May 9, 2012: 5 Night Bahamas Cruise on Disney Magic

If I see those shorts, I'll let you know!

I just looked on the DCL site and it says no shorts for dinner
I guess I am going to pack just 2 pairs of kakis and they can rotate. :(

Yeah I am not a wizard, I will most likely keep to adding names for the most part. Though the Redwings one I did a lot more. There are so many cute images already out there, unless I come up with a great idea I probably won't bother putting TOO much work into it. :)

I did this one from scratch, but I have since seen similar designs so I could have saved myself the trouble! :rotfl:

That one also came out super cute!

Is it not ok for my 5 & 8 yr old boys to wear khaki shorts and a polo shirt to dinner?

We are not big on dressing up, but my dh will wear pants to dinner and I will wear a skirt or dress. DD is our dressy girl, so she will be in dresses every evening.

What night is semi formal night?

That's what I was wondering too. It sounds like not which means I'm going to have to hunt down some pants for DS,

I am at such a loss clothes wise. With a four month old I still have about 15 poiunds that just won't budge. I'm trying to seriously diet but the lack of sleep and breastfeeding aren't helping. I need to lose some weight though or I am not going to have anything to wear because none of my clothes fit.

They would probably rather eat at the buffet every night. :rotfl: They have pants they can wear to dinners, but on pirate night I do plan to put them in skull shirts and shorts. The last night we are going to try to do Palo and they may just eat at the buffet or pizza. So we basically need pants for 3 nights, and we could rotate.

I hope cruising is for us because we really like to keep things relaxed and don't get dressed up a lot.

This is what I think I have planned for Dress Up Night and hubby will where khakis' shirt and tie no jacket. Pirate costumes for Pirate Night and skirt and blouses the rest of the time for me and for hubby Polo Shirts and button up Hawaiian shirts with pants.

What kind of dog is little Riley? I feel like I saw a pic in one of your trip reports or something but I can't remember this morning. No chance you can leave her with local friends? If not, I would suggest looking at online reviews, then looking at The American Animal Hospital Association website. They will list all of the accredited hospitals in the area - it's a very rigorous process (trust me I just took a clinic through it last year) so these should all be great clinics. Then call them and tell them your situation and ask them to recommend a place to board your furbaby. :)

I missed this earlier! Crap! :surfweb:

Riley Belle is a toy schnauzer. When we got her from the breeder she was just a little bitty thing. We're all she's ever known. She's very much a people-dog. With me being a stay-home-mom she's always been with me. She attaches to people. Before I got her someone, forget who, told me schnauzers think they are people. That's true. If my mom & dad keep her while I'm traveling she will pick someone at their house and that's her person until I return. Ideally having her in a home setting always works best but sometimes it's just not possible. The few times we've boarded at boarding facilities she comes home acting very weird & clingy, like she's been absolutely traumatized. Those first few days she won't let me out of her sight, mopes around, won't play, and just lays around like a noodle. It's so pathetic. My mom asked me to come to her house next week (it's a 7 hour drive) to help give her house a solid cleaning. She thinks she's going to pay me to do this but she's wrong. I wouldn't take her money for that. I'm sorta hoping having Riley around with me for the week will maybe change Mom's mind about keeping her. She's not as high-maintenance as you'd think. She just needs someone to be near during the day and a warm body to sleep against at night.

Littler kids are fine with nice shorts and maybe some Sperry-type shoes. Just so it looks nice. I noticed a LOT of really casual people on our Dream cruise but then that was only a 3-day cruise. Lots of jeans and even a few t-shirts. The good thing is we have the benefit of sailing after Easter. When the Easter clothes go on sale at JCP's, Kohls, etc. we can all hit the stores with a vengeance and score some good deals! I may have some khakis and stuff around here the boys have outgrown that haven't been donated yet. Sizes will be around 12 - 16 boys. I know that's big for the smaller guys but anything we can do to help each other, right? When I get done digging thru Brian's clothes I'll post what we might have that is on it's way to donation.

I think semi-formal or dress-up will be on the night of our at-sea day, right? I think pirate night comes after Nassau? On the 3-day it was first night cruise casual, Nassau was pirate night, then final night which was CC night was dress-up.

