May 9, 2012: 5 Night Bahamas Cruise on Disney Magic

For the FB pictures link, when you go to your album of the pictures, at the bottom under all of the thumbnails will be a public link. That's the one you want to copy and paste here.

You know, we used to love booking excursions but have gotten to the point where we would rather just relax and go at our own pace. I think that was the best thing about renting the convertible in Key West. We did what we wanted on our own terms.

(And don't worry about being banned...we skipped ALL of the shows.

They didn't! OMG! Crazy!

Oh good...another banned person! ;)

That is one thing I am looking forward to on the Dream...the fireworks. I'm curious to see how Pirate Night works on the Dream.

OMG! She so did not do that with her dress! You guys really had good entertainment for brunch it sounds like. LOL

I so wanted to see Magic Quest, but we missed it. *sigh* One of these days. RCI's Quest gets pretty raunchy...it would be interesting to see how Disney's version compares.

Now, time for me to plan for Mom's visit next week! We just got home after my conference (my presentation went GREAT!). Need to do laundry and get this place squared away stat!

Cindy this is the link at the bottom of the album page. One was to e-mail the album and this link was under that.

Just looked through the pics...
WHEN WAS THAT WATER SPOUT??!! that's crazy!!

I feel like everyone did so much more then we did and we didn't by any means relax!!!

Just looked through the pics...
WHEN WAS THAT WATER SPOUT??!! that's crazy!!
It was on the at sea day. I walked out on the veranda and there is was off in the distance. I quickly grabbed my camera and took some pics. I couldn't believe it! That was crazy!! The ship that's over there goes right in front of it so it's farther out then that. It was there for at least 5-10 min. Do you remember on our at sea day around 1pm when it almost looked like it was going to rain and then just sprinkled? That was the storm that it was in.

The first 2 days when we went into port then dinner and the show, I felt like all my time was taken up and I wasn't enjoying the ship. That's why we stopped going to the shows and did the millions of other things that were available. Once we made that decision is when I really started having fun, but that's just us. I will say that on day 3 Cole was getting wise to the fact that we were leaving him in his club till midnight and he put a stop to that. LOL

That's weird!!

From your pics we were on the same side. I remember that storm b/c my mom and I were in the room and the kids, DH, and my dad were at the pool. I remember thinking its raining...pool should be fun... but never saw that! That's a cool pic.

Oh, I did forget to mention...we got our passports stamped (again!) in Nassau. The guy who stamped them was so thrilled we came in for such, and even more happy when he found out I have been to Nassau umpteen times!

I "tried" to get ours stamped but had no idea WHERE to get it done :( As I was getting off the ship I asked the guy where to get it done and he said I couldn't then another girl told me to go to immigration. I couldn't find it. Oh well :( We never plan to get off the ship in the Bahamas again. Maybe if we cruise that way again I will try to get guest services to do it.

We saw all of the shows. Villains was my favorite. :thumbsup2

One of my highlights was the Avengers. Great movie and with the 3D and the movement of the ship it made it come to life. :thumbsup2

Yes! It was Jen!! Sorry!

Where were you guys sitting??

I guess we missed all the excitement at Palo. I'll have to ask my husband if he saw anything. We were at the 2 person table right behind the dessert table. Many times I was tempted to just turn around and grab another dessert!

I really wanted to get our passports stamped in the Bahamas, but I had no idea where to do it. Now that I know I have no real desire to go back, I wish I would have tried to find where to do it. Oh well :confused3

Now, that is just weird! If I am not signed into Facebook, it allows me to see the thumbnails page of the album. If I try to click on a particular picture (the water spout shots!), it says I have to log in. When I log in (or if I am logged in while trying to use the link) it says I do not have permission to access. Sometimes Facebook makes me want to rip my hair out!!!

I will look at the thumbnails when I get home. Can't wait to see those water spout photos!

We have finally gotten to the point when we cruise we just go at our own pace. If we try to do it all (especially the shows), forget it! Total madness!

