May 9, 2012: 5 Night Bahamas Cruise on Disney Magic

We leave in less then 48 hours... JUST now doing laundry!

Leah and I are driving into D.C. to meet Ree Drummond, the Pioneer Woman, today at a book signing. She is my all time fav. cook!! I have made almost all of her recipes and we haven't found one yet we don't like!
John's flying tomorrow so I can get the packing done with one less person in my way and then off we go tomorrow night!

By the way, the iron on pirate shirts came out AWESOME!!!

I hope she stays well. The "not panicking" part is hard! I'm resisting the urge to ask Ryan every 5 minutes "Does your throat hurt?". Phil has strep now too, so now we both have it. He started his antibiotics yesterday. We both only have slight sore throats now, so we'll be fine for the cruise. But I'm trying not to freak out over Ryan. I keep telling myself that he was probably the carrier and we got it from him :lmao: I'm still toying with the idea of calling the pediatrician's office to get a prescription just to have on hand just in case. I wonder if they would do that...
Usually the pediatrician's office will call one in if there is a family member with strep. I would get it now, but I am paranoid like that :lmao:

I like Pioneer Woman too. Have fun!

I tried and they said they would if they had seen a sibling. But it's just Ryan and my husband and I see a different doctor. But she told me the incubation period is 2-5 days if he's going to get it. I started being contagious on Monday and my husband was either Wednesday or yesterday. So I guess we'll know by Tuesday, at the latest, if he's going to get it or not. Fingers crossed for NOT!

I still feel like I have so much to do. I have the fish extenders gifts done. I have started packing and have most things packed for the cruise still have to pack for the second part of my trip (camping at the Fort Wilderness.)

Me and hubby went to a concert Wednesday and the bass player of my favorite band pointed to me and motioned that he liked my shirt, I had the bands shirt on. Awesome. We did not get home until 2:30am Thursday morning and I feel like I am playing catch up. Awesome show and I was in the front row of the GA pit.

Hubby got called into court today even though he was suppose to be on vacation. Grrr. He did not even have a subpoena for the case. It makes me so mad that they dropped it on him last minute. (PS he is a local police officer for our city).

Still have to finish cleaning my house. I do not like coming home to a dirty house. I have already started two loads of cloths today and did some dishes, swept and vaccumed. Now I got to finish dusting and mop and clean the bathrooms. Along with finish packing. :scared1:

Sunday afternoon I am having my friend and her two kids over for some video games and pizza. They are also my god children. Looking forward to that. She is being such a dear and sweet friend and watching my fur baby for two weeks.

Also I have a questioned about checked luggage. How often does it get lost? We are driving in and will not being using an airport. Is my stuff safe and will it make it to my room. I was planning on on carryon's but realized I had to much stuff. Now it looks like two checked suit cases and one carry on. One of my bags upon measuring it was 1/2" to big according to regulations. instead of 22" it was 22 1/2". :( I would of much preferred two carry on and one or none checked luggage.

How often does luggage get lost on an airline? In my personal experience it has happened when we have had a tight connection or missed a flight and had to take another one. In those instances it has come in on the next flight. One time I was travelling at Christmas time and they were having an issue on weight. They even pulled a person or two to wait to take the next flight (it was a small plane) and several people including me had luggage that didn't make it, but again it came in on the next flight. So those are my personal experiences.

Yes I was talking about the cruise ship losing luggage though because we are driving no airplane.

OMG! This packing stuff is for the birds! I had to scratch the book signing and now have to run to Crazy 8. Neither of the boys have kaki pants.
Leah has WAAYY to much stuff and the boys don't have enough! :(

Can I just snap my fingers and be there already?

I have lots to reply to but no time to do it!

I hope all the sick folks get well soon, and that we all get packed and to the cruise without incident!

I am trying to finish up my magnets and am having a terrible time with the stateroom ears! Can anybody tell me, when you print it 'full size' what size paper it ends up on? Depending on what I open it with, it is cropping the edges on both 8x10 and 8.5x11, but when I cut it out and measure it, both look too big. Argh.

Brittany I hope you have a safe drive! Are your iron ons from MissMorgan?? I got 1 from her and it is awesome!

Tiffany I printed out "ears" but I dont know if they are correct since it is our 1st time. Hopefully one of our seasoned cruise friends can help you out.

Ok my DH is going to have a hissy fit when he gets home! He just doesnt get packing and thinks I should be able to pack us all in 3 suitcases (kids sharing) :scared1: Um we have 5 :rolleyes1 Not too bad though right??? 1 of my friends is sailing the Fantasy tomorrow and they have 8 yes 8 for their family of 4. Im SOOO happy that I shipped my FE gifts... or I would have 6 LOL

5 suitcases....I'm impressed. For my family of 4 I have 3 large suitcases and 3 carry on small suitcases. my husband is going to have a bird. Not to mention we have carseats too!

