We have not done more then 3 days cruises. on formal ans semi, do we have to do those nights? Are they on our Dinner rotations? I am unclear on those
Dinner rotations are PLAPLAP, APLAPLA and LAPLAPL
There are 7 menus offered on board, one for each night, some based on what restaurant your are in that night. Those are the rotational restaurant specific menus. The others are theme inspired and are served in all 3 restaurants on the same night.
The first night is cruise casual with one of the 3 rotational menus. (special menu designed for that particular restaurant) For example if you were in Lumiere's the first night you would have the special Lumiere menu, Parrot Cay would have their special menu and the same for Animators. If AP is your fist night you would have the show as well.
Second night, is the Prince and Princess menu in all restaurants. It is also the formal night. Formal dress is anything you would like to wear with the exception of no shorts, swimsuits or tanktops. On the longer cruise you will see more people dress up. If this is your first night in AP you will not see the show until your rotational menu dinner.
Third night is cruise casual and with the rotational menu. So if this your first night in AP you will have the special AP menu and the show. Lumieres will have theri special menu and the same for Parrot Cay.
Fourth night is Pirate Night. Cruise casual or pirate attire. Even thought they say no shorts, you will see folks in pirate cotumes with shorts. It's not a problem this night. It's fun!! Special pirate Menu in all restaurants this night.
Fifth night, cruise casual, rotational menu. Again if this is your first night in Animators (with the roational menu) aside from the Prince and Princess, or Pirate menu you will have the show. Lumiere's will have their special menu, the same for Parrot Cay. This is the last night of the rotational menu. You should have hit all three restaurants by now and had their special menu designed for each restaurant.
Sixth night is Semi Formal night Captains Gala menu in all restaurants.
Seventh night is cruise casual and the Till we Meet Agian menu in all 3 restaurants.
I hope this helps and isn't too confusing. Don't worry about formal and semiformal dress. Just to give you some personal history. DH and I are in our 50's (old fogies). We look at cruising as a chance to dress up a little more than if we were dining in a fine restuarant at home (at least for hubby, he gets to wear a tux). You will see all kinds of dress on these nights. Long dresses and sundresses. Just go and have fun.