I "tried" to get ours stamped but had no idea WHERE to get it done :( As I was getting off the ship I asked the guy where to get it done and he said I couldn't then another girl told me to go to immigration. Oh, I am so bummed you guys could not find anyone who could help you locate the building. It is located right next door to the Festival Marketplace (the building you exit and enter the pier from). Instead of going with the mass herds to the right when you exit the building, it's just to the left behind a chain link fence with a guard standing by. The folks there couldn't be more pleasant (they always are when we go over), and they love having short conversations especially with the kiddos (my then-11-year-old niece chatted up one guy for several minutes last year). If you ever go back to Nassau, consider getting off the ship just to get the passport stamps. It would take just a few minutes time (my mom actually did so once...she hopped off the ship, walked over for her passport stamp, then hopped back on the ship).

We didn't have Sasha but he was SO funny!! At brunch on our at sea day there were 2 girls posing outside the Palo windows, and I mean they were really posing..... sexy!! I'm not sure if they realized they were in front of a restaurant. Who knows, they probably did. LOL Anyway Sasha decided he was going to help them out, so he went out there and took their camera and then directed them on how to stand so as to get the perfect sexy shot. It was hilarious!

Loved your pictures and I swear we both were taking the same exact pictures just on different decks. Did you just copy and paste the link from your FB account? I could post my pics as well. I'm giving this a shot. Here's some of the photos I took. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.3666725080532.149090.1646941990&type=3

I'm with you on the cruise being to short and this was our first cruise. Our next cruise will definitely be 7 nights. I was glad that I didn't book any excursions other than CC stingray, and we'll probably skip feeding the stingrays next time. It was nice not to have to stick to someone else's schedule. We loved the adult area, and spent a lot of our evenings there. I'll probably be banned from this site if I admit that we only saw Villains and then skipped all the rest. I just felt that I'll see them on the next cruise and I wanted to go and do so many other things.

We saw Twice Charmed and Dreams. Those are our can't miss shows. We skipped the others.

We got ours stamped, I was determined to get it done. Once we made our way to the other side of the market place I saw the guard and guard shack that Cindy talked about. I had to push past all the guys trying to drive me somewhere or take us on a horse ride to reach the gate. I told the guard I wanted my passport stamped and he let us through the gate and into the building. It was something I was excited about doing, but honestly the kids were like.... boring! Kids!

We are debating on whether or not to book a 4-day on the Dream in October a part of our Disney trip. I just don't know how much I want to sail on such a huge ship. We have already decided that if we go, we are staying on the ship on Castaway day to have the pools to ourselves! We just love to cruise!

DD loves staying on the clubs until midnight! It was open until 1 AM one night and she wanted to stay. We were tired and got her "early" seeing as we were in bed between 12 and 1 every night. We had late dining, she would go to the clubs and we would go to Sessions. We did see Alfred and Seymore when they were there. We have seen them 3 or 4 times now. They were on the Wonder in October when we were there. You have to get to those shows early if you want a seat.

We used to always sail with an inside cabin (we like the sideways cabins), but then DD came along and we started getting the verandah so we could sit out while she was napping. We sailed in an inside in 2010 and we hated it. We decided that we would always have a verandah since then. But, that being said, if we did a 3-day, I may consider an inside, but I don't know the price difference. It is nice to sit out there, if there is some shade, and read or have a drink and have my own personal view. I burn very easily and I love to be outside, so if it is shady, I can do both.

Why do I seem to have more time now to be on this thread than before the cruise?

Ok, I'm finished looking at your pictures, Terri and Jen. Awesome!!! *sigh* I so wish we were back on the ship and in the waters of the Caribbean.

I'm all the way to the end of Key West day on my trip report on another fan forum. If anyone is interested in a link just send me a PM and I'll send it to ya.

:thumbsup2

Hi everyone! Wow what a GREAT vacation!!! I absolutely loved the cruise! I will admit that there were 3 times at the end of the cruise that I had to fight the tears. 2 years of saving, planning, and dreaming and it was over, but it was all I hoped it would be. Just magical! I loved watching my kids faces as experienced everything! Loved shows.. but skipped Villians. My twins didnt make it through the Avengers  Darn Hawk had to turn green and freak them out. My DH stayed and I left with the kids. LOVED CC!! Key West was nice... not a must go back to but nice. The Sheraton on Cable Beach was really nice. No complaints there. I also wish there were some more adult activities. I also agree with CIndy that Margarita Tasting should've been more margaritas and less tequila. Im just not a shot person.. but oh well... it was $15 and we had fun sitting with Luz and her DH :) We booked a dummy cruise and plan on sailing Fantasy May 2014. Oh I hope their is a southern car. itinerary! That is my FAVORITE! I took just over 1800 pics on this trip  Here is my Magic album on FB..