GAP has/had them but there are some on ebay right now.

What key words did you search??? I need 2 pairs, both 36 waist. Tracey tries to deny it (:lmao:) while Chandler would much rather have a little breathing room. Not only do I have to know these guys' body sizes, I have to know their egos and emotional states. You'd think it's a bunch of girls, huh? :rotfl2:

**edit** Found 1 pair & I'm watching. I may try searching more sizes, too. THank YOU!

We will probably eat at the 3 restaurants, pirate night where ever and have a pool night with either topsiders or pizza/nuggets/hot dogs by the pool.

So really I can do one pair of kakis and PRAY they don't spill anything on them ;)

Girls are WAYYYYYY easy with a dress!

For me, I have a few dresses

Seriously!! Unless you show up in your swimsuit or something similar, you will be fine! We are a Nike family. . . really, I worked at Nike for over 6 yrs, and that is ALL my boys would wear! Now Nike does make some collared shirts, and nice khaki shorts, and that is what the boys would wear. But they did wear some Dri-Fit shirts as well, nice looking and clean. Disney is very much a cruise casual cruise! Jeans for the boys in the dining rooms are ok, khakis are great, nicer shorts work too. I didnt want to go out and buy clothes the boys would NEVER wear again. They would grow out of them before they would wear them again, so they just wore what we had. We never got an evil look or asked to leave. The only exception is Palo, there you would need to dress up.

If you want an excuse to go shopping, feel free. (I am the one woman on earth that hates shopping!) But I'm sure if you dont want to spend more money, you have clothes that are clean and appropriate for the MDRs!

Dont stress about the clothes!!

Tough choices, but when it comes down to it, you will all be there, get done what you need, and be on vacation!!
I can't agree more!

I feel ya. My oldest is good about keeping stuff he's grown out of pitched from his dresser and closet (and his room mostly clean) but the youngest is the polar opposite. You gotta search to find the floor in there...hence the reason I gave up and just steer clear. Some things truly are a hopeless, losing battle. This from a mom who kept the entire house completely spotless from dusk til dawn when the kids were squirts. :sad2: I've been saying every day that we're going to get in that room and dig thru the clothes to see what fits, what doesn't, and make a list of what we need. Of course, it's one of those tasks I dread with my entire being so I seem to always put it off. :lmao:
I went through Cole's dresser ages ago and just tossed his small clothes next to dresser and there they sat for weeks!:rotfl: I finally bagged it all up today, and in the process found some of Kane's old clothes I started saving when I got pregnant with Cole! Crazy that they are now Cole's size, so he's good on button down shirts. One less thing to buy. Yippee!

I love that dress! Paisley is on of my favorite designs!

Guess what hubby got in the mail today???? Jury Duty!! LOL he's not happy, but at least it's before our cruise.

Wow! While I was off finishing a presentation (which I had put off for about a month!), you all have been quite chatty! I'm not going to quote and comment, since I'm about three pages behind...but the magnets are super cute, Feisty's dress is way cute, and boys in nice shorts at dinner are just fine!

Sunday cannot get here soon enough...we head down to WDW for a few days, and I so need that getaway now! I'm exhausted and just plain burnt out from work. No biggie, just nice to have something to look forward to.

I'll probably wear this dress for dress-up night (this was from our Mom and Daughters cruise in 2011 on RCI's Monarch)...

Count me in as a non-shopper...I loathe it actually.

So, are the FE participants good with the list on Google docs? Or do you prefer the spreadsheet via email? Just let me know...I will send however you would like!

I am not going to quote either, because I am lazy!

Re: clothes - that seems to be the consensus on the boards too, that shorts aren't going to get you kicked out. Esp for the kids I wouldn't worry too much.

Sweetpee - Have you shared your name? I feel like when I meet you I should call you something other than Sweetpee which might be awkward XD. I am, as mentioned, too lazy to go looking to see if you posted it before.
I have a miniature schnauzer so I know exactly what you mean! Tink (can you tell I'm a fan - she has the attitude to match) is more like 18 pounds though. The little toys are SO CUTE. Let's just bring them with us!

Cindy - Google docs works for me! Obviously. :)

We have a miniature white schnauzer. He is 1 year old and it a hand full. :rotfl: We love him though.

Oh Kelly...I had meant to mention in my previous post. Our "puppy" (she's 14...acts like she's 2) is skittish around other dogs also. At 45 or so pounds, she's deathly afraid of them. We always forgo the playtime and swap that out for one-on-one time when she stays at Best Friends. The folks there say she loves it (and I think they love it too...she's a cuddler).

We typically try for a suite for longer trips, but when we head to WDW for two nights or so, we just suck it up and get an indoor/outdoor, which surprisingly she is perfectly happy with.

Honestly, the Best Friends kennel is the only one Klondike has no problems with. She gets excited going in...the only kennel she has that reaction at. Anywhere else and she's trying to head for the door out! :rotfl:

Maybe not. I always assume people just know like you all have ESP or something. I'm Kelly. But if you call me SweetPee I'll answer to that, too. That's what the old man calls me but a lot of my Cabbage Patch collector friends also call me that because it's my username in the online club I've been a member of for going on 10 years. :cutie:

Yep, Riley Belle's a little thing. Her full registered name is all-Disney: Riley Belle's Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Da Day. Riley is the sidekick from National Treasure. She had to be a good sidekick from the get-go. Belle is my favorite princess. The rest is a no-brainer. LOL! The breeder guess-timated she'd stay about 10 lbs. She wasn't off the mark by much. Riley stayed at 10 lbs for a couple years then bumped up to 11, then 12. She hovers between 10 & 12 now. In a way I wish we could bring them with us but then it's nice to get a break from potty-walks. And to sleep a whole night without her waking me up to cover her back up.

Awwwww....I was totally inspired to get a schnauzer after my aunt got her mini-schnauzer, Tucker. He was such a character and an all-around cool guy. Love him. Schnauzers are so dang awesome. And it rocks that they are a non-shedding breed because my youngest son has serious allergies. There's a couple across from us that have a toy the exact same size as Riley only her coloring is the opposite. Riley is platinum/silver with touches of pepper while Chloe is deep charcoal with touches of salt. They play together perfectly like long-lost sisters. In fact, Chloe is the only dog Riley has ever really enjoyed. I've told Chloe's mommy & daddy that if she ever needs to a new place to crash forever to let me know. She's too perfect.

I'm supposed to be calling daily to check on openings for the suites with the tv (not the mega-luxury one). I keep forgetting, tho. LOL! I should swap the play group for one-on-one time for Riley as well. She needs the people time. We've boarded Riley at 4 different pet resort type places. Best Friends at WDW is by far the nicest. Still, if she suspects we're taking her somewhere that we aren't she gets really nervous. If the suitcases come out she's instantly moping around giving us 'the look'. Same thing if I fix my hair and put on makeup. She lays at the bathroom door giving me the pitiful face. She's entirely too smart. Hopefully something will open up at BFPC. I'd love to be able to go see her again the morning of the cruise before we leave for the port. That way she's only 5 days without her people. :goodvibes

Ok, ok...twist my arm. Pictures of our furbaby, Klondike. The first one is at Best Friends during one of her cuddletimes, the second is at Best Friends as she romps in her outdoor area, and the third is at home right after I woke her up (on accident).

Then, of course, I need to post pictures of the cats!

Guess what hubby got in the mail today???? Jury Duty!! LOL he's not happy, but at least it's before our cruise.

I have jury duty too!! -- the week before the cruise. Hoping and praying I don't get picked for a trial lasting longer than a week -- that would NOT be good!

We always tend to be dressier than a lot of folks on the cruises. DD wears a dress to dinner every night as do I. DH wears slacks and a button-down shirt. We all dress up fancy for formal night. We cruise once a year or so, so DH has his own tux and I have several long gowns. I see no problem with boys in nice shorts and a polo in the dining room, but I don't like to see adults in shorts when they do have a dress policy of no shorts in the dining room, even though I have never seen them turn anyone away, except at Palo. We don't get to dress up at home, so cruising is when we do it.

I think I could easily go to a resort and never step foot in the parks, especially YC. Epcot is the one park I would have a hard time staying away from though. We all just love to be there. I don't even need to go on any rides!

Love the puppy pictures! We have 2 black and white kitties that stay home with a pet sitter.
