May 6, 2006--MK closing at 7:00 p.m.?

In doing research for our trip next May, I noticed that MK is closing at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6th with no fireworks scheduled. Does anyone know why? Isn't Saturday one of the days they have the Grand Gathering fireworks cruise? I know we once did it on a Saturday--did they change those days?

The park opens all night for Florida High School Seniors. They have many bands that play all evening all over the park. It's usually open from around 10p.m- 7am. for the Seniors to enjoy. They are closing early to empty the park of day guests before the high schoolers invade.

Does anyone know when they release the Grad nights. We are trying to figure out which week in May of 2007 and I would rather not get to Florida on a Grad night since we always, always hit MK first. Thanks.

They have things that go on at Pleasure Island too. Not sure of the days for that.

Last year there were Mass. schools there too.

That's awesome! Too bad I graduated in Tennessee.

It would have been fun if it had not poured raining on us while we were in line to get on the monorail, and then spent the rest of the evening soaking wet! (Way back in 1988) All Seniors must be dressed nicely for grad night. Some even wearing tuxes and gowns. I wore a dress, pant suits were allowed, but no jeans or shorts. I believe that guys had to wear a tie. I guess it was there philosophy that you would act how you were dressed, so that's why we all had to dress up for the night. I do remember that Michael Bolton performed as well as expose, and some other big named singers. Disney really goes all out for the event. It's kinda a funny sight to see the MK parking lot is nothing but a sea of charter buses, and few school buses for the neighboring communities. Of course church the next morning was a little rough since I had no sleep that night. But as my Daddy said "you can't stay out and play all night and not go to church!"

It's not limited to Florida high school seniors, any state can go. You have to arrange it as a group trip through the school, you can't get in individually.