But its a good day...out of work starting today for 2 weeks. Let my vacation begin.; )

Ya I dont think it is bad at all! When he came home he didnt say anything.. good thing for him cuz I was ready for him :rotfl:

I got all my bags packed. All I have to do is make sure to add my glasses and contacts to my toiletry bag and make sure we have our cell phones. Got extras of the rest of the things. I wound up with two checked bags and two carry on for the cruise. One small bag for pre-cruise and one large suitcase for after the trip. Also a tent a, mattress, a tarp, two fold up chairs and hammer for after the cruise. I feel like I have been packing for a week. I already have some things in my car like the tent so all I have to throw in the car is four bags Sunday. Is Disney Cruise Lines bad about losing luggage. I have never had to check luggage before? What time do the deliver them to the room and what time do you have to leave your luggage the last day of cruise. I know it is the night before but is it 10:30 or 11:30pm?

I can breath again. I have done all my housework that I need to do before the trip except dust, a few dishes and a load of laundry.

Oh and did I mention that one of the checked luggage just contains my FE stuff :cool1:

It takes us almost exactly 10 hours to get to Alpharetta.. and that includes stopping some. Good thing is we are in no rush!

Love it when we don't have to rush, and can just make an overnight stop somewhere. Always seems to make the drive much easier. Safe travels!

I'm making a list of things I need to remember to do at Guest Services when we board. So far I have,

1) Sign up for tastings
2) Drop off pictures to be signed along with the candy and Sharpies
3) add mom and dad to our cabana (didn't want to risk it online)
4) Add gift cards to our account (if there are any left after WDW - ha!)

I have got to be missing something. What am I missing???

Oh, and an update on my illness - I have strep! :scared1: I went yesterday, so I should be totally fine by the time we leave Sunday morning. I don't feel sick anymore, it's just the sore throat. My hubby woke up with a sore throat this morning too, so he's got a call into the doc for some antibiotics for himself. Just need to keep the little guy well! His birthday party is Saturday. Please, oh please...

Oh no! Feel better soon! And will say a prayer your little guy stays well! Happy Birthday to him!

You list looks good. I have a list too...just need to find it. :roll eyes:

Thanks for the good luck but I blew it already and it's only 2:06! :lmao: Everyone was talking about the VB bags and I knew the store downtown marks down their discontinued patters 50%. Well, once you get me in the store I'm going to end up buying something. They didn't have any hipsters on sale, but they did have a backpack in a cute pattern. I picked it up for 44$, and Maya can use it for school after we get back.

I think I'm just going to have the kids use their pillow cases, and we'll get the photo matt signed.

Love the idea of not getting the pillow cases signed...they are way cute! (I was going to suggest if you did get it signed, to have it signed by one character only so as not to take away from the work on them!).

Too funny about your shopping. I am the same way. Have avoided stores the past three days at all costs!

I ahve Palo at the at see day and it is the 10:30am slot. So will not make the second greet but should be able to make the first one.

Yea! Looking forward to seeing you at the meet. (And if you don't have anything else going on around 12:30 or 1:00 on Friday, meet us in Diversions...hopefully some of us will regroup there.)

I am staying at the music the 7th and check out the 8th. Spending a half day in the park on the 8th and full day on the 7th and then check in to the Fort Wilderness campsites for 6 nights and 7 days.

That sounds like an awesome getaway!

I am at work and can't stop thinking about all the things I need to do before we leave. Just booked a hotel the night before our flight in NY. Our flight is at 6:45am and no one in my family is a morning person by any means. So the less things I have to do and later we can all sleep the better!
I just hate getting there late in the day! We are arriving in Florida the day before our cruise and I want to enjoy the resort for a bit!
So exciting! I can't believe we are almost there!

Also, is anyone else going without passports? They told me I would just need copies of birth certificates for kids and birth certificate and license for DH and I.

We are driving down to the port the night before, even though it's only a 2 1/2 hour drive from the house. I would just much rather be up and ready to get on the ship in the morning.

Birth certificates are fine. (Just be sure they are certified copies.) I have sailed a few times with just a BC and ID (drivers license) with no issues. :good vibes

I got the camera bag in green. It is a really nice size. Oh and my other bag was too girly for my DH to carry too... ya and this 1 Im sure he wont touch :rotfl: It will be nice to carry around. I love the backpacks. I would like to get 1 someday. They are just expensive... and I havent NEEDED 1 to pay the price. Enjoy the pedi!

:rotfl: I love it when I have something girly with me that DH has to hold even for a few seconds. He never minds, but he is 6'7" and already stands out without holding some girly thing on top of it!