Thanks again for all the fun FE gifts! My kids loved everything! That was such a fun exchange to participate in! Thank you Cindy for coordinating it :)

Who's still on the cruise high? I think I still am. I'm still stuck with a major case of the eff-it's. And we did the unthinkable which I'm also feeling like I've totally stepped out on Mickey....

...on the way home from the cruise I had to book our staterooms on RCI's Allure of the Seas for Thanksgiving 2013. All of Tracey's family are booking so it's a family thing. THEN, yesterday we were making our final call on Disneyland in November because of the price increase that took place today. Not one of us felt like doing a park trip, not even in California. And we've never been to California. LOL! We weren't overly thrilled with the ports of call on the Galveston itineraries (because we LIKE the thought of not really traveling to the port) They're all the same as our Western Fantasy booked for next May. Well, with the exception of the Christmas cruise out of Galveston. 8 days and they stop in Key West. They don't leave Key West until 11:30 at night! Hellooooo...Sunset Festival! But, I'm not spending $9k to do it. :scared1: Alternatives! We booked RCI's Mariner of the Seas for 12/2 going to Roatan (Honduras), Belize City, and Cozumel. I'm so excited! Spending a thousand or 2 or 3 less than Disneyland would've cost. And now I have to learn all about how RCI works. :teacher:

Maybe someone should take away my credit card so I won't book anymore.... :lmao:

Kelly go to cruisecritic.com and look for a cruise meet there :thumbsup2 I love RC. They are a great cruise line! I am totally still on a cruise high! I wish I was still on the ship! I do have my new adorable puppy though so she makes be home a little better. She is awesome!

You guys must read Kelly's TR! The pictures are incredible as well!

Christina, I am soooooo glad you guys enjoyed Disney cruising!

The link is not allowing me to view your pics. I even tried logging out of FB but still received the not allowed to access message. *sigh*

LOL! I have two cruises coming up...the one in October this year on the Dream, and our Fantasy cruise, if I could just nail down a date. Either April 20, 2013 or one in Oct 2013. I much prefer April and the call on San Juan. We were not planning on cruising again until at least summer 2013, so not sure what we will do (we really want that itinerary in April though!). What we had originally booked onboard was the 4-night Dream sailing Sept 8, 2013, but I know we won't keep that. 30 minutes after booking we were like, "WTH! We want a 7-nighter on the Fantasy!"

Enjoy RCI! If I can't sail Disney, Royal Caribbean is my next choice!

Thanks, Cindy! I was so excited you found my report. It's kinda difficult sometimes crossing over from there to here but this forum is so much larger the cruise boards lend a lot more info & buddies to feed the addiction. But, you know, there is where I first found a "home" and a handful of us are really what got the TR section rolling so strong. So I stick with it. I know not to advertise or link one forum to the other so I don't go nuts pushing my presence there when here or vice versa. All those little nuances and etiquette things...I try to do good by both sites & the folks who've worked so hard to create & maintain each. :)

I wish you were going on the Sept 8, 2013 Dream 4-day!!! I'll be on that cruise! That's the sailing me, Tammy (disneyfalcon), and Holly (hollybelle) are hosting our big girls-only getaway cruise from that other site. It's a cheap way for a lot of ladies to give cruising a try while having a little escape from home. I think we currently have just over 20 gals in like 9 staterooms. Talk about fun! We're gonna have a ball! Wish you and all my new girls from here could come join the fun. You know me, more is better! :goodvibes

And, Cindy, definitely will be in touch with some RCI questions. It's amazing how different the lines operate! Chandler & I are off to Houston for the day so I'll get with ya in the next few days. I hear lots of good stuff about RCI from DCL fans so I'm not really afraid to book them. It's also nice to be on Cruise Critic after booking & discover your ship just came out of drydock this month. :thumbsup2

For giggles I priced a Carnival Cruise and I swear Steve thought I was lying when I told him how much cheaper it was than Disney :lmao: I may look in to some of the other cruise lines. Anyone know if they have kids clubs and how they are?

I briefly looked at Cruise critic. I may have to look some more. :scratchin
