May 9, 2012: 5 Night Bahamas Cruise on Disney Magic

My family and I will be on this cruise as well. My husband and I have 2 boys ages 5 and 3 1/2. Can't believe we are almost there! We are all so excited!
This is our first cruise ever and I just found out about the fish extenders. :(
Wish I knew in advance to participate. Does anyone know where to go and how to get involved in that??

Welcome to the board! We have a 5 year old boy too. Cindy organized all the FE stuff. I think it's pretty much closed now though :( There may be some folks with some "extras", but I don't know. This is our first cruise and our first FE. So we're learning :)

Hi! Welcome aboard! While the FE is officially closed, I can add your family to the list for anyone who has extra goodies to drop off to you (I have extras!). Since you need 10 posts to PM me your info, you can email it to me at iloverags2@aol.com. I will send you the list as well.

I was so busy today getting things ready. I have to be packed up by Friday because our weekend is packed! My dd has a dance competition all weekend and then Monday we have orientation for middle school next year. We leave right after that is over. I still need to get my dh's bottle of crown, can't forget that! :lmao:

Jen, I emailed you info. Let me know if you need it here as well. :)

Oh my! You will be going non-stop right up until the last minute. We are a busy bunch here!

One week and we will be heading to the port!

Welcome :yay::yay:
I also have a 5 year old boy, and I also have extras for the FE. If not I can always come up with something cute. There's a Disney store in our outlet mall, and I'm always looking for a reason to have to go there. You would need to make some kind of FE to hang outside your cabin door to hold all the goodies. Then you'll need to have a goodie to hand out to the other cabins participating in the FE. There's a great thread out here that explains how the FE exchange works. With our cruise right around the corner it might be a lot to do, so just let us know what you decide.

Cindy you just reminded me that I need to do my magnets too!!!:scared1: It was one of the first things I started working on in January and it's still not done!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who hasn't finished these! Like you, they were started months ago. Last night I blurted out, "OMG! The door magnets!" :rotfl:

Welcome, Mom of 2 boyz! (Hey, what happened to the Welcome emoticon??)

Oh, those blasted emoticons on the right side! It took me forever to figure out they randomly rearrange themselves all the time. And I so loathe using the "more" link since there are sooooooooo many of them and I do not have the patience to scroll through them all. ;)

I just finished my Fe and got them all bagged up phew. Now just find a way to pack all I need.

Yea! (I'm still working on the last of my bags...most are done though). Um, yeah...packing. So not sure how I am going to handle all of that! :rolleyes1

I will be leaving work exactly one week from this moment!!! This is going to be one very loooooooong week!

I love your pirate shirt - how cute is that?!? Hope we see you on Pirate Night!

Ok, if I must (and you twist my arm) I'll suffer with whatever libations you cannot have. ;)

No worries on the jeans. Several folks do wear them, including my own family. I hate the thought of having to buy clothes that will just hang in the closet. As mentioned before, we are super laid back and casual people. I do have a dress or two to wear, but for the most part I prefer to be comfortable!

Thanks! And I'm glad to hear there will be other jeans wearers out there. I think we requested the same dining rotation too, so DH will not be the only one in jeans!

Tiffany I was at JoAnn fabrics and in the button section they have one of those elastic bands with the clips on each end that you could use for the back of your shirt. I was super cheap I think 3$.

I'm glad your husband is wearing nice jeans I'll be sure and tell Brian he can pack a pair too. That should make him happy after this mornings clothes melt down. :lmao:

Sweet, thank you! I will definitely have to go look at that when I make my last minute trip into town this week. And you tell your Brian that my Brian says jeans are fine! ;)

:welcome: So glad to have you! I have a son who is almost 5 as well. And I think I have enough for some kind of extras too, though it might not be exactly like the others :). If you don't have time to make a whole FE, just hang a tote bag out there - I have seen trip reports and things with those. You can get iron-ons at fabric/craft stores (I have seen them at Jo-Ann's for sure) if you want to spiff it up a little. Just make sure to use a zip-tie to secure it to the fish clip so it doesn't run off.

Do you have any other questions we can help you with? I'm a first time cruiser too but the experts here have been a huge help, and as the last few days pass we're all around a lot! :)

We also have a meet-up planned so we can all meet each other at 3pm in the Promenade Lounge on embarkation day so come do that if nothing else!

OMG! I forgot I need to print magnets yet. :scared1::eek: Where is time going??? Ack!!!

My plan was to print them as photos and just add magnets. I picked up the prints yesterday and even though I double checked the previews for all of them, at least half are cut off! :( I am going to see if I can tweak them today somehow. The stateroom ears are giving me trouble though and my printer did a bad job with the color. Maybe I'll do Steamboat - I think that one's black and white!

