well! I tend to overthink everything!!!

We leave in two weeks!

I forgot to add, Residence Inn also has a manager's reception on Tuesday night...snacks and drinks. Nice touch at RI with those on weekdays.

I totally agree w/ the other posters re: the shoe hanger sitch. I brought ours last time and never used it either.

RE: Ironing - if you hang your stuff in the bathroom when you take showers, the kinks generally will steam themselves out.

I guess I should start making our packing list too ...

I hope the weather is good for my flight too. We were going to drive but I just can't deal with 15 hours in the car so I booked our flight for the morning of the 9th, which makes me nervous :scared1: I have lots of travel insurance but still. If all goes at planned we will be arriving at MCO at 8:55. NOw, should I rent a car or take Disney transportation??

Ugh, these last little details drive me crazy (er)

My stuff is in Ziplocs too. So you're not the only one ;)

I still can't see it. I guess I'll see it on the ship!

I am SO BORED at work today. I really need a vacation. Is it time to go yet???

Does anyone know if the safes are big enough to fit 2 Ipads? I tried to search for it. Can't find anything. Thanks.

The safes on the Magic are roughly 14" wide by 9" deep, and are about 6 1/2" high. I think there would be no problem height wise...I'm not sure how big an iPad is though as far as length by width.

I would strongly recommend your looking at a car service esp if you have more than 2 in your party. It will be cheaper than taking the Disney shuttle plus you won't have to wait for everyone to load/unload. With that said, you will likely pay a little more than a rental, but then you don't have to worry about paying for parking, taking a shuttle from wherever you're parking to the port. Unless I'm staying overnight at a hotel before/after the cruise, I would always go with a car service.

. The safes were able to hold our laptop which is twice the thickness of the iPad and larger in width/length, so you should be just fine.

Hello Cindy,

There is a Mcdonald's right across the street from the Radisson. You can walk to it. We've had breakfast there a few times. Ugh:scared1: It sure makes you look forward to getting on board :yay:for that first delicious meal!! We've also stayed at the Residence Inn. Can't go wrong with either one! Only a few more days!!:cheer2:

Yes, they are iron ons & they worked great, very easy. I did use Millipie's p4shared graphics.

Phew I am just about done making my FE gifts! I realized I am short 1 "thing" so I need to go to the store so I can finish that 1 gift. I also need to pick up stuff for the teenage group.... buying, not making those ;) EEEEK I leave in 10 days!!!!!!! :cheer2:

:thumbsup2 AWESOME!!!!!

Today's the day everyone gets off the ship from the first of our itinerary.... should be some interesting trip reports.... I hope!

I agree with Annabel I'd go with the car service or rental before I'd do DCL. We rented a car from budget at $68 because I want to shop before the crusie and after. Brian is going to drop off the car at the budget in Port Canaveral then we'll pick it back up after the crusie. The trip back to Orlando is only 48$ since we're taking the car back for them I'm guessing. With a 14 y/o we have to hit Ron Jons!:) Plus I love the Character Warehouse in the outlet mall in Orlando.
Now all that's left to do is pack up everyone. :woohoo:
