~May 7, 2011~ 7-night Eastern Caribbean Cruise on the Magic!

I don't know but Mickey can keep magically making it less days until the cruise! :thumbsup2

I feel like I have planned and planned. Now everything is done. I'm sitting here thinking "Now what do I do?" So I decided I would go ahead and start packing ds and dd. I don't want them wearing their new cruise (summer) clothes to school anyway before we go.

Hubby then looked at me like I had 2 mickey heads when he saw what I was doing. :confused3:rotfl::rotfl:

I am thinking of starting a Pre-TR. I have never done one before.... is anyone else thinking of doing a TR or a PTR? I'm wondering if I will have enough to keep it going for the next 2 months.

I just know that I need *something* to pass the time....:bored:

:hourglass

And my DH will think I'm insane if I start to pack his clothes.

It's just the 2 of us, so we don't need nearly as much time to pack as most of you guys with children will probably need. I need to have kids so I have an excuse to start planning and packing early :rotfl:

I am getting excited about this cruise!!! We are planning on going to WDW a week prior to the cruise, and just booked the room!!! :rotfl2:

It has gotten very quiet here.

I am still on the hunt for an underwater camera. Looks like a few companies will be coming out with new cameras in April. Hopefully there will be a few new waterproof ones.

I found a cocktail dress at Nordtstroms, I will probably wear for formal or semiformal night .

Hope every one is well! We are past the 8 week mark. Whoo hoo!!!

Dinner rotations are PLAPLAP, APLAPLA and LAPLAPL

There are 7 menus offered on board, one for each night, some based on what restaurant your are in that night. Those are the rotational restaurant specific menus. The others are theme inspired and are served in all 3 restaurants on the same night.

The first night is cruise casual with one of the 3 rotational menus. (special menu designed for that particular restaurant) For example if you were in Lumiere's the first night you would have the special Lumiere menu, Parrot Cay would have their special menu and the same for Animators. If AP is your fist night you would have the show as well.

Second night, is the Prince and Princess menu in all restaurants. It is also the formal night. Formal dress is anything you would like to wear with the exception of no shorts, swimsuits or tanktops. On the longer cruise you will see more people dress up. If this is your first night in AP you will not see the show until your rotational menu dinner.

Third night is cruise casual and with the rotational menu. So if this your first night in AP you will have the special AP menu and the show. Lumieres will have theri special menu and the same for Parrot Cay.

Fourth night is Pirate Night. Cruise casual or pirate attire. Even thought they say no shorts, you will see folks in pirate cotumes with shorts. It's not a problem this night. It's fun!! Special pirate Menu in all restaurants this night.

Fifth night, cruise casual, rotational menu. Again if this is your first night in Animators (with the roational menu) aside from the Prince and Princess, or Pirate menu you will have the show. Lumiere's will have their special menu, the same for Parrot Cay. This is the last night of the rotational menu. You should have hit all three restaurants by now and had their special menu designed for each restaurant.

Sixth night is Semi Formal night Captains Gala menu in all restaurants.

Seventh night is cruise casual and the Till we Meet Agian menu in all 3 restaurants.

I hope this helps and isn't too confusing. Don't worry about formal and semiformal dress. Just to give you some personal history. DH and I are in our 50's (old fogies). We look at cruising as a chance to dress up a little more than if we were dining in a fine restuarant at home (at least for hubby, he gets to wear a tux). You will see all kinds of dress on these nights. Long dresses and sundresses. Just go and have fun. :goodvibes

For some reason I can't see the cocktail dress, as the link for me (as I'm in the UK) goes to international shipping :(

I was checking out previous Eastern dining rotational themes, and they are

Saturday ~ Cruise Casual
Sunday ~ Formal Night
Monday ~ Cruise Casual
Tuesday ~ Pirate Night
Wednesday ~ Cruise Casual
Thursday ~ Semi Formal Night
Friday ~ Cruise Casual

On our last cruise (7 night western) we decided to give the Semi-Formal night meal a miss and went to Topsiders for a change, as we had been on the late dining and wanted to eat a bit earlier. I'm not 100% sure, but I think Topsiders is open every evening for those who prefer to have a more leisurely meal

'Old Fogies' LOL, I nearly choked on my cup of tea then :rotfl2: We're a couple of old fogies too (late 40's for us, but don't act a day over 12 :rotfl::rotfl:), and we too love to get dressed up for dinner, though hubby doesn't wear a suit, just a nice dress shirt and trousers

I agree, it can be quite worrying about what to wear for dinner, but you really will see all sorts, some will be in ball gowns, and some will have simple dresses on, it really is up to you, just feel comfortable in what you're going to wear, it's no fun feeling you have to go over the top if you're not into that kind of thing ~ just have fun :yay:

I finally found something nice for myself to wear....something I can use at some other occasions too, I'm not a dress person, so I'll have nice pants. I got so cute outfit for my son and something what my girl can't wait to wear....now the only "problem" is my DH.

You guys are not OLD lol.....we are in our mid 40s with young kids...they are 5&6, almost 6&7 at the time of cruise and I'm called their grandmother daily.....hows that for Old Fogies? :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I love it :)

And about camera...I have my point&shoot and my SLR camera....and everyone is telling me I need to bring my SLR with all my lenses. Well....I'm going on vacation and yes, I want nice pictures, but on the other hand I don't want to worry about this big peace of equipment to be lost, stolen somewhere, so I don't know what to do yet.

Alert: Disney Cruise Virgin Here!!

Greetings from Ontario, Canada:-)

Just booked yesterday (Magic- May 7th). My Mom and I are going to surprise my 7 year old daughter Meagan.

I basically have no idea what to expect or to do. I feel like I am scrambling to figure stuff out right now. I read something about Fish Extenders.......is there a list on here that I can sign up? I know Meagan would love that. My next question is excursions. My daughter LOVES dolphins. When, where and how do I book such excursions? Lastly, is there any shows or activities that you would recommend?

If there is any friendly folk out there that would drop me a quick email giving me any good tips......I would appreciate it.

Thanks for reading,
Claudia Poulin

Welcome aboard Claudia! So great to have another new cruise here, you are not alone :)

MinnieMeg is making a list for FE and you are not too late. We have decided on a cutoff date of April 23, 2011. Look for the latest list at post #359.

For booking excursions you will need to log in at DCL page. We booked Tortola Dolphin Encounter. It's expensive, but I know my two kids will LOVE it. About shows I can't help you since I'm new to this too..... but I'm sure you can find some info here on DIS board.

Thanks so much for you info. It was calming (which is much needed during this busy March Break).

Hopefully tonight I will have time to backread the posts here. Thanks again for your kind greet!