Oh my gosh, so busy!

Yesterday I finally asked my neighbors to watch my pets while we are gone. I can't seem to catch them home, and then in the evenings my boys make my life hectic and I keep forgetting. Lucky for me, they are AWESOME and said 'of course'! I was going to bring them a bottle of rum but apparently they don't drink rum, so I am on the hunt for an inappropriate t-shirt for the DH. I bet Key West has some!

I am airing out our new suitcases, working on magnets and trying to resolve an issue with one of DS's prescriptions today, plus hopefully sorting through DS's clothes for what is too small so I can pack. :faint:

That's what I did - print them as photos and add magnets. I too had cropping problems. I had a big argument with the Shutterfly people (who I normally love). I created my prints as 4x6 in a photo editing program. I made sure everything fit, then they show up cropped :furious: It was really annoying. So then I started making sure all the text was a decent amount away from the edges. I still say it's them though - Costco printed better, but still cropped a little. Too weird!

Well, I think I've done all the "planning" I need to do. Now I just need to do some packing. I'm running out of time :hourglass:

Can you guys send some pixie dust my way :wizard: I feel a cold coming on  I'm doing everything I can - Vitamin C, gargling with salt water, went to bed early. I can't get sick for this trip!!!:eek::eek:

Oh no! Whenever I feel an unwanted cold coming on, I wrap myself up in sweats, sweatshirt, and socks and huddle under a warm blanket. (I did this once while living in Miami...the cold literally sweated out of me within hours! :lmao: ) Pixie dust for feeling better soon!

We are going to be jeans wears too! We just aren't dressy people at all! As a matter of fact, I'm still sitting here in leggings and a t-shirt, haven't even had a shower yet today!

I'm waiting for my magnet paper to come tomorrow so I can finish that. I also printed tip envelopes for just a little something special for the CMs. I still have to make t-shirts. I have the iron ons printed, just need to wash the shirt and iron them on for pirate night. I found a cute little black sundress at Target yesterday so that's what I'm wearing.

I just can't get myself started on packing or doing anything else. I really can't do laundry until saturday b/c the kids need to wear their clothes!

Okay, I have my dog scheduled for boarding, a stop put on my mail. I still have a bit of shopping but I am not going to stress about it.

I have a question. I was reading a "What did you wish you had packed?" thread and someone mentioned bring hand lotion because all the wipes dry your skin out. BUT I thought I had read there is hand lotion in your cabin already. I plan to bring body lotion but hadn't planned on hand lotion (not that they can't do double duty)

So I guess my question is, what toiletries are available IN the cabin when you arrive?

One of the tips I read was to bring a small can of air freshener. I liked that tip. I am hoping I can find something at the store this weekend. :thumbsup2

Welcome! We are cruising with our 3 1/2 year old son as well!

Thank you all so much for including us in the FE!
I'm sorry it was such last minute! I had no idea what it was until just last night!
I can't wait for this vacation! It is killing me to be at work right now and not home repacking! I think I've been packing for a month now!!

My husband was asking what he needs to wear to dinner as well and I saw some posts about wearing jeans. So would jeans and a button down shirt be acceptable? What about the kids? I have a 5 and 3 year old and usually dress them in cute dress/plaid shorts and a polo shirt.....is that ok for them or do they need to wear pants/jeans and a dress shirt?
My husband and I also have reservations for Palo the night of the Pirate Party. (at 6pm so we will still make the party) but does he need to wear a jacket to that? Would a button down shirt and pants be ok there??
Ok so I am getting all worried now that I don't have everything and I am starting to freak out!
Thanks again for all your help in this! What a great forum! Wish I found you all so much sooner! I think my co-workers are getting sick of hearing me talk about this cruise!

Yes, the boys will be fine in dress shorts and a polo. :) DCL's policies suggest dinner attire (and they ask no tanks or flips in the dining rooms....they do say no shorts, but for the boys, dress shorts are fine). There are too many heated debates on jeans - I figure as long as no one says anything about me wearing a formal dress on what is considered "just" dress-up night, I don't care what people wear either! :rotfl:

As for Palo, the dress code there is indeed a sport jacket, but I have seen guys wearing slacks, dress shirt, and tie with no jacket. (Honestly, I have seen even more casual than that, but there are mixed reports on whether they send people back to their rooms for a jacket or to change...I wouldn't chance it.) At worst, they will throw a jacket at DH to put on, right? ;)

I'm getting antsy for next week!!!