Ditto that! Our flight is out of St Louis at 6:35am. I have booked a park-n-fly hotel so we can just be shuttled to our terminal. We're going to head out Tuesday late afternoon, have dinner and try to go to bed EARLY. I want to be ready to go go go when I hit the boat, not take a nap :faint:

I hear you! No time for the faint of heart once we step on the ship!!!

I just got delivery confirmation that my FE gifts made it! Now they just need to make it to my room!

:cool1: One less thing to worry about!

A list for Guest Services is a good idea!!!

I just have frames to be signed and tastings....I think. I don't know how crazy an alcohol tasting would be after a Palo Brunch at 11:30?

Depends on how much champagne you plan on consuming during brunch. ;) I would still book one, although it really depends on how you think you would feel. Which one are you planning on?

And jury duty is OVER! :cheer2:
And my dad isn't working tomorrow and said he won't go in even if he gets called in! :dance3: So I'll try to go run errands -- though he has watched the girls several times this week for me! But as long as I don't get distracted and lost in Wal-Mart this time , I can probably be faster without the girls. My parents may be glad to get a break from us for a week!! :o

Yeah! Whew! Good to know your duty is over and you can focus on important things, like the cruise!

I got a pedicure with 2 friends tonight. It was great! We brought Sangria, wine, cheese & crackers. So fun! I love getting my feet rubbed. So relaxing after all the running around.

That sounds like a wonderful way to spend an evening!!!

Good vibes going out to everyone! My dd has been exposed to the Flu type B, someone at dance has it. I am watching her like a hawk for any symptoms, I will get her to the dr. ASAP to get her on tamiflu if she does. Trying not to panic about it.

Oh no! Prayers her body steers clear of any bug!

I hope she stays well. The "not panicking" part is hard! I'm resisting the urge to ask Ryan every 5 minutes "Does your throat hurt?". Phil has strep now too, so now we both have it. So glad to hear jury duty is over!

We're closing on a re-finance this afternoon, then Ryan and I have haircut appointments, and THEN I can pack. Our flight leaves at 7:55am Sunday morning! Hot and humid Florida, here we come! :cool1:

Oh dear! Feel better prayers for both of you; and praying it continues to stay away from the little one!

Not sure how central Florida has been, but Jacksonville has definitely been hot and humid the last couple of days. I am actually looking forward to the 80 degree forecast for Key West!

Im going on vacation tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!! Time to finish up here

:woohoo:

We leave in less then 48 hours... JUST now doing laundry!

By the way, the iron on pirate shirts came out AWESOME!!!

:yay:

I have been on four Disney cruises (over ten cruises total) and have not yet had an issue with luggage not arriving at the stateroom. That's not to say it doesn't happen, but in our case it's not the norm to be missing bags. (Now just watch - we won't get our luggage on this cruise! :lmao: )

OMG! This packing stuff is for the birds! I had to scratch the book signing and now have to run to Crazy 8. Neither of the boys have kaki pants.
Leah has WAAYY to much stuff and the boys don't have enough! :(

Can I just snap my fingers and be there already?

I'm with you on that. My packing has not recommenced since the shoes were packed. I'm going to be stressed all weekend!

Argh.

Did you have any luck with the magnets? I have two extra sheets of magnet paper if you want me to print the ears out for you. Just let me know which ones.

I hate to admit this, but with just two of us traveling, we often have at least four bags. :rolleyes1 And that is typically for a 2 or 3 night getaway. :roll eyes:

But its a good day...out of work starting today for 2 weeks. Let my vacation begin.; )

Yea!!! Love it when vacations begin!

So one of my BFFs has been trying to get a group of girls together for over a year to do a girls weekend getaway (I keep telling them I can go wherever, whenever). Yesterday she got fed up with it, and finally just made plans for the first weekend in October. She and I are booked to sail the Dream! :dance3:

I got my iron ons from Milliepie on here. I just printed them on transfer paper and ironed them to the shirt! LOOKS GREAT!

Tiff- if you use millipie's 4Shared site, just download and then print. My stateroom magnets printed on 8.5x11, like a regular piece of paper.

So far, for our family of 5, we have 5 bags and a book bag. 1 for me, 1 for john, 1 for all 3 kids, a shoe bag, a bag of "stuff" (carry on) and then book bag for alcohol/drinks (Captian Handle, a few bottles of wine) I think we might ask my parents to bring a rolling bag for beer/bottled water.

See ya all on the ship!!!:cheer2: We leave for the Polynesian in the morning!

Everyone have a safe trip and stay well!!:worship:

A quick update from the first leg of our B2B on the Magic. We are at Pier B so no need for shuttle - just walk into town from the ship. Weather hot and dry.

Movies - John Carter, Muppets, Cars 2, Chimpanzee and Avengers will starting showing Monday.

Shows - All Aboard, Villians Tonight, Twice Charmed, Movie Night/Pirate Night, Disney Dreams.
